  1. WOW!!!!! Congrats!

    I am going to have my interview at Indy office at well... in one and half hour.. I will let you guys know the result.

    Just got back from the interview, everything went well, it only took us 30 mins for the whole interview. Every basic questions and the lady who interviewed us said that we organized our paperwork so well that she did not need a lot of things from us. GC is on the way and I should be getting it in 2-4 weeks.

    She only mentioned that I have to start preparing the paperwork for removal. She said I will not get an interview as long as the paperwork is good. Otherwise it will be a bad sign if I have interview at the office in 2 years.

    Thank you everyone and good luck.

  2. Had our interview yesterday at the Indianapolis field office. Went very well. The officer was very pleasant and basically asked for confirmation of certain things on the forms, then asked if we brought anything to show her. We had leases, joint bank accounts, joint credit cards and some printed photos (printed on regular paper so she could file them) and some photo albums.

    I think in all, it took only about 30 minutes (some questions and very much like a conversation) and then she said that my AOS was approved and to look out for the card in the mail in 4-6 weeks!

    Thanks to VJ and all the people on the forums! I'll make sure I keep checking back here periodically to help out when I can. And good luck to everyone in their process as well.

    WOW!!!!! Congrats!

  3. It seems like USCIS will check the package and send RFE if there is something missing. I looked some VJ members' timeline and most of them got RFE around biometric appointment. So far I haven't received any RFE yet, so I believe my package is OK right now. But still, I only sent in 3 months pay sub instead of 6 months (but there is YTD earning which is way over the requirement) so I am ready for RFE once they check my I-864 details.

  4. Dont worry although I know its harder to do than say. :whistle:

    I got a soft touch after I did the biometrics on Monday.

    I was looking at the timelines in the May and April forums and they seem to receive their interview letter within 4 to six weeks after the biometrics so hopefully we will get our soon. :unsure:

    As to what I have read they never seem to update the status re: the interview letter so we will just have to check the mail constantly :clock:

    I got a soft touch after I did the biometrics as well, but other than that nothing.

    I was looking at another forum and it seems like some of them got their GC in less than 3 months from the day they apply. Hopefully, we all are the lucky one.

  5. I am a F1-OPT student here and just sent my AOS package.

    For the 17-month extension, please read

    http://www.dhs.gov/xnews/releases/pr_1207334008610.shtm

    I believe you guys should start the paperwork now and keep filing up the space on the form.

    The current fee for I-130 = $355, I-485=$1010, I-765 =$0. But remember, the new fees will be effective on Nov 23.

    More details on

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=5be73dc5cb93b210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=5b33aca797e63110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

    ------------------------------------------

    Here is my list:

    - Form I-130

    - $355

    - Copy of Petitioner's Birth Certificate (Front & back)

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - G-325A @ 2

    - Passport photo @ 2 (one from me, one from my husband)

    - Evidence

    ----> 4 months bank statements, total 8 statements from 2 joint accounts

    ----> Holiday saving account statement

    ----> 1 month water, power & light bills

    ----> dog ownership

    ----> auto insurance bills & cards

    ----> hotel reservation for a trip

    ----> 20 photos

    - Form I-485

    - $1010

    - Copy of alien birth certificate

    - passport photo @ 2

    - Sealed I-693 Your wife needs to make an appointment to do the I-693, she needs her vaccination records for the civil surgeon to do the paperwork, if she doesn't have hers, you guys may end up paying a lot for the shots. I had to ask my mom to send mine from oversea. The whole thing costed me about $260, not bad.

    - Alien's Form G-325A

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - copy of alien's passport (biographical page, visa, entry stamps)

    - copy I-94 (front & back)

    - copy of I-20

    - Form I-864

    ----> 4 earning statements that included YTD earning (It should be USC's 6-month pay subs or employment letter.)

    ----> copy of 2009 W2 (I didn't need it but I accidentally sent it, but I don't think it will hurt the process)

    ----> 2007, 2008, & 2009 tax return transcripts (have to send a request for IRS, it may take up to a month to get it)

    -------------------------------

    For I-765, I didn't sent it because my OPT is due til next July.

    - When you file the I-765, use PERMISSION to ACCEPT EMPLOYMENT because your wife will be applying the EAD under a new code ©(9).

    - #11, the date is asking the first date of the EAD. There should be a period of time from mm/dd/yy to mm/dd/yy on the EAD, put the first day that she was able to start working.

    - #15, F1-OPT

    --------------------------

    Remember, if she already changed her name that's fine, otherwise, she should use her married name to file all the forms if she decides to go with married name. That name is the name that will print on Green Card.

    Alien number, she should use the OPT's A# even though USCIS will assign a new A# for her. It is always better to give that number to USCIS because they can pull her file easier without a bunch of process checking time.

  6. thank you Briggi! that's very helpful information, but I still have my question - do we need to send our co-sponsor's birth certificate? :(

    I am sorry that I didn't read your question correctly.

    The joint-sponsor needs a proof of citizenship, national, or permanent resident status.

    If that sponsor has already filed proof of their citizenship or immigration status with Forms I-130, Form I-129F, I-600 and I-600A do not need to submit proof of their status.

    Proof of U.S. citizen or national status includes a copy of yourbirth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate ofcitizenship, consular report of birth abroad to citizen parents,or a copy of the biographic data page of your U.S. passport.

  7. yes I know they did answer, but I was not so sure and besides if I put this question, it might be helpful to the person who is making a checklist to ask those questions before he/she sends.

    I have a final question and I will stop being annoying: do we need a birth certificate of our joint-sponsor?

    thank you again all for your help!

    A

    You are fine. I asked a ton of questions before I sent mine in.

    You don't need that BC.

    O! Just let you know i made a few mistakes on my list.

