  1. This is a really stupid question, but since I don't want to mess up, I figured better to ask and be safe rather than sorry.

I received a checklist letter from the NVC re: sending the DS-230 forms to them. The letter says to "please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents."

I'm a bit perplexed, because some of these are certified copies - like the marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc., and I don't want to mess those up! Did any of you actually write the case number on the upper right hand corner of these docs?

    Thanks!

  2. Sorry for not being clear. If the original wedding certificate is a long form then that is what you should submit. If the original is short then submit that.

    Ah, I see.

The original is a short form. However, when I originally sent in a copy of my marriage certificate with my I-130, it was long form and they accepted that. Still confused but I think I will submit the short form. Thanks.

  3. Hi.

We're preparing to send in the DS-230 and all the supporting civil documents.

We were married in NYC. Does the marriage certificate have to be "long certificate" (for foreign use) or can it be "short certificate" (for domestic use)?

Will he need a long certificate for when he goes to his interview in London? Thanks in advance. =)

  4. Hey guys.

Quick question, thanks for bearing with.

I got an RFE. We want to send the documents as quickly as possible (overnight). I keep seeing various things all over the internet that says that if I want to send my RFE docs overnight (like Fedex), I should send it to this address:

    California Service Center

    24000 Avila Road, 2nd Floor, Room 2302

    Laguna Niguel, CA 92677

as opposed the California Service Center address listed on the blue RFE sheet.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

  5. May I ask you why were asked to resend the G-325a forms? Thanks!

    Certainly.

I was dumb, and interpreted the directions that said, "You don't have to repeat information that you've already answered" (or something along those lines) to mean that I didn't have to fill out the sections re: our names, DOBs, and parental information. We just filled out the rest of the form (the ones with work, residences, etc.)

The the RFE actually did not say that this was the reason - but that's what I'm guessing is the problem.

  6. Hi -

We were asked to resend our G325A's. My husband sent me his, but accidentally typed in an incorrect DOB for his mother. (It's off by one day - my father-in-law, and myself, we born on the same day, and his mother was born the day after. So he just made a stupid, silly typo)

Would it be okay to simply hand-correct the mistake myself? Leave it be? Send the form in with a letter of explanation signed by me? Hand-correct the mistake, and recopy the form (thus the signature is a copy, which makes me uncomfortable). The deadline is by August 1 and I'm getting antsy.

    Thanks.

  7. Hello there.

I've already filed my I-130 and am waiting for my NOA2. But I've been looking ahead and trying to see what documents I can gather now, just so I'm not scrambling for them later.

From the U.S. Embassy website in London, where my husband will be eventually going to his interview I gather, the list of documents he'll need to furnish includes our marriage certificate. However, it does not specify if it can be a "short" or "long/extended" marriage certificate. We were married in NY, which has two different kinds of marriage certificates - short for domestic use, "extended" for foreign use (it will be considered "valid" outside of the U.S.).

Which one should I obtain? Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks,

    puppygirl
