Hello friends!!! I have a question and I hope somebody can help me. So my fiance had his interview in the US Embassy at Ankara on August 3 of this year. Unfortunately they sent us back without a visa, they required more proof of how we bought MY tickets for my 4 travels to Turkey. So we went back we gathered all possible proof and sent it to the Embassy along with his passport. A week later he received a package from the Embassy, it was his passport and it one of its pages it had like an addition with his picture (the US EMbassy added this) ... he also received a yellow sealed and closed envelope, which according to the instructions he should not open. So ... IS this the visa??? did we get it??? and if this is in fact the visa, is that it??? i mean does he need anything else to enter the US??? I really really apreciate your help . Have a great day.

jajaja by the way Jim ... that example you gave ... "She was always nagging me about getting a job, cleaning up after myself, and playing video games until 3am"
sounds like you've met my ex .
thanks for your help

yeah you are right ... i will have to do that ... i just hate going back to those memories. thanks a lot.
i do think though that it is not really fair that they focus as much in the past ... since the point is to prove that we really DO love each other. i dont know how to explain myself.

i understand ... i just dont wanna get in any trouble ... i mean, i could just give him all the info, but i'd rather keep it in the past where it belongs. would it look bad though??? like i am hidding something??? i think it would make the officer suspicious.

ok so here is the question. I am divorced, and my final decree was dated May 2009, but i met my fiance october 2008. My ex husband and I had been separated for a long long time, but never really filed for divorce until later. My first marriage was a wreck, and i did not want to bring all that baggage into my new relationship. my fiance knows i was married, and now i am divorced, but i dont desire to share anymore than that such as why it didnt work or anything else regarding my first marriage, i dont wanna bring trash into it. what if the officer asks him when did i get divorce or why didnt it work??? would it be valid to answer that he has no desire in knowing anything about my first marriage? or about my past? ... i hope my question is clear enough

Hello there!!! So my 3rd package was finally delivered to the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey .. the step that comes next is the interview appointment. Is there any page, where I could see and get an idea of what kind of questions they are gonna ask ... just wanna be prepared, my fiancee is a ball of nerves, and i think it would ease him to have a slight idea of what to expect. Thanks a lot for the help.

yikes...i'm also sending my packet over this week.
QUESTION: Does anyone know if proof of relationship items go in the packet 3 to Ankara along with the d-156, police report etc??? Or does my fiance bring these items to the interview? or should he have copies of both???
I'd appreciate any advice
thanks!
Hi well on the package with the instructions they sent me it said to send everything except his original passport, so I sent the proof of relationship to Ankara. What I did ... I made a copy of the EXACT package I sent to Ankara for my fiance to take with him on his interview day, just to be safe. By the way, I'm still waiting for that package to get to Turkey, one week and a half already ... and it is barely in Paris ... oooooffffff :s

I REALLY REALLY HOPE SO ... mine have been stuck for a week now, and im really freaking out . If you really think about it, you havent really seen a problem like this before, where all flights going that way or coming this way are just CANCELLED. This volcanic ashy thing is just on such a massive proportion, it is actually kind of scary, and im beginning to wonder if it wont take weeks or more to clear out.

So I mailed to Turkey my final pre-interview package containing all necessary forms and documents (DS 156, I-134 etc etc etc) last TUESDAY. It was supposed to arrive Last FRIDAY, to its destination ... and now i find that it's still in Tennessee, being held due to cancelled flights cause of the volcanic ashes. Friday they told me that it would be flying today, arriving tomorrow. Today they've told me today flights are still cancelled, so my package is still stuck in Tennessee. Does anybody else know how could I get that package to Turkey, or if there is an alternative way, like faxing all documents to the Ankara embassy. I am afraid this volcanic thing will take forever . TALK ABOUT BAD BAD BAD TIMING.

wow great answer!!! thanks a lot ... I do have another question. My fiance is from Turkey, from the CITY of Bursa, the city of Bursa is divided into little districts ... he lives espefically in the district of OSMANGAZI. All the forms have this format "give address CITY, PROVINCE, COUNTRY" .. i am quite confused. The city is BURSA ... but I am not sure about the province, would i put the little district of Osmangazi (which is within the city) as a province??? ... or should i put the city as the province and the district as the city??? uuuugggggh, technisisms.

