  1. They don't really want to see everything that you send again if you already send it's fine but you got luck that they didn't lose form or evidence (it happens more often that we think),if you are filling anything in the future (roc or citizenship )just keep one copy of everything you send , it's beter be safe than sorry. ;)

  2. 10 YEAR GREEN CARD APPROVED WITH I-551 STAMPED AND SEALED IN PASSPORT, HERE IS MY REVIEW FROM GARDEN CITY

The interview was schedule at 2 pm today, we got there at 1:30. We were told to wait in waiting area, then we were called to go upstairs at2 pm, we waited about another 45 min. After a while a white lady in her early 50's said call us into her office. First we were told to swore. Then, she proceed by asking a simple question: how did a girl from Honduras got married with a man from ivory coast. Sobe answer because she was ask the question indirectly.

Then she asked how long did we get married after we met each other. Sobe said a year and I said bout ten month to a year.

She then proceed with the yes or no questions at the back of the i485 to me. She asked about being ever arrest for any crime. I said yes that I used to sell DVD and cd on the street. She asked for disposition paper the original since she had the copy already. Then she told m that I will get my 10 year green card in 2 week and can apply for citizenship in three yrs. She then stamped and sealed the I-551 in my passport an said that I can travel any time I want from today.

    CONGRATS!!!!!

  3. We had our interview today...and we were approved!!! Not on the spot (I just got a text message, 12 hours later....not like I was counting the hours (or minutes) or anything.... ), but as long as we're approved, we'll take it.

He asked kind of a lot of questions--well, maybe not a lot but they seemed different from the typical questions people ask. Funny fact: our interviewer was also African. Nigerian, hubby says.

Before the oath, he asked us for our IDs- passports & driver's licenses. Hubby doesn't have a DL so I said so and he asked me how he got around.

He asked me what kind of work I did since I'm an attorney. He tried to make a joke, but it fell way flat.

Made us sign a waiver since the lawyer on our forms wasn't there. Made us stand up & take the oath.

    Then he asked:

    Husband

    How did you meet?

What were you doing in Cape Town?

    Where were you working?

What was your spouse doing in Cape Town? I had to drill that into his head before the interview.

So your wife went to law school. Do you have any kind of schooling?

How do you pronounce your name?

    Phone number

Some (not all) of the inadmissibility questions

Were you born in Zimbabwe? Are you a national of Zimbabwe?

    My birthday

    Me

So, you were going back and forth from Boston to Cape Town while you were in school?

Did you go to college at the same place you went to law school?

So, you met someone from Zimbabwe. What did your parents think?

Where did you get married - church or courthouse?

    What kind of church?

    Who was there?

    Have you been to Zimbabwe?

    Have you met "his people"?

    Name, address

There may have been more, but I can't remember that right now.

He asked us for proof. I gave him photos, and started naming everyone. He took a few, and then told me that was enough. I guess the stack of photos was starting to bore him. Then he asked for other documents. I gave him our flight itineraries, which I don't think he was much impressed by since he asked for something joint that we had together since he's been in the States. I gave him our bank account statement, health insurance, and vision/dental insurance, and he said that was enough--though I had more to give.

He took his I-94 so I figured that was a good sign. He copied my DL & hubby's EAD, as well as our marriage license. He told us that he'd review the application at the end of the day and he'd make a decision today. At the end, he asked if hubby was going to go to the same school I did. I laughed and said we didn't want to move back to Boston so I didn't think so. Also figured his joking around was a good sign.

Anyway, we're approved now. Free from USCIS until May/June 2012 (or so, I think - too excited to ensure I'm counting properly right now!)!!! Totally thrilled.

    CONGRATS!!!!! :)

I'm still not sane at all ...lol

In other note I got my green card today :)

Good luck to all of you guys I'm done with this brain cell killer for 0 years woooooo

  5. I got the first txt & email!!! Now it feels real!!

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On August 18, 2010, we ordered production of your new card.

Blue dots: I-485 went to Card Production o I-130 still in Initial Review but was touched.

    congrats!!

Now it's back to stall the mail guy again(dejavu?)...lol

  6. OK guys, I had tried to edit my post to reflect our interview results.

It went well all in all. Got there at 10am. The whole interview took but 10 minutes. The IO only asked for things with both our names on it. I gave the IO our Bank statements, Car ins., Health ins., Life ins., Apt. lease, contract for appliances we bought on credit.

