  1. Thanks to all of you for your messages. I got some pretty good news this morning. I got a phone call from the congressman assistant, telling me that USCIS finally got back to her and explained her that my AP hadn't been produced... They didn't give more explanations but told her it was now produced and mailed to me on May4.

I'm very happy to finally make some progress, she also told me that they mailed me an interview notice for June 7 so I'm almost done with the AOS!

  2. I applied for Adjustment of Status a few months ago and Advance Parole and EAD were approved a month ago! Everything sounded pretty good... about a week later I received my EAD card! But now it's been 30 days and I haven't received the Advance Parole yet...

After taking several Infopass appointments, filing multiple service requests and calling USCIS a dozen times, nobody from USCIS is able to tell me where my Advance Parole is...

Before that I never had any issues with USCIS mails and I haven't moved since I applied for AOS so it seems pretty weird that I haven't received it yet.

I was told by an Immigration Officer that if the Advance Parole is not returned to USCIS within 30 days, it's considered lost.. As the Advance Parole was already approved, I thought USCIS would be able to print another copy but guess what they're telling me that I should apply again!

It's scandalous that USCIS ask applicants to apply again, pay again and wait until they review something that was already approved!

It's also ridiculous that with the high cost of fees, USCIS send important documents in regular mail if it isn't reliable. How much does a priority or trackable mail cost? Apparently immigrants aren't worth it...

After doing some research I found out that some applicants who had their AP approved and never received it got in touch with the USCIS Ombudsman (can help solving all kind of issues with USCIS). After investigating their cases, the Ombudsman found out that sometimes USCIS didn't produced and mailed the AP document because they lost the pictures!

I submitted my case to the Ombudsman and to my congressman hoping they can figure out and solve this Advance Parole problem! I'm soooo tired of dealing with USCIS and their incompetent people...

  3. You guys are very lucky!

My i-765 and i-131 were approved on the same day. About a week later, I received my EAD card which wasn't a combo card.... As I explained in a previous post, the online status of my i-131 says Post Decision Activity - On April 4, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I never received that notice and I think they made a mistake and should have sent me a combo card! I called USCIS couple of times and explained my case, one of the operator told me I had to make an expedite service request so we could find out why I didn't received a combo card. Today I received an Email from USCIS, it's supposed to be an "answer" to my service request. This email doesn't explain why I didn't get a combo card it just gives me the status of both applications as I could see it on USCIS website...

I don't know what else I could do, I really need to get the AP, I have to go back to France ASAP and even if my AP was approved I don't have anything proving it!

  4. We are in the same situation, our case status says :

    Post Decision Activity

On April 4, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT

It's been almost 2 weeks and we haven't received that notice but received the EAD which was approved the exact same day (April 4th).

We don't understand what is going on, we thought we would receive a combo card as the i-765 and i-131 were approved at the same time but the EAD card we received says "not valid for reentry to U.S."

We called the 1-800 and the first operator we talked to, told us we should have received a combo card and he transfered us to a supervisor.

When we asked what happened, the supervisor said there's nothing to worry about, the notice is going to arrive soon and advised us to call again if nothing arrived by the end of the week.

The week is other, we haven't received anything and still don't understand why we didn't received a Combo card...

Does anyone know if the document they sent us is just a notice of approval or is it the actual Advance Parole document?

    Anyone in the same situation?

  5. Does anyone know about how long it should take from approval of an AP to the receipt of the actual document? My husband found out from the uscis website that his application for AP was approved and that they sent a notice of that on the 4th of April. Do they send just the approval or does it come also with the AP document (I could understand then if it took a little more time for that production). He also saw that they ordered production of his EAD card on the 7th and that actually arrived yesterday (April 11). We've also gotten mail dated later than the fourth from uscis. Normally it seems the EAD card should now include the AP, but his card does not. Just wondering what's taking the Advanced Parole so long. We've gotten from both the website, and info pass appt and the phone that his AP was indeed approved.

  6. Filing taxes with a pending AOS case seems a bit complicated.....My husband received his EAD card in the mail yesterday. Great news! He went and applied for a social security number today and looks like they are processing it and will get him a card within 6 weeks. The problem.....I am filing taxes and need a social security number to put in that box. I know with ITIN number, it's only valid if you aren't eligible for a social security number. Am I right to assume that once he received his EAD card he was eligible for a social and now that he has a social in production he cannot get the ITIN number? I've tried to get a hold of the IRS but after 50 mins on hold I just gave up! So really unsure of how to go forward. Would the social security offices give you your number if you needed that before the actual card? I also don't know how long it takes them to assign numbers, I imagine it's pretty automatic.

