Sure, though this is from memory.
The usuals, plus three letters from friends (one of whom is the pastor who married us), and they were notarized.
Credit card statements spanning the duration of our marraige.
Photo of each of our credit cards, one in her name and the other in mine, with the same account number.
Bank statements spanning the duration of our marraige.
Letters addressed to Belinda at our home, such as professional licenses (she is a nurse), Christmas and birthday cards, etc.
Airline tickets from flights we both took from 2006 and 2007.
Tax returns, from 2005-2007.
Drivers license for her with our address on it.
Insurance policies from both of us with the other being the beneficiary.
Car registration for her with our address.
Retirement accounts with each other being the beneficiary.
Photos of us from different times. One thing about that which helped is that I lost 70 pounds in 2007, and I look different in the photos, which shows clearly they were not taken at the same time.
Agreement for us to purchase land for our retirement home.
Her cell phone bills with our address on it.
Medical claims and bills for her with our address on it.
One thing I did not have is her name on the title of our home nor a rental agreement, since I own. She is not on the mortgage either, because I had all that before we got married. Since then I put her on the deed just in case, but it wasn't needed.
We also do not have children, so no BC's of them.

mistake is somehow screwing up so you have <b> and </b> HTML tags in these very
instructions instead of actual boldfaced text.)
REMEMBER: "Date of I-751" is the date you sent your petition - NOT the date it
arrived at the service center. "NOA1 Date" is the 'Notice Date' shown on the NOA1 —
NOT the date you received it.
PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THESE INSTRUCTIONS - Thanks!
We just got approved today, we sent ours back in late March, my dates might be off by a day or two, but no more. So it took about four months, and we were a Nebraska transfer.

I live in Bellingham too!
I remember driving with Belinda from Toronto across Ontario, the plains, etc. We decided to cross over in Blaine just in case there were problems, that way I would be close to home. Also, we took a day at Banff and Lake Louise to give us a break from the drive. And we also figured the border here was busy enough where they would actually know what a K1 Visa is.
It was a great way for me to get to know Canada a little better, especially the areas between Ontario and BC, which not a lot of Americans know much about.
It is also a good test for your marraige, travelling together for a long trip.

Hello all, do you think we can get my wifes drivers liscense renewed with and expired green card and her one year extension letter? It expires the same date as the green card and all we have is the extension letter. Thanks for your help
Can you get your drivers' license before it expires, and therefore before the greencard expires?
-
We didn't either, and I have heard of a few other people who didn't get touched.

Actually K1 is valid for 90 days, but I otherwise agree. Even if she got her nursing license now, she would have to wait until she got permission to work, which will be after you get married and then applied for EAD (Employment Authorization Document, which you get while you are waiting for the Greencard). So when she gets here, she will have time to study up on the NCLEX. There are computer programs or books you can buy on Amazon to help with the NCLEX studies.
One correction, you mentioned getting the nursing license and then taking the NCLEX. Actually you must take the NCLEX first before you get a license, it is a requirement. I know, my wife is an RN. If things change and she is able to get her license in the Phillipines, she may not have to take the NCLEX, as I *think* there is some sort of agreement between the two countries. Anyway, her nursing school there would know that for sure.

Thanks for the quick replies! That's good to know that after 10 years.... they finally ease up on you.
Good luck to all of you!
Actually, no, they don't ease up on you. You file and get a 10 year card - and unless you become a citizen, you have to keep refiling every 10 years for a new card - for the rest of your life.
the only difference is that you filed JUST to get another card (not approvals involved because you are and will be a resident all your life....) This is what I understand…
You have 180 days in this case, not 90.

"How Do I Apply to Renew My Permanent Resident Card?

If you make an Info Pass appointment, they will be able to stamp your passport. Others on here haven't lost their letter because they never received it in the first place, but have been able to get the stamp.

My wife used to work for Intervarsity in Canada (working with student nurses).
You will get a lot of help here. I have a couple of thoughts. If she arrives here in January and gets married to you just a few months later, it could look like she came here just to get married, and therefore came here under fraudulant terms. The U.S. understands that students or workers that come here fall in love and get engaged, but it would be really suspiscious if the marraige was so soon. Some may suggest that if you waited a year from when she comes into the country, she could simply try to adjust status after the wedding.