The IO was only concerned that my husband was not married before, as he has a child in Mexico, but never married. So, we were told everything was in order, but that they had to make sure there is not a marriage license out there on my hubby. We were of course confident, as he has never been married.

I was saddened that the IO did not want any photos other than the few I had sent with the original application, as I had printed over 300 photos this week at CVS and nobody got to enjoy them but us...waaaa

Anyway....Here's the wonderful part of it all. Got an email from USCIS this eve...Card Production ordered. Can it be???

Anyway, IO was very professional and straight forward with everything. Not scary at all, however not out to make friends either. We had none of that joking around other people have experienced. However we were impressed at the IO's professionalism and cordiality.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it:)

    congrats!!

i'm happy that everything turn out ok for you guys.

  7. The way I see it is like you are calling a credit card company ,if you call the representative names your debit is not gonna go higher right?

Call USCIS will not help in most of the times they are there just for information and in most of the time just read what is on the website if you want to do something about your case make an infopass and please don't call the IO names than you are going to be in a lot of truble ;)

  8. I did a search but couldn't find a question/answer close to my situation and am hoping someone who has gone through this or knows something about it might lend a helping hand.

I am currently on OPT (and working), but my OPT expires in early January. I'll be filing for AOS (family-based) soon and was wondering about the timing for applying for an EAD. Should I file the I-765 concurrently or wait a month or so - until it's closer to when my OPT expires. I don't know if USCIS will issue one person two EADs that overlap, if they will wait until my current one expires or if they will deny it because I currently have one.

I don't want to risk having to quit my job once my OPT expires. Anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

My EAD was approved in 2 months and my AOS in 3 months I don't know about the overlap EADs but when you apply for EAD under a AOS your category of authorization is different (c09) so maybe it first matter if you already have one .

  9. So, here is my experience....

We got to USCIS in Irving, TX around 11.45am and our appointment was at 12.15pm. We walked in, to security where we showed our interview letter and he stamped "draft" (?) on it. He also asked me if i had brought the cashier's check and after I freaked out and gave him a scared look, he laughed and said no, I'm just kidding!! I told him he got me worried, USCIS has already got a lot of my money and I don't want to pay more and he agreed that it was an expensive process and we moved on.

Walked upstairs (2nd floor) and turned in our interview letter at the reception/front desk and the lady gave us a restaurant style buzzer (think Chili's). We looked for a seat in the very full waiting area and got stopped by our lawyer who was there with another couple. Their appointment time was 11.30 am and they said it was about an hour wait. We sat down with them and talked about snowboarding and health care until their buzzer rang.

There were IOs coming out from three different doors and it moved on pretty quick, we were mostly people watching and then our buzzer rang. We walked up to the reception area where a tall man was waiting, he looked confused at us, took the buzzer and said "I think I have the wrong couple" (I thought for myself...here we go...)and then he asked me "What country are you from?" I said Sweden, and he said OOH! Then it is the right ones. I asked him if he expected a blond, blue-eyed girl and he said yes. (This happens to me all the time, so I figured that out when he looked confused) We laughed, I told him my mom is blond and blue-eyed and that I get that all the time. He said he thought I was Brazilian (again, get that ALL the time!) and that my hubby was Italian or Hispanic (he gets that a lot too haha!) We walked in to his office. This is where it starts getting weird....or weirder haha!

We sit down, my file is already on his desk. He explains that there are 2 parts to the interview, first he goes through the application to make sure everything is there and then he asks for evidence that we are living together/bonafide marriage. He asked if I had any questions and I said not yet. Note! He did not make us swear. He starts going through the file, not asking questions, just more telling me...Your name is xx, your birth date is xx, your parents names are xx etc. I just said yes, yes... and he made check marks on the application. He asked me about 3-4 questions from the I-485 and I answered No, No, No...again he checked marked it. He said oh, I see XX is a co-sponsor to help out financially (didn't ask how I knew her or anything) and in the end of the application where the word collage I had made with some pics from 2008-2010 and he said oh, and here are some pics and I guess this is from Dallas and not your small town on a pic from St Pattys and I said yes and we all laughed. I told him I had more photos and he didn't say anything or didn't hear. My hubby told him that you can kind of see the time line by looking at his hair (he has short hair now, but it has been long and short during our relationship) and the IO said ah yeah, I didn't think about that, you're right. All the time while he went through the application we were talking about all kinds of stuff (non immigration related) like Texas, languages etc etc. Then he said Okay, you're application is fully complete. I don't see a reason to not approve your wife today to my hubby. I said, great! Asked if they stamp passports and he said only if it is an emergency, but the process for GCs are automatic now and much faster than it used to be so I would have it in about 2 weeks. He said he would put it in the system today. He told me that this was a conditional GC and that we had to apply for ROC etc. I said, I know and then we got up, shock hands and walked out. I forgot to check what time it was when we went in, but we were there for 5-10 min and walked out the building at 1.08pm.