  7. Just curious. My husband also received the same message online, with the exact same dates. He put in a service request for an expedited advanced parole when he originally filed the AOS in January and then again a few weeks later based on a family health emergency. It seems they just ignored that request, which is pretty infuriating. But now finally his I-131 was approved and he really wants to just hop on a plan now to be with his mother (of course we got this far and he doesn't want to give it all up so he'll wait)....but About how long does it take for the Advanced parole documents to arrive? Since he was approved would it be possible to go to the local uscis office and get some sort of stamp in the passport (I don't know all that the AP entails). But is it something that would take longer than a week? It's pretty hard to stomach the fact that his mother has been so sick (have sent in her hospital notes even) and they've just ignored his service requests.

    Thank you for any information.

  8. This will probably sound like a dumb question...but my husband and I took an infopass appointment for AOS questions and were met with confusion....(The agent actually had never dealt with green card apps before)....anyway, she said that I (the American spouse) would have to file the G-325a Biographic form. Is this true? That was the first and only time I have heard that. I understand for the K-1, but I don't think it makes much sense for me to file another one as I am not the one applying for the adjustment of status.

    Thanks for any help.

  9. Hello! Our K1 visa was approved in September, and my fiancé will be here on the 20th of December (next Monday). We are going be having our civil ceremony on the 30th of December, and most likely will be applying for the AOS right after. He will have to go back to France on the 24th of January to finalize the closing of his work contract, but will be back to the U.S. within 2 weeks. So my question, is he able to travel to France and come back into the United States like this? We will have been married, but just filing the Adjustment of Status. Does he need to file that I-131 for such a short period?

Thanks for any information and help.

  10. Just an update on our process (we've been MIA for a while sorry).....I just got back from a trip in France visiting the fiancé and his family for my birthday. While there we received our interview date from the consulate scheduled for September 22.....Medical on the 20th. Such a good birthday gift from the consulate! So so happy and excited we'll be together for good sooooooooon.

Good luck to you all. I hope everything is going smoothly and moving quickly!

  11. Thanks guys so much. It looks like we'll be able to wait a couple weeks before sending the "Statement of Readiness" to gather all of the documents. We didn't expect the process to go as fast as it seems to be going (Not complaining about that), but I surprised him a couple months ago and booked a trip for 10 days to France at the end of August to see him and spend time together in the South (Juan Les Pins...where we met) so we wanted to make sure the interview wouldn't fall during that time period. But also don't want it to be super delayed.

Thanks again. And goodluck to you all on your respective visa processes.

  12. Hi guys

We received our NOA2 a few weeks ago and Paris consulate mailed me the instructions, forms and documents to collect before the interview.

I filled the DS 230 Part 1 and started collecting the documents requested.

If I understood well, I'm supposed to return the Check list DS-2001 when I have everything ready.

What is the timing after returning the Packet 3 to Paris Consulate? I wonder how long it takes to get an interview date after sending the documents.

My fiance is coming on 8/27 and I dunno if it's worthy that she sends me the previous packets and I134 or if it could wait until she's here.

Thanks in advance for you advises and good luck to you in the visa journey!

  13. Hey, Its me again! Just checked all timelines registered here for applicants in may @ csc, only one got NOA2 on 30th of June, so I definitely agree, a bit of luck and July is our month:D

Hey! We sent ours in the 5th as well....NAO1 the 10th. But it hasn't been touched since....don't know how I feel about that. Hopefully July is the month!

  14. Hi......I was just wondering...is it possible to do a civil ceremony in the petitioners country before the K1 visa is approved? I'm going to visit my fiancé at the end of august and we were thinking it would be nice to do a civil ceremony for his family there. Of course we wouldn't want to mess up the processing of our K1, so if it would we definitely wouldn't do it. We are already planning our big wedding ceremony for next year august, but since we'd have to do a civil wedding before that when he initial gets here....we thought why not in France too!

  15. Hi guys,

Our packet was sent on May 5th, 2010. Good luck to everyone !

This is probably going to sound very paranoid (but I'm at that stage right now). When I was at the post office mailing the 129-F packet I was asked if I wanted a signature upon delivery...I said I don't think that would work because it's a P.O. box (CSC)....she said it would so I say ok (as it's pretty important stuff). But I'm having this weird feeling that that was a bad idea! Does anyone know if that really matters...put my mind at ease pleeeeaaaase. Thanks.
