  1. New Topic,

While I sort out forms, I need to give my wife in China a homework assignment!

    VACINATIONS!

Can anyone give a list of what vaccinations my wife should have? She has her birth certificate, and passport. We will wait to have police check done until she is asked. I just try to think of things she can do while we wait! She is a school teacher, so might be forced to have these shots already, but just in case, she needs a homework assignment!

    Thanks

  2. Still waiting on my wife’s Choice of Address and Agent form. You pay 30.00 and wait a week and half from China. Oh well, It’s only money.

I am putting together the I-864 form now. I have been gathering documents for a few weeks.

I read in the Instructions: Under When Do I complete Form I-864

It says “Complete Form I-864 when it is mailed to you from the NVC…”

So far in my Journey, I received a muti paged letter with my wife’s case number and the Choice of Address and Agent Form (which has an expiration date of 12/31/2006!). I have mailed this form to my wife and should return any day now.)

I have paid the 70.00 , have the receipt that is paid, and the Cover Sheet.

This is where I am confused: The instructions from the Internet Site says that I can now down load the I-864 form.

When I mail my wife’s Choice of Agent Form, Receipt for 70.00, and Cover Sheet, can I also mail the I-864 form?

Or does the receiving of the Above, spark the next step (and Payment!) that allows me to send in the I-864 Form.

Just don’t want to put the cart before the horse…

    Thanks

  3. Hi,

I talked to the administer to my 401 K account. He is preparing a paper to say how much of my account will could be drawn under hardship. I will write the amount down on the I-864 as the amount of the hardship. I will also send my last quarterly statement that I received this April.

I did learn one thing. My company has an HSA medical plan (High deductable health Insurance) He says this money is very easily assessable and should be counted. It’s a savings account in my name. He says the money can be used for my wife and I at 100 percent value for Medical, if I needed it for something else I would pay 10 % penalty. He felt that HSA was more of a tangable asset to me than trying to use my 401 K in a hardship condition. I will send the visa group both! ( I will list the HSA as a savings account)

    Still working on the form…

  4. I’m real scared on the electronic processing thing. I think it best for me to use snail mail. The computer skills on her end scare her. Because of the language barrier it is hard for me to give her technical directions. Her English is good, but not on a technical level. I looked at all the cut and paste of barcodes, and just don’t want to screw it up. I should be getting the Choose of Agent form back from her in the next few days.

I am just overwhelmed right now.

  5. Hello Group,

I received the packet for the AOS Fee.

I paid 70.00 on line. I printed out Cover Sheet.

I sent the Choice of Agent Form to China to have wife sign.

I will receive the Choice of Agent Form soon (DS-3032) signed from my wife.

I need help on what to send back. Is the Visa Center only wanting the cover sheet, copy of the receipt marked paid, and the Choice of Agent Form back now? Or is this the time to send the I-864 back also? If this is not the time to send the I-864 when will the time be?

Looking for some advice on what I am to do. I am so scared to make a mistake. The process intimidates me a great deal.

    Thanks Group.

  6. Looking into the Electronic. May just stick to the mail. Still have some reading to do. My wife has the choose of agent form now in China and is express mailing back. Is this the form that I would scan and submit to trigger the electronic methiod. My wife's a school teacher and wants to see this school year out. Her summer starts in July, so things may time out that the excitement will fall on her break. She wants to see these students through. You can tell she is not an American teacher!

Any thoughts on 401 K as an asset?

  7. Starting to look at the I-864 form

    A) I make more than the 125% poverty line for me and my wife. The form indicates that I can skip listing most of my assets. They say “Optional” is this truly optional or do I just continue to fill the form out?

    B) I filed for an extension on my taxes while I get the W-7 form signed and submitted for my taxes. I will file married this year. Do I use 2009 as my most recent, or do I use 2008? I will send 2009 regardless with the explanation why I filed the extension.

    C) Under Assets: Is my 401 K account an asset to list in 26 c?

    Thanks for the help group!

  8. Hi again,

Got some reading to do. Will try to find the cover sheet, if you say it's there I will find it. Will look in to the electronic, but worry about that. Somehow I will make it through this. Thanks. If I do, I will help others do the same.

You said it was there and it is there! I didn't know they were tabs to click on! Can sleep now! Will look into the electronic filing. That still scares me, just don't know how that will replace a document needing to be signed... Need to read about it. Thanks again group!