We walked past the office where my lawyer and the other couple were and they were still interviewing them. They are not in cubicles in Irving, but small private offices with glass windows.

So, he didn't ask us ANY questions!!! Not one! Not how did you meet, nothing! Not even our DOB, address, he just read my info out loud from the application. Didn't ask my husband anything. He didn't ask for ANY documents and I'm not just talking about evidence, no driver's license, passport, I-94, EAD...NOTHING!!!! When we were done, I put my huge file folder back into my bag and said ok, I'll put my life back in the bag then and he just smiled. SO WEIRD!!!

Elus, please let me know if you have any question at all about the Irving office or my experience! It is a new building, only 2 years old and there is a lot of (free) parking in front of the building.

    YAY!!!!congrats hoppla!!!!!!

It is so weird when we leave the interview it's a feeling of #######?!?was that it ?!? Lol

I'm so glad that your interview was easy and painless

My fellow Brazilian look like ...lol

    Congrats again !!!

  10. What is the matter with the online case notification system? On Aug 4 I got a notice that green card production was ordered. On Aug 10 I got the same message (why does card production happen twice? Do they send two cards? haha). And today, I got a notice that on Aug 17 they have mailed an approval notice. But I already received a welcome letter on Aug 8 which I thought was the same as the approval notice. Why are these updates all over the place and not following any logical order?

The first production is when they order your card to be made , the second is when your card is ready and when they send it it goes back post decision ,they are not in order because not all documents issue by USCIS are cards like advance parole or the I-130 so the dot never goes to the card production .

  11. Yeah it says to bring the form I-864 (affidavit of support)including the supporting docs. if not already submitted. I don't know what to do, my co-sponsor lives 1.5 hrs from us and she is working during the days. She can't scan and email it to me and I don't have a fax....aaargh!!

But you didn't send all that already?

Trust me if you already send they don't need they check on the sponsor before the interview and if the need something the send an RFE on my interview they didn't even say nothing about sponsor or my wife's income .

I read on some post that the IO told to a couple to not worry about that kind of stuff they do enough check on the paperwork before the interview stage .

Relax and focus on been yourself with your hubby that's what the interview is for ok!?! ;)

  12. yyaaayyy!!! wow u were married 2 years? well u def didnt have anything 2 worry bout, would be hard 2 question it if u waited 2 years before u applied? so wait u wont be gettin a conditional green card right? u just get a normal 10 year green card?

    well CONGRATZ!! :D :D

    Thanks ;)

That's true on my passport she wrote IR6 that is the 10 years green card :D

No more interview or nothing like that since the status is permanent forever just the card it self is what expire.

MP did u got a welcome letter already ??

  13. I forgot to add that our interview was very quick about 15 minutes or so. At the end, The IO said that she is going to stamp my passport so I can be free to go where I want and so I can work now. She told me to wait out in the waiting room and she was going to bring my passport in a few minutes. I hope this helps.

    Congrats !!!!!!!!!!;)

It looks like they are so many nice IOs in garden city I didn't see any one that was not friendly there

GREEN Card received

Congratulations !!! Can't wait to get my too ...

How long ago was your interview cbrniner?

  14. Thank you Felipe!!! :D I hope they don't know everything I do though  Did you have to fill out a I-9 for your job? That is probably how they knew.

Well I can understand why homeland security know about it because after 9/11 everybody that work on airports goes to FBI ,homeland security ,CIA (and the list go on and on )check but, why my IO want to see what I was doing that's what amaze me .

Anyway the way I did my folders I did one for original docs ,one for evidence original ,one for docs and evidence copies and one for copies of the forms sent to USCIS plus the photo album .
