  1. Dear Mike and Huong

Now I understand what you meant as I read the bold sections that you sent again. Thanks a lot for your help. So, the stand-alone form I-130 of my son should be sent to:

    USCIS Lockbox

    Attn: SAI-130

    131 South Dearborn – 3rd Floor

    Chicago, IL 60603-5517

Please advise me if it is correct. Thanks

Regarding the petition procedures for bringing a child from Vietnam to US, is it right that we file I-130 (only 1 form of I-130 is enough?) for him as the first step? Could you please explain the steps that you made for your stepchild?

Thanks a lot for your kindly help and guidance.

  2. Dear Mike n Huong

Thank you very much for your information.

He sent by express mail (Fedex) to:

    USCIS

    Attn: FBAS

    131 South Dearborn- 3rd Floor

    Chicago, IL 60603-5517

The I-130 and I-485 of mine was accepted, but I-130 of my son was rejected due to incorrect location as the above mentioned.

I've just made an appointment with USCIS local office in my area (Santa Ana) next Monday to check if Chicago USCIS made a mistake by returning my son's I-130 and I'll keep you informed.

Thanks a lot for your kindly help.

  3. Thank you Mike and Huong for your reply.

My husband sent everything to Chicago lockbox at the same time for my AOS documents including I-130, I-485, G-325A, I-864, I-131, I-765 and my son I-130. He's also paid separate fee for each I-130). They sent me receipt number (NOA) for my case, however, they returned personal check paid for my son's I-130 and his whole supporting documents as well. :(

  4. Dear Mike n Huong

Thank you for your prompt reply and sharing.

Regarding your case, when you filed I-130 for your stepchild, where did you send it? USCIS Chicago lockbox or USCIS local service center in your local residence? Could you tell me more details about that ? E.g. you're living in PA, and which USCIS office that you send I-130 for your stepchild.

Thank you very much for your help.

    A homesick mother

  5. Dear Mike n Huong

My husband (US citizen) is filing I-130 for his stepson who is living in Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam. However, I-130 of my son which was sent to Chicago lockbox was rejected and returned. They said this I-130 should be filed at the BCIS service center with jurisdiction at the place of my husband's residence, not mentioning exactly which office to file. As you two have gone through this procedure, please kindly let me know where to send the I-130 for my son (is it USCIS in Santa Ana, as he's living in Orange County, CA). He's also sent AOS file for me (I-130 concurently with I-864, I-765, I-131, I-864) and received NOA today.

Regarding your querry, as I've been living in Viet Nam for long time, I know that when a person changes house, he has to register to the local authority about address change, then a new household book will be issued for him, in which it mentions clearly about his previous registered address.

Thank you for your time and hope to receive your reply soon.

    Homesick mother

Good Morning to my Vietnam VJ Family,

I am at the final stages of filing for my step son who is living in Vietnam with my Wife's parents.

My wife moved to the US in 2006 via me filing a Fiance Visa.

We got married and are very happily married and living together.

Unfortunately at the time, her ex was unwilling to write the child quit claim.

To our happiness, he finally agreed to do so and we are ready to submit the DS-230.

Here are the questions I have:

In the appointment package instructions for Item 13 (Present Address of Beneficiary) it states to provide the address and phone number where he is actually residing, not addresses once used for household registration. So if you use the household registration address on previous forms and place the new residing address on this form, will this be a problem? My wife's mother will attend the interview with my step-son. They both reside at the same place which is a requirement. They are both in the houselhold registry book at the same address we used on the previously submitted forms. We just want to make sure if we put their actual residing address which is new and different from the one submitted previously, will this require a change of address or is this common in VN?

Also reading the required documents for my 9yr old step son is a Timeline needed?

    Thanks in advance