You may be over-thinking it a bit - of course it's OK.
I'm not certain what value an invitation letter (and/or 'supplemental documents') will add though.
Thank you so much for your fast response! . Yes i think i am over thinking, I am just panic struck at the moment. :S

Hello everybody!!! i am filling out this form for my fiance DS-156. There is this part where they ask "do you intend to work in the united states?" ... well since this is a K1 visa application process, when he gets here and we get married, he will apply for a work permit. We own a family business and a letter of invitation to work at our company will be issued with all the supplemental documents. So I put that he DOES intend to work in the US (which is only logical, since he has to work sooner or later) ... is this gonna be a problem??? what should i put??? help please i am trying to mail these documents to Turkey today. THANKS.

thank you very very much everybody for your help!!!
i do have another question ... i am having a lot of problems to find a co sponsor, seeems that they get scared ... could i use 2 co sponsors to meet the criteria???
lets say one made $10,000 in 2009 and has no dependents, and the other one made $9,000 and has no dependents either ... add my miserable salary of 2009 $2000 plus $5000 in bank accounts. Would that work with the ankara consulate???

Correction. 125% above the poverty guideline is equal to 225% "of" the poverty guideline. The requirement is 125% "of" the poverty guideline.
Further, the US Citizen petitioner is NOT COUNTED in the cosponsor's household size.
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
now lets say that I am a single mother with a child from another marriage, would ME AND MY CHILD be counted in the co-sponsors house hold or ONLY the people who live in his house hold??? THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT cause judging by this address i got above, If my co-sponsor is single and add my fiance, my son and I ... that requires $31,700.00 which is a LOT!!!
-
OMG!!! I'm in deep trouble ... thank you very much for all the help
can i have more than one co-sponsor??? since it is my fiance, i have a baby from a previous marriage, and me ... that already makes 3 of us ... plus the people in the co-sponsor house hold. that is A LOT of money.
-
More clearly it should state number of household members. You and your fiance would make two.
OMG!!! I'm in deep trouble ... thank you very much for all the help
-
For clarity, that should be 125% above the poverty guideline for that number of dependants.
You can find that figure by downloading the following form:
THANK YOU BOTH FOR SUCH A FAST REPLY
so I would be counted as a dependant too??? I thought it would be only him since he is the one who is gonna depend on me and im not unemployed.

Hello everybody!!! I have a really really big problem and I'm not sure what to do. I applied for a k1 alien fiance petition for my TURKISH fiance. My petition has been approved, and the American Embassy in Ankara (Turkey)sent me an email today saying that they have received my approved petition. They have asked me for an I-134 form affidavit of financial support and supporting documents such as my W2 for last year's taxes. Now the problem is that I AM NOT ELIGIBLE. Taxes of 2009 I only made about $2500, I have been employed in my father's business for about 6 years now, and unluckly last year work was very very scarce. Another problem I have is that my father can't co-sponse since as I said, his company made very very little money last year, he is not eligible either. Here are my questions:
1.could a friend of mine be my Co-sponsor??? and HOW MUCH would he or she need to have made in last year's tax to be eligible (if he or she is single and has no dependents). What if my friend lives in a state different from where i live, can she still sponsor him???
2.A friend of mine who prepares forms like these for alien fiances told me that I could send my W2 form (which was only $2500) and my current earnigs (my dad's company is doing great now) which are $15 per hour 40 hrs a week around $600 per week, $2400 a month ... a letter from my company, and a job offer for my fiance.
I am seriously panicking now ... i have no idea of what to do PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
IS THIS THE VISA???!!!
