Hi everyone,
I’m the U.S. petitioner for my fiancé’s K-1 visa and I’m a bit confused about the financial-support part. I’m currently unemployed, but I own an apartment in Spain that I rent out for €2,640/month (about $2,800 USD). I also have an investment account with about €33,000 (~$35,000 USD) in savings.
The apartment lease is for one year (renewable), and I can provide the rental contract and bank statements showing regular deposits. My fiancé (the beneficiary) also has about €80,000 (~$85,000 USD) in investments of his own, which he will bring with him to the U.S.
My questions:
Will my rental income and savings be enough to qualify for the I-134 requirement, even though I’m not currently employed?
Does it matter that the lease is only one year long?
Can I include my fiancé’s €80k as additional evidence of overall financial stability, even if it can’t officially count toward my I-134?
The rental contract is in Spanish and quite long — is it okay to provide just a partial translation (rent amount, dates, signatures) with a certification of translation instead of translating the whole document?
Any advice or examples from people who’ve been in a similar situation would be really appreciated!
Thanks so much 🙏
