technically you need to get an ITN for your non-resident spouse and file jointly. It is possible to amend your past returns. Now whether or not this will affect your visa case is completely different matter from that of IRS. I am not sure why H&R Block had you file as single. I am not a tax professional but I was told that it is never good to file your status differently than what it really is. Embassy received docs, they called me wow. I was sleepy & sounded stupid, but lady operator, same from Monday (the one that handles immigration) was nice!!

how are you doing with gathering "proof of relationship". I found that it is a lot of work... not quite sure how much I should print. Lots of emails. lots of chat conversations... SKYPE record (which lasts less than 1 minute each since my wife calls me back to make the call free on SKYPE0.. not sure how much is enough..
