  1. My husband submitted his passport application last month at the post office the day after his oath, the passport arrived in two weeks. They will send your certificate with the application, but it will be returned. If you need your certificate for other things, you should take care of them before sending the naturalization certificate for your passport in case it takes longer to get back.

  2. Have you checked the Camp America site? This is what it says -

Can I extend my Camp America US J1 Visa?

No. The J1 visa is usually valid from 1st June to 30th September plus there is normally a 30-day grace period for travel purposes. It is however possible to obtain an extension B1/B2 tourist visa (at the same time as applying for your J-1 Visa) which allows you to undertake extended travel in the USA. Any questions relating to visas and eligibility etc. should be directed to your nearest US Consulate. See our Links page for US Consulates.

  3. Many universities offer night and weekend classes. My husband and I both worked full time jobs while attending college in the evening, including his MBA. We spent a lot of time on the weekend doing reading and writing papers, but for us it was better than having big loans to pay.

  4. A couple of weeks ago I saw a Phillipine food market in St. Charles of all places. If you are going to be in west St. Louis, it would be worth checking. Let me know if you are interested, I can find the address for you.

Global Foods is a lot of fun and has a lot of variety, a little bit of everything. I haven't been to Jay's yet, I tried when I moved to the area but got lost on North Grand. Be sure you go to South Grand, north gets scary.

  5. My mother was mystery shopping a few years ago, but not for long. She wasn't making much money for the effort and hassle involved.

The agency gave her the time and location to shop, which were often mid-day and up to 45 minute drive each way. She worked mostly for grocery stores and would have to go to the meat department, bakery, dairy, and deli each time making special request purchases and asking questions. So, she ended up driving a lot and using a lot of gas, buying groceries she didn't want, doing a lot of paper work, was out of pocket for the groceries until reimbursed, and averaged $50 a week after costs!

I'm sure all agencies are different, so check out several before deciding.

  6. Some landlords do require references for the pets. Many websites about renting with a pet suggest having them prepared in advance.

I had them when I rented my last house in Oregon. The owner had a no pet policy, but with the references she allowed my cats. It is worth a try if you are in an area that is harder to rent with pets.
