  1. Hi,

My wife and I did the same thing. We had a civil ceremony in July and then our wedding in September. We use the date on our original marriage certificate for all our paperwork, not the date of the wedding. We did however send copies of our save the date and invites as part of the bona-fides.

Also, you CAN/DO get a second certificate (maybe this only applies in some states) called a remarriage licence/certificate. The officiant referred to the wedding as a renewal when we discussed wedding plans, but we did receive a second marriage certificate.

Again, use the original date for your paperwork.

  2. Hi,

I am new here and tried doing a search to find the answer to my question before I asked so please bear with me.

We filed the I-130 separately from the I-485 because of finances. The petition was already approved and the I-797 Notice of Action received. The notice of action acknowledged my presence in the U.S. and intention to adjust.

We are now ready to send off the I-485 along with the I-864, I-693, and the I-765.

My question here is... should I (the beneficiary) complete a second set of G-325As and attach another copy of the marriage certificate to the I-864, or is the copy of the I-797 along with the pictures and copies of my I-94, visa and birth certificate enough?

Better yet, is there a specific checklist anyone can provide for THIS SPECIFIC SITUATION?
