  1. Hello fellow VJ members who are monitoring the List for HCMC. At the moment there is a problem and I am unable to make edits/changes to the list. I have PMed the Admin of the site to let him know of this. As soon as it's fixed I will make the updates. Thanks for understanding.

I want to thank you for your time and work on the Vietnam portal. I'm surprised more people haven't asked to be added to the pinned Vietnam Visa Seekers. Perhaps they aren't aware they have to ask. I think it's a valuable service. I know you can search the timlines but it's nice to just click and see what is happening with everyone.

When I was waiting for my wife to come over and had lots of time on my hands, they didn't have to ask because I would go searching through the users list for members coming from Vietnam each week and add users who were updating their timelines.

But a lot of those members would stop updating their timelines at the stage of interview, so we wouldn't even know if it was a success- they probably didn't know they were being watched! Then came the split of Vietnam with and without a Flag, which meant two groups I would have to search each week, and what with my wife being here already- *sigh* too much work, not enough time!!

But I think it is valuable so that new members get a quick sense of how much time they have at each stage as well as the percentage of success, which believe it or not has varied over the months.

  3. Hello fellow Vietnam VJers--

For those that do not know, I (Dalegg) have been keeping the list of Vietnam Visa Seekers for a couple years now. I've begun tapering down the list to include only people who actually ask to be added to the list, and it has been dwindling.

Well, my wife (Nicolegg) just received her 10 year green card, so with the exception of applying for citizenshiip, our journey is pretty much over, and with the exception of an occasional pop in now and then, I'm not going to be spending a lot of time here. So.... I need to give up the user "Vietnam" to someone else who may want to keep it going. If you are interested in retaking the list, let me know and I will transfer the E-Mail address you choose to the account. By the way, since you will have the ability to edit a single post over and over, you need to be a little proficient in HTML and be a responsible enough member to not abuse your priveledges. I'll be checking with the Captain to see if anyone interested is worthy!

Until someone actually takes it over, I'll keep it up. Good luck to everyone!

  4. Thank you for your words of encouragement. i am doing everything that i can to keep my fiance from being depressed. Suong also feels her english is not that well, but she speaks better english then alot of the people i have to deal with with me job. luckily for me this site is giving me alot of good information and everyone that is here is giving me good advice. i hope that everything works out for you and Tram. and thank you again for the advice. Tell Tram to relax i hear the one thing they look for in the interview is someone who is nerveous.

If you speak Vietnamese she doesn't have to speak English that well. If you are just starting to file, you have a lot of time. The evidence needed to get your case approved is not that intense and almost everyone gets approved- most on their first try. The hard part is getting your fiance through the actual visa interview at HCMC and providing the evidence they want. Save everything you get. Letters to eachother, phone records, yadayadayada. You have time, so make sure you visit her at least once more during this process.

Finances are the other big thing that kill people. If you make over $30K a year and have no children, you have nothing to worry about. Less than $13K and you're getting dangerous. Everything in between is grey.

  5. Okay, I talked to her and some family/friends and decided that even if it doesn't help the process (i don't see why it wouldn't) it will help the relationship to see each other again (coming up quick on 6 months apart).

Should I exhaust both weeks and go there around Oct. and then when she comes here just take a couple personal days to get her settled or should I take a week now and a week when she gets here? Will they look down on the fact that I am not able to stay there longer than 1 or 2 weeks do to work? Like I said before I already used another week and a couple weeks of leave to go the first time. I could also do like a week and a half and keep a few days vacation and then use a couple day personal for when she comes here. Does the length of stay really matter or does it just matter that I am there??

I assume any evidence of me being there in Oct. would be presented during the interview when they ask for it? Right now my 129F only shows i've been there once.

You should definitely take the remainder of your vacation time and go spend 2 weeks with her. A couple of personal days to help her get settled at the end of the year will be fine for you. It usually takes around 4 months after your NOA2 before the interview- so you are looking at December for interview. Worst case you could let her wait until the new year and use 2008 vacation to take her to Disneyland or whatever you need to do.

No reason to assume any evidence of you being there in October would be presented during the interview. Make sure of it Dammit! Your fiance is in control of that. Make sure she has a copy of all evidence submitted with your I-129F. They are going to want it again at the interview.

  6. WOW ,ouch that's not good. So once I recieve the NOA1 ,I would just have to wait for NOA2? Anything I need to do in between NOA1 and NOA2?

There's not much you need to do unless they send you an RFE. Way down the line when the HCMC consulate gets your case there will be a host of things for you to gather in preparation for your fiance's interview.

    The fun is just beginning.
