I highly recommend you to be present with you wife if you can. I really wanted to be there for my wife's interview but I couldnt. I think it does have an affect if you were there. The counslate did ask where I was. My wife just told the truth, that I was working. After reading through these forums many times it just seems like the cases were the spouse were presnt the visas were approved.
