  1. You have your green card, so you do not need advance parole.

I believe you can reenter the US with just your green card. The only other document that would possibly also be required would be your Romanian passport, which you will have with you anyways because you'll need it to enter Romania. You are good to go for travel documents.

You must purchase the plane tickets to match the passport name. The GC is used only for reentry to the US, after both legs of the trip are done. The airline will require that your tickets match your passport. They don't care about your GC at all.

Your situation, where your passport is still in your maiden name, is very common. A lot of people bring a certified copy of their marriage certificate to document the name change, in case they get asked about the different names. But the vast majority of the time, it is unnecessary. It is very rare for the difference in names between the passport and GC to be questioned, as both documents have photos on them and it is usually pretty obvious that they refer to the same person, especially if you tell them you got married right before you applied for the GC.

That said, bring a copy of your marriage certificate. You almost certainly won't need it, but it will make you feel more prepared and secure, having a backup plan in the unlikely case that they ask you about it.

Thank you so much for your help. I feel more comfortable knowing that I won't have any trouble. This website is extremely helpful. Many times the official websites use a very formal and complicated language and it's easy to get confused. Have a blessed day!

  2. Hi everyone

I am a conditional Permanent Resident. We're planning to travel in Romania to see my family. My greencard is on my married name but my passport is on my maiden name. Will I be able to reentry USA just with my greencard? I will stay in Romania less than 2 weeks, so I suppose I do not need an advance parole, I'm not sure. Please advise. Also my plane tickets, should they be on my passport name or green card?

    Reply ASAP.

    Thanks.
