  1. We applied for the K1 visa, and according to the K1 flow chart, I will need an exam in Toronto. We just replied to an RFE that we overlooked (paper work). We are guessing that we will be receiving our NOA2 in the next two weeks.

I live in Windsor, so traveling to Toronto or Montreal is good hike. I was just wondering if I can in fact get the medical exam booked ahead of the notice from the US consulate. Like Ricardo4eva2 said, perhaps the exam is good for six months.

To see a specialist here in Windsor, the appointment wait times are up too six months. I'd rather get the exam out of the way.

Anyones thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.

  2. I am concerned about the waiting list for the exam. I was going to call and schedule the exam since we SHOULD be receiving our NOA2 in a week or so. Am I jumping the gun here? I would rather have it out of the way as apposed to waiting until the last couple days prior to the interview.

  3. We received an RFE because my fiancée was married twice and divorced twice before we applied for the K1. We only submitted the second divorce decree and omitted the first one. The USCIS requires ALL divorce decree's. Don't make the same mistake as we did. We added a couple of weeks to our looooooooonnnnggggg wait.

  4. It's a little premature, however Renee and I would like to have some kind of plan.

Is it necessary for her to come from California to attend the interview with me in Montreal?

Other than moral support, is there any benefit for her to join me?

    Thank VJ family.

  5. We also spoke to a lawyer and his advice we thought was wrong yet turned out to be correct. We rather have been married and applied for a K3 as apposed to a K1. The wait time is basically the same. We did fill out our paper work ourselves, thanks to all the people at Visa Journey. The forms seem difficult, however thats why you are here. Use the experience the members have and you will not miss a thing. We didn't.

  6. Be glad you don't live in Canada. I was charged multiple times and if I did not plea guilty, the crown was going to ask the court to put me away for two years or more. The kicker in this is, it cost me well over 6K and I did absolutely nothing wrong. At that time I was going through a child custody battle and the ex. She was having me charged for any offence she could convince the police to charge me with. I did win the custody battle but Now, I have to go and explain all that #######, if and when we ever get an interview date.

It is easy to say that one would never plea guilty to something you have never done before, however, the way the system works, they play chess with your life and force you to make sacrifices that you can not avoid.

  7. First we would like to thank everyone for helping us on our LONG journey.

We checked our K1 status on the USCIS web site and it states that May 28 2010 they received our petition.Next to the APPROVED button is the "Initial Review".

Does this mean that they want finger print or something to do with a criminal record? Will this cause a delay? We are not sure what to expect because we have search VJ and the net with no real explanation. We appreciate any guidance we can get.

    Thanks, Jay.

  8. Jay and I just sent in our paperwork for our K1 visa. We sent in the I-129F form and just got our noa1 last week. What we are looking to do is get married now and not wait, and switch to a K3 visa. Is this possible if we have already started the process for the K1? We believe the waiting game for both is the same, just not sure if we are able to switch approaches at this point. If so, what would we need to do? Thanks for any help that you can provide.
