Good day my fellow VJ members.....just wanted to know the waiting time to receive a social security card in the mail once You apply. My son arrived here in the states (NY). On April 4th 2012. I took him to the local SS office and applied on the 6th April 2012 and we still haven't received anything. Is this the norm or should I check up on this?. Thank you for any info.

we involved in a ir2 immigration visa ......in our last interview the co asked us to bring proof of step father and mother relation to verify that the marriage was not based on immigration purpose.....wanted to know the kind of proof to send.....and if anyone has had his or her final interview the questions to expect..............would we be given the visa since our dna results proof positive or we will be asked to turn in other proofs.........

No Hun...the DNA results is a good enough proof. Jst go back with an updated medical( if it's has been longer than 6 months since u went for ur first interview). And also a new polices repot( they expire every 3 months.). Also add ur 2010,2011,2012 tax transcripts n u shld be ok. Goodluck

My husband arrived Feb 4, GC arrived 4 weeks later. SSN was a big hassle, came much later.

If he arrived on a K-1 visa he does not get a GC without applying and paying for AOS nor does he get an SSN without applying for one.

Sry he got here on an IR2 visa

Hey Vj members. My boy is now home safely.n jst wanted to know how long before he receives his green card in the mail? Does he also receive his social security in the mail too? Or do I go to the social Administration n apply for one for him. Any info wld be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello my fellow VJ members. First off wanna thank The Almighty God for answering my prayers. My son in the IR2 Visa category has picked up his visa n package yesterday at the Embassy. Secondly all the other Vj members who shared their stories n kept other clueless ppl like me informed. Thank u very much. it was a struggle, deppressing and at times even felt like giving up. But thru it all I kept the faith and always kept God first. This journey is over for me n my son for now until he files for his citizenship( 5 yrs) from now. But until then I will be willing to give and share any info as needed to help others. Thanks guys

Don't forget about your updated police certificate also. Along with your new (Green)birth certificate.

Does the embassy keep your birth certificate along with ur passport? Or it's suppose to be passport alone.? My son said they kept his birth certificate too. Any response wld be greatly appreciated

Ok ppl so today my son went to his interview and glory be to God he got approved n got his blue slip. This visa journey is almost over. Never thought I wlld see this day, thank God for answering my prayers. N can't wait to see my pumpkin. He picks up visa later this month. Amen :dance:

Wow......this is pure madness now. So did anyone get to pick up their visa that day or everyone was told to come back again?. I don't even know what else to say abt this embassy.

Hello guys, I just emailed the embassy last week n got some good news back. My son has been scheduled for his DNA sample collection next month. And wanted to share with u guys. Thank u

Guys I am also in the same process for my son.They asked me for a DNA test.So i did that as soon as i came back to the states.So the kit actually got there on 6th of october and they have scheduled for my son to come to the Embassy for the wsap or the sample collection.

But can some one share with us what happens after they have recieved the results and is positive?Would they ask for more stuff or just call or e-mail the parents to pick up the passport?

I also emailed them on the 24th of October. Still waiting for their reply though. Its really stressful waiting for that 1 contact. Nice to meet someone I could share information with. I will definitely let you know how everything goes.

I Live in Accra. I'm under f2a. I was interviewed on the 13th of September 2011. Everything went great on my interview day by the Grace of God. I was voluntarily ask if I wanted to do a DNA test to prove if I'm the child of my mum. I said yes. The lady then gave me a DNA letter to send to my mum so she can go through her process. I was also told that when she is done, a test kit will be sent to the embassy for mine to be done and that, they will contact me as soon as the kit arrives. I was then given a nxt yr appointment date in march & was told not to worry cause I'll be contacted 1s everything is ready. My mum contacted the hospital where she did her test and they told her that the test kit arrived @ the embassy on the 23rd of September. I have not been contacted yet. Do I email the embassy or do I wait a lil while... I really wanna know guys.

Hey, am also going thru the same exact thing with my son right now. His interview date was on august 2011 and he was asked to also return in march 2012. I did my DNA testing in august and sent his kit but he still hasn't been called till now. My son said the C.O told him it takes 2 months before they will contacted him after his kit is sent. So I have sent an email to the embassy in Accra. A friend who also went thru the DNA process said it took 2 months before the embassy contacted his son for his swabs. Pls share if u get any response back from them n I will also do the same. Thank u. We all r in this together

As it was explained it used to be good for one year. However, now it is only good for 6 months.

Well i filed for my son too....who just went to his interview date. I also wanted to start with the DNA testing procedure but, u can't just start that procedure without the embassy officially requesting the test. U just have to go through the normal process, its time consuming but u just have to be prepared.

Hello folks...today my son went for his visa interview in Ghana and a DNA test was requested. They also asked him to do a new birth certificate. ( the green one). Ok my problem is that the next appointment date the CO gave him was in March of 2012. Which I find hard to understand. My son said he asked for an earlier dat but the CO said that they are booked For the year. So has anyone gone thru this DNA testing thing or know about this process? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am so happy for your interview date. It is really good news to read that there is someone who's been waiting a while too, to get a date and so soon! God's Mercy and Grace is always sufficient. The way in which it happened is truly God,k. HE makes a way even when we think there is no way. My husband and I continue to pray for our date as well as others associated with Accra...Blessed

Oh my God! Now this is some fantastic news. Please tell us that your case was not expedited. Either way it is good for you. But if the case wasn't expedited it might mean something is opening up in Ghana!

Actually called NVC last week and was told nothing was scheduled but i had to keep waiting. then today i just got it.!! I think something is opening up. Just thank God for this opportunity cuz it felt like forever

Good evening Visa journey members. So i woke up this morning, checked my email and to my surprise there it was. Finally an interview date for my son. Felt like a huge weight was lifted of my shoulders. i know an interview date doesn't mean nothing is guaranteed but its a BIG step for us. And i know God has answered my prayers n will guide as thru successfully. Interview date is set for August 2011. we have such a short time in between but with all this time of wait we had, we've gathered enough stuff to be fine. Next step is medicals and another recent police certificate. Thanks to all u guys for sharing ur experiences. It may seem frustrating at times, but i believe n pray that each and everyone waiting for an interview date in Ghana get a date VERY SOON. God Bless.!!

First of all let me say Im so happy for you & your wife to get such good news, Congradulations. But I must say I'm so very upset & disgusted with this whole system Your case was 4 months behind me & my husband. I do not understand why we did not get an interview. We finalized the NVC April 2010 & you August 2010 yet we have had no news & NO August interview. So frustrated

Yeah. I've also been waiting for an interview date since April 2010.

Thank God I picked my CR-1 appt. package at US Embassy in Accra. The shocking part is that, the interview date is not due until March 1, 2012. I was upset but am cool now cos with God nothing long. Atleast I know my date now and wishing good luck to everyone who has got their date yet.

Congrats. when was your case completed at NVC?. You are in CR1/IR1 category right?.

Well since this happened. All i have to say is where's my interview date NVC....OMG.! Been waiting too long for this. April 2010(IR2), next month makes 16 months of waiting. Jesus when is this whole craziness gonna end.