My wife had spent some time in Rwanda, and had to get a police certificate from there. So we got in touch with the U.S. embassy there, and they took care of that for us and sent it to us via mail.

Maybe you could get your congressperson involved.

My wife had her biometrics on April 29, but the date at the USCIS website still shows March, so it apparantly was not touched. Not sure if I should worry about that or not, but I don't remember her file being touched during the original 2 year Greencard process either.
-
We also went through Blaine (K1 Visa) in my wife's (fiance at the time) Canadian car, we had the letter and had no problem. We did not have to convert the panel.
-
My wife had her biometrics done about a month ago. I haven't seen a "touch" at all. Maybe I should worry too.
-
Be prepared to take lots of pictures. Also be prepared for cool weather, even in the summer. It can and occasionally does snow during the summer months at the icefields. We had very heavy snow there in late September last year when we went. You also will want to take some good boots to wear, as it can be slick. It is more like walking on snow then walking on an ice rink, but if you get those shoe grips that are like tire chains for your shoes, that will help. It is a long drive, (Banff to Jasper), and the experts say to do it in one day if you want to see everything.
You will have a great chance to see Elk in the Jasper area. If you see a bunch of cars parked along side of the road, chances are they are taking pictures of Elk, or even bears.

We live in Washington (Bellingham), and my wife's appointment is four weeks from the day that she sent it in.
-
I'm glad for you that they figured it out. What they SHOULD have done is done your biometrics right then and there. Maybe they had a good reason not to, but if I was working there I would have profoundly apologized and made sure you did not leave without it being done.
-
We also sent ours to Nebraska recently. I don't have the exact days with me, but we got our NOA1 10 days after we sent in the application, and then got the biometrics appointment about 10 days later.

I've been thinking of "someday" sorting/grouping this list by Service center and Date applied. I think that will make the list more informative. What do you think? Leave the list alone or sort it...
I think sorting it by service center would be good, since the times are so much different for each center.

We are now in the process of getting my wife's ten year greencard, and so far we have not had to get any more police reports. She is also from Toronto.
The only way it could happen is if they cannot get a read on your fingerprints, then you have to show police reports.
-
I just took the wife for her second set of biometrics for the permanent green card. We received a letter after the first set was taken stating that she needed to have them taken again. Well, we went again today and it turns out that her left hand didn't leave any prints. We fear that this second set will be rejected as well. This is interesting to us because we had no trouble with her very first biometrics when we applied for her conditional green card. I suppose that fingers and their prints can get smoothed out over time and depending on the type of work.
The people at ASC told us that only two tries at biometrics are allowed. They said that my wife might have to get a disposition from the police departments of all the places that she has lived in the past 10 years. The problem here is that she lived in Moscow for 8 of the past 10 years and it is extremely difficult to obtain any paperwork there. Besides, she did obtain police clearances for her initial K-1 visa here, but she lived in Moscow at the time she obtained the paperwork.
Has anyone encountered this biometrics problems before? Does anyone know if the information that ASC gave us is correct? Thanks so much for your help and advise.
When we were filing for the conditional green card, the same thing happened to my wife. She was pessimistic that the 2nd try would work, but it did. They also told her that if it failed again, that she would have to get police reports, so that part is true. Do you still have the copies of the police reports from Moscow? That should be good enough, since you haven't lived there since then and wouldn't need an updated report.
-
Have you tried getting in touch with the U.S. consulate or embassy in India? That is how my wife got her police certificate from Rwanda when she was applying for a K1. The web site should be found through the state department web site.
http://usembassy.state.gov/ There are different ones for India linked there.

Make sure it is the birth certificate that has information about your parents (AKA the "Long Form Birth Certificate"
Is this enough documentation?

We were in the same situation, but ours was approved. I guess all the other evidence was enough. If you get RFE'd, you could always do a quit claim deed and put him on it. That is probably a good idea anyway, just in case you die, so he wouldn't have to go to probate court.
