No simple and easy solutions to nabbing those who are here without legal documentation? Again very simple..Don't give anyone welfare, health care or anything else without proper ID.

There is no such thing as illegal immigrants, only legal immigrants. All others are invaders. Anyone who follows the law, pays the fees, ect has every right to be here, regardless of where they are from. The rest do not. It is that simple. It is the law. Don’t need a professor to tell us that. Just because most illegal are Hispanic does not make the Arizona law racist. No matters what country the illegal’s are from they are still illegal and subject to the law. I’m thinking law suit against the U.S. government if they give them amnesty. Or we should get our fees and expenses refunded. Seems that it doesn’t pay to follow the law…

Our interview was in August and we just recieved notice that the green card is being sent last week. I'd say wait. It takes awhile sometimes...Good luck!

Finally got a notice today stating Green card is on its way. 5 months after interview.

We had our interview mid August in Omaha. Still waiting for FBI check I guess.

Just go over the check list on the USCIS sent and you'll be fine. If it says already submitted and you have, you don't need it again. Don't worry, Interviews are pretty easy.
Good luck!

We only had a bank account and car title with both our name on them. They took copies of the car title and our earliest and latest bank statements. Think they are looking for evidence that you have been and are living together. Also they were interested in anything addressed to my wife at our address.
We took tons of papers along to the interview, which was in Omaha, but they only looked at what I mentioned above.
Good luck and don't worry, if you have everything in order you won't have any problem.

They won't ask for them but don't throw them away. If you get an RFE for another medical exam, you can use your X-ray. Saves a few dollars.

I was planning on going to Des Moines as we live in Iowa but got notice to report to St Paul on April 15th. 11 AM. Almost amazing, since my wife will be returning from California earlier that day in MSP. At least something has gone right.

Just got a RFE stating we have to have another medical exam. When checking with civil surgeons we were told that if you do not have records of vaccinations you have had, you will have to have them again. Fortunately we have the records. Also glad we kept the chest x-ray as we won't need to do that again since we have it.
Good luck!!

Thanks everyone!
Looks like we'll be redoing the I-693. At least we have the chest x-ray from before. That should save a few dollars. Unfortunately there are only a couple civil surgeons near us. Almost afraid to find out what they will charge. Oh well, the good news, if there is any, is that after a RFE things seem to move quite quickly.

I've read lots of posts from people wondering if they need a medical exam before their interview or not and it seems pretty clear, that as long as you had one before coming to the US and it's not over a year old, that you don't. However we got a RFE asking for a compleated I-693 ( Medical Exam) including. Diane had an exam before coming here, which the USCIS should have. Do we need to have it done again? Wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

We are having the same problem here in Iowa. I finally called the state department of transportation office in Des Moines, and after about the 4th person we talked to there, were told that we could get a 180 day license. An alternative is to just drive on the foriegn license if you have one. It is valid until you get resident status. Unless it's expired, as in our case. Good luck!

Congratulations

We have filed for EAD and AOS. The problem seems to be that the K-1 visa is expired. Even though I try to tell them that we are married so it shouldn't matter. Talked to the Iowa DOT people this morning. The 4th person we talked to finally told us she could get a 180 day license. But then she mentioned something about the visa being expired again. So not sure. But we were told to try again, which we will do next week. Always intereting.

Just wondering if anyone else has had much trouble getting a drivers license. First time we tried, shortly after Diane arived here, they told us we had to prove she lived in Iowa. by the time we tried again, her K-1 was expired and they told us we had to have the NOA to prove we applied for residency. Once we had the NOA they told us we would have to wait until she gets her green card. When I asked if she could drive on her Philippine license they said no. But I asked the sheriff and he said that she could. However by then Dianes Philippine license had expired. Called the Philippine Consulate in Chicago to see if they could issue a new license but they told us it could only be done in the Philippines. So now it looks like we have to wait until she gets a green card. Like there isn't enough waiting in this process the way it is.

thanks everyone! i thought it seemed quite steep too, but he is the only one in southern minnesota unless hubby and i take a trip to minneapolis
We are from Northern Iowa, just checked a couple days ago and believe there is also one in Abert Lea. Don't know if they are cheaper or not though. Let us know what you find out.

We got our NOA's last Saturday and were posted on USCIS site today...Just wait a few days and they will be there.

When my wife looks for work, she must show her green card to prove she is her legally. I wonder if it's because she has black hair and darker skin?
Must be the employers prejudices and preconceived ideas. Or maybe it's the law!
