    Interview scheduling

    If I remember correctly they will tell you to schedule the interview within a month(because they say it takes 2 weeks to email you appointment date) but you can try to push for a something earlier, you pick the week (I actually emailed later and requested a Friday) and the time is always 8am. You have to apply for the interview appointment online, and they say it takes two weeks but they usually will email you within a few days. You can check out the appointment request form on the US embassy Seoul website. They should also email you a link or if you want just give them a call...I always did :thumbs: With this embassy I wouldn't really wait to hear from them because when I first started I found out the file had been sitting around and the guy had forgotten to call me.

    This is the site for packet 3 (http://asktheconsul.org/pkt3ir_f.html) which is needed before the interview, in case you want to get the things together now. The police report can be done in one day and the medical exam is done within a day, if you want to get the police report done quickly get someone who speaks Korean to pick it up for you. Also you won't need a police report from Iran because they aren't accepted. I would suggest getting them done as close to the appointment day as your are comfortable with because the visa expires when the exam and report expires not 6 months after it is issued. This will help in case she has to go through AP.

    Also, a heads up, if you've spent a lot of time outside of the US the embassy may request something that says that you are returning like a job offer.

    I called the embassy today (my weekly call) to check on the status of my husband's Cr1. He has been in AP for almost 2 months now. When I asked for the status they told me it was "under review by the interviewing officer and they didn't know how long it would take". Does this mean AP is almost over? or is it just another process in AP?

    I'm really hoping to get a call soon because I leave Korea on October 12 and would love for my husband to come with me :)

    I'm debating contacting my congressman, but I know I need to wait a bit longer. My main reason for the rush is because I leave Korea on October 12 and I need to know what they will decide. If they deny him (which I'm hoping doesn't happen) I want to get a visa and go to Iran instead....and i need to tell me school if I need to extend my visa because they are required to pay for my ticket home.

    ::sn...I wonder if they check Facebook pages, I know employers in the US will sometimes do it, since they've came by my apartment and workplace it would only seem right that they facebook stalk us also :P

    You would think the field investigation would be the last part. I called and asked if they needed numbers for my parents in the US, his parents in Iran, and his brother who lives in Korea and they told me "if we need the numbers will call you". I was thinking we'd get a call or email soon after they came by our house, so now I'm constantly checking my email and phone for missed calls. But I get the feeling it may be a while. :crying:

    ScottThuy...you are right, they ARE trying to find something and they are working hard at it, I wouldn't be surprised if they start digging in our trash. <_<

    The people that came to my apartment flat out said "men from the middle east marry western women to get a green card"...and I was like because we're obviously not marriage material. They have been pretty civil, but it's a surprise to everyone I know. It's like they are trying hard to find something. I just want the whole process to be over soon, it's been very stressful. I understand the need for a background check but it seems like they always target certain people. If I had married a Korean guy we would have had our visa months ago. But I have no regrets, it just makes us stronger, and gives him a little taste of how the US government works.

    I'm hoping you guys get some good news soon. :D

    I can only help with question #4, your husband should be able to attend the interview with you. On the US embassy website for Ankara they stated that "it is not required but is useful"...I went to my husband's interview in Seoul and they asked me questions also. So to answer your question, he will be able to enter the embassy with his US passport...sorry I couldn't be of more help but I'm doing a CR-1 in Seoul

    You made a good point, for my husband and I we seem like any normal couple. But it's because we don't think of ourselves as a Iranian and American couple in Korea...the stares from Koreans should have gave us a hint :blush: I'm not sure how routine it is in Korea because I called the embassy to let them know if they wanted to speak to my husband to call him so he would stay home and the woman I spoke to was surprised someone visited me from the embassy. I'm just hoping we hear something soon because I'm leaving Korea in October and I need to decide if I should extend my visa in Korea or start applying for an Iranian visa...or start looking at plane tickets home. I'm not going to complain too much, we are pretty far ahead to have just started the process in April.
