Hi Folks,
I am in the process of finalizing my mom's citizenship application.
Last thing before I mail is for you guys to help me if the breakdown is good. Here it goes:
Date Left in USA Date Returned to USA Did Trip Last 6 Months or More? Total Days Out of the USA
12/08/09 03/08/09 No 90
03/10/09 07/10/09 No 122
10/27/08 12/16/08 No 50
12/08/05 03/03/06 No 85
Total Days Outside the USA during the past five years? 347 Days
Please let me know if this is good and ready to go. I just want to make sure we're doing the right thing.

I agree, most females when they get married, the maiden name change from First Name, Mothers Last Name, Fathers Last Name TO First Name, Fathers Last Name (Becomes Her Middle Name), Husband's Last Name (Becomes Her New Last Name)
I would say 90% in this world follow the rules. I dont get why the Interviewer Officer is very confuse about this? That is why there's a question on every form regarding about the Maiden Name.... Oh well, the Officer needs more training. Since most of her identification are under First Name, Fathers Last Name (Becomes Her Middle Name), Husband's Last Name (Becomes Her New Last Name, there is no other possible reason why she have to use her maiden name plus a new last name under the husbands last name.
The officer is giving you a hard time, ask for another interviewer, or ask for someone who can understand, ask for a female interviewer...

Hello,
This question is for my mom that will apply for her citizenship. As I've read to her passport time stamp, it seems like she was out of the country a total of 347 days. base on 04-2010 to 04-2005 ( 5 years base )
Question: Is she eligible to apply for her citizenship now?
I read somewhere that you have to be out of United States not longer than total of 365 days, or else you disrupt your stay.
Please someone could clarify this to me.
Thank you very much.

it's ok, as long your green card, and ticket name are still the same name as with your passport. if its not, then, amend your passport asap. or when you get there in manila, go to dfa, replace your passport, its cheaper and faster...bring your marriage cert.

DS-230 QUESTION TOO:
Can you guys mix, TYPE and HAND WRITE on Form DS-230? Some of the questions cannot be type in to the computer. so hand writing it is the only option? any issues at NVC? Thanks

try to renew your passport when you get in there in manila, it will save you time and money.

Best advice I can give. If you booked the ticket less than 24 hours, cancel the ticket to avoid fees, then re-purchase under the name of what you want. Or cancel the ticket, pay fees. Then re-purchase the ticket. Sorry it was happening to you, and its only almost 1 week left. I hope you get through this...Goodluck my friend!

probably you didnt have a chance to change your passport at your married name? sometimes you'll encounter problems at security. they are strict, we all know its you. but if i were a security and found out that the name on the passport doesnt correspond to the ticket, there will be no boarding. safety precaution.
what about coming back? if your green card has a different name with your passport, you have to justify everything with the immigration officer. they might question this.
all im saying, why you did not change your passport under your married name?

Thanks Darnel. Yes I did pay online, and I also paid the IV Bill. Im still gathering documents for it, hopefully by next week, I am able to send IV Docs to NVC. Thanks

I PAID THE AOS FEE ONLINE AND SENT IN THE AOS ALONG WITH ALL THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS. WE ALREADY SENT IN THE CHIOICE OF AGENT AS WELL. MY QUESTION IS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. WILL I GET ANOTHER BILL IN THE MAIL FOR THE VISA FEE. ONCE I PAY THE VISA FEE DO I NEED TO SEND THE DS-230 AND ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO NVC OR IS THIS SOMETHING SHE BRINGS TO THE INTERVIEW?
I sent my I-864 last 04/21/2010 and NVC received 04/22/2010. How do I know if they are currently reviewing it? Do they have to email me?
Thanks

Also, ask her to send a few blank signed DS230s so that you can make any corrections or if you get hit by the dreaded RFE.
This is the best possible option, just in case of correction...nice one sachinky!!!
-
Thanks Scott, she will be going today (manila time) to correct it...

Question to all spouses who got their NBI Clearance. My wife Address supposed to be written as ANTIPOLO, but in printed NBI Clearance, it say ANTIPLO. Is it a mistake from NBI? Will NVC RFE this since all of the address involved says ANTIPOLO?
Thanks po

Purchasing Ticket Help
in Philippines
Posted · Edited by Que-Kiam
Hello,
To all who purchase their ticket from the USA Roundtrip (Petitioner) and purchase 1st Time Immigrant One Way for their Spouse/Fiancée/Fiancé, what kind of paperwork did the travel agency look for the One Way ticket?
After my Wife's interview, we will be going to the USA at the same time probably 1 week after the interview. When I inquire for the 1st time immigrant ticket, they are asking for the copy of her passport and copy of the visa, in which the visa still about to come and we dont have yet at the moment. What did you guys do in order for you to buy the ticket while the visa is not yet issued? Is it possible?
Maraming Salamat Po!
