  1. I am a US citizen, filed an I-130 for my wife which has been approved and she is currently awaiting interview at the embassy. Two weeks ago,my wife gave birth to our first child(a boy) and I asked her to go to the embassy and report it for the purpose of establishing an official record of the child's claim to US citizenship at birth with all the necessary documents(child's birth certificate,my naturalization certificate, our marriage certificate and an affidavit of residence and physical presence in the US.Surprisingly,an embassy employee told her that she should tell me"to declare the child's birth in the US(which doesn't make any sense)to get him a birth certificate(?????)then bring it to the embassy so they can make him a passeport. This lady clearly doesn't know what she is talking about and I wonder where she got her informations, because that's not what it says on the state departement's website.I am wondering if there's anybody out there who has been in the same situation and what they did to resolve it.

    Thank you

  2. I just got an E-mail from the NVC asking me to send the immigrant visa application(DS 230)and corresponding civil documents for each traveling applicant.I did go ahead and completed the DS230,had my wife sign it and mail it to me and I mailed it to the NVC last week, and I believe the should be getting it within the next few days. What confuses me is that in the E-mail it says that"we are still waiting for the immigrant visa application (DS230)and corresponding civil documents for each traveling applicant to be returned to the NVC for review".What are these corresponding civil documents that they are talking about?I called them as soon as I got the E-mail,first of all it is very difficult to get trough because the line is always busy, but also their representative are not helpful at all. They can never answer question about a documentation that is needed, they always tell you to look it on the website. When I completed the DS 230,I did not come accross any question where I needed to send some other documentation. The only person I am petitioning for is my wife, and before my petition got approved and sent to the NVC,they sent me a request for evidence and I provided our marriage certificate, divorce decree and some other documents they asked for.I would appreciate it if someone can help me finding out what documentation they are talking about.

  3. I am a US citizen and I went to my home country in march of 2010 got married and filed an I-130 for my wife that was received by USCIS on April 16th.I understand it takes 5 months for processing,so technically I should hear something by sept 16th.Is it possible that I don't hear anything by that date?My wife and I are also expecting a baby by mid Dec.What will be the status of the baby if she gives him birth while awaiting the visa?