    For I-864, the sponsor need to send 6 months pay sub or an employment letter (i only sent 3 months)

    The sponsor do not need to send copies of W2 if they send IRS tax return transcripts

  8. hey,

    I was wondering, where did you get the info about $1010 payment for I-485? from this link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=5be73dc5cb93b210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=5b33aca797e63110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

    I found out that it is $930 for I-485 and $340 for I-765, and it is the same $355 for I-130. please verify!

    thank you!

    A

    I believe other VJ members have already answered your questions.

    Thank you for sharing the website thou. I didn't know they will increase the price. I am glad that I sent the package this month. =]

  9. Hey zeezawrydan, I noticed that too. My package arrived on the 20th and I keep checking my email and my bank account, but nothing yet. From other VJer's timelines it looks like it takes approximately 10-12 before the USCIS cashes the checks. I just want to get an email stating I'm in the system. Hopefully I will get that by mid-week next week. We can keep each other informed of our progress. I will add you as a friend. :thumbs:

    My package arrived on Sep 16 and they cashed the check on Sep 22. so..right around a week or so. Did you file the e-notice paper?

  10. Does anyone have an MSC receipt number and is unable to check the case status online??

    I got the msg from USCIS that my applications have been received. I can't check mine, I think the # is available but not yet in the system.

    I got a msg that " We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status." So I guess we should just wait for the actual I-797.

    I just snet out my AOS package on Saturday, September 18, 2010, to the Chicago Lockbox. Now the waiting begins. :dance:

    Got a msg that they has received my applications... took them 6 days... not bad, but they still haven't cashed the check yet..... :(

  11. Thank you for the replies.

    I am adjusting based on F1, so hopefully someone who is doing the process in these two months will share the experience.

    -------

    After filing the AOS package, I then go through my copies again and found out some small mistakes I made.

    for G-325A, I only know the country of birth of my parents, which is China, I only put China in the cell instead of just UNKNOWN. I hope I will not get RFE from that.

    For I-864, it said "If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) ratherthan a photocopy." I gave the transcripts and 1 copy of 2009 W2. I didn't see this part till today. Hopefully, it will not be a big deal when they check my paperwork. Also, I only included 3 months pay subs instead of 6 months to proof employment. (but the pay subs have YTD earning, so I hope it will be fine)

    Anyway, the package was delivered on the 16th. . i am looking forward to receiving the email/txt notice from USCIS. I sent the E-notification form among with the package.

  12. I didn't see any one that open a topic for Sept / Oct filers, so I went ahead to open one.

    I sent mine package yesterday (9/14) and here is my list

    - Form I-130

    - $355

    - Copy of Petitioner's Birth Certificate (Front & back)

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - G-325A @ 2 (one from me, one from my husband)

    - Passport photo @ 2 (one from me, one from my husband)

    - Evidence

    ----> 4 months bank statements, total 8 statements from 2 joint accounts

    ----> Holiday saving account statement

    ----> 1 month water, power & light bills

    ----> dog ownership

    ----> auto insurance bills & cards

    ----> hotel reservation for a trip

    ----> 20 photos

    - Form I-485

    - $1010

    - Copy of alien's birth certificate

    - alien's passport photo @ 2

    - Sealed I-693

    - Alien's Form G-325A

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - copy of alien's passport (biographical page, visa, entry stamps)

    - copy I-94 (front & back)

    - copy of I-20

    - Form I-864

    ----> 4 earning statements that included YTD earning

    ----> copy of 2009 W2

    ----> 2007, 2008, & 2009 tax return transcripts

    I didn't send my I-765 since I have a valid EAD that will due till July 2011, I may send the form around March 2011 if my GC process is still pending at that time. I also didn't apply for AP because I have a F visa that will not allow me to reentry USA if I have AOS pending, so i just have to wait to my GC to do my traveling.

    I spent almost 9 months doing research and I am confident of my package. I hope everything will go well and wish everyone luck if you are doing your paperwork this Fall & Winter.

  13. I think you are missing USC's Birth Certificate for I-130?!

    Here is my list:

    - Form I-130

    - $355

    - Copy of Petitioner's Birth Certificate (Front & back)

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - G-325A @ 2

    - Passport photo @ 2 (one from me, one from my husband)

    - Evidence

    ----> 4 months bank statements, total 8 statements from 2 joint accounts

    ----> Holiday saving account statement

    ----> 1 month water, power & light bills

    ----> dog ownership

    ----> auto insurance bills & cards

    ----> hotel reservation for a trip

    ----> 20 photos

    - Form I-485

    - $1010

    - Copy of alien birth certificate

    - passport photo @ 2

    - Sealed I-693

    - Alien's Form G-325A

    - Copy of marriage certificate

    - copy of alien's passport (biographical page, visa, entry stamps)

    - copy I-94 (front & back)

    - copy of I-20

    - Form I-864

    ----> 4 earning statements that included YTD earning

    ----> copy of 2009 W2

    ----> 2007, 2008, & 2009 tax return transcripts

  14. Finally, I filed my AOS package today. I didn't send the I-765 form since I already have the EAD from OPT (With maiden name.) My card is good till July 2011 so there is no reason for me to apply one now. I went through every single paper that I am confident with my paperwork. The only thing I am a little bit worried now is my band statements because I was out of work for a few months, so my statements balance went down month after month while my husband's were kept on a certain level of balance. I hope the band statements will not bring up any problem during the process.

  15. I just went to do the exam today and costed me about $260 (RPR, TB skin test, Tdap vaccine, & immigration physical.) I will have to go back to check my TB skin test result in 2 days. Honestly, the Dr. has warned me that I may get positive result of the TB skin test due to some vaccinations (I believe he said B.C.G.) Anyway, if I am tested positive, i will have to another few hundred dollars to do the x-ray.
