  1. Always embassy interview, USCIS does not want any information about affidavits of support.

In your case IR-1/CR-1 Department of state will request an I-864, at this time you and Joint sponsor will submit this, and then this will be forwarded to the consulate.

Or if you filed petition overseas to consulate, the I-864s will be brought to the interview.

Thank you much for this information.

  2. I am so happy... just called NVC and got our assigned case number. Within twenty days he should received his paperwork. I ask her if the US embassy in Egypt is closed she said that she does not have any order that it is closed so maybe they are open...I called this number 603-334-0700 five for operator waited maybe ten minutes but got through anyway. :wow::dance:

    Consular Services Update Announcement

    March 1 2011

Due to security concerns, all visa services at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo are suspended until further notice. The Embassy regrets any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause for persons wishing to visit or immigrate to the United States. The Embassy will resume visa operations as circumstances permit. Non-immigrant and immigrant visa applications of persons interviewed through January 27, 2011 are being processed normally. Applicants in this category with pending cases should check the Embassy’s website at http://cairo.usembassy.gov for information on the status of their cases. All visas issued are returned to applicants via DHL courier service. Delivery status may be tracked at http://www.dhlegypt.com.en/html .

  3. Yes its a journey alright and I do understnad why they request different info for different people there is more info they want which is fine but honestly they are getting it all I just wish I did not need all this paper, they r going to be like "WOW." Well they asked so they shall recieve..

  4. I searched for my now-spouse's name in my email and printed out the 20 pages of results (with just date, subject, a snippet of text, and who I was talking to) rather than print the actual emails.. I think that gave them a good sense. Could this work in your case?

    Best of luck!

Well i printed out all emails which were not too too bad. LOL. But msg'r & skype r very different, we talk alot lol.Thank you all for ur responses

  5. Please answer if u know the answer to this. USCIS is requesting copies of emails, letters, etc. Do they want the hundreds of pages it will take to copy all conversations they show also mostly video/audio with some written text throughout? This is going to take hundreds of paper and also neither messenger or skype will let me go back to 2009 when we first started talking.By the way cst service was no help other than to say contact a lawyer or make Info pass appt.

  6. Hi just to let you know as it stands I emailed our embassy and Egypts, in evacuations by US which ended on Feb. 5, if you were living there with your husband and he had a passport he could fly to country of choice US flew you out to but if he/she is still in immigration process he would have to stay in the country you were flown to prior to flight to US, (greece, turkey, etc.)and proceed getting his visa from there. They would not fly him to US with you from there otherwise.

  7. Good evenings all,

So now I am wondering if our petitions will be delayed, looked at with more detail and with injustice eyes, now that the US doesnt know what is to come from the Egyptian government.

Is there any way we can make our petitions expetited on human rights and our spouses safety? Any laws as US citizens for the protection of our family members.

Im soo worried. I just came back from Egypt, yesterday morning. Things are looking bad and getting worse.

  8. I myself would like to know the answer to this please let me know if someone answers you. Thank you and good luck.

    Guru's Out Here,

At what point in the IR1 visa processing are police clearance certificates required? I was under the impression that these are needed only during interview at the consulate abroad. Recently, came across conflicting reports that they are required at interview time Vs. at the time of DS-230 submission to NVC. On reading the Step by Step Guide, it looks like they need to be submitted along with DS-230 and NVC sends these documents to the US Consulate abroad. My queries in this regard

    • Should PCCs always be submitted along with DS-230 to NVC?
    • Is this process the same for all consulates abroad irrespective of the country of origin?
    • Will NVC not process the case and forward to the consulate w/o PCC?

To provide context, my spouse will be taking the interview at Chennai Consulate, India. Fear I might not be in a position to have all the PCCs handy in time for NVC IV submission. Hope some of you can provide guidance / share your experiences in this respect.

  9. My husband is in Giza and have not heard from him in a few days thru internet at all or call from cell phone. I pray for the souls who have lost their lives and all thier families, friends, and all protesters. The whole world is watching and praying. Im sure no embassy is working at this time on immigration papers, I pray for all of us.

  10. what that site does not add is if your Egyptian husband is christian he must get a letter from his bishop of permission to marry even in the Ministry of Justice, then go with the man from the church to the police station for a stamp also. Yes there are fees for this also. I got married to my husband there in April and after alot of running around and twice to the Ministry finally we were able to get married. I then spent three months there with my husband and his family before returning to the States.

  11. Only Flat Rate prices went up and customs fees are determined by the country they are going to and have nothing to do with USPS. The prices for flat rate boxes increased just slightly and are great for packages to Egpyt (my husband always told me things he would like and advised me of times not to send too much since he had to pay to get the box). If you have any questions about mailing through USPS you can send me a message, I do work for them and might be a little biased but I can tell you from customer experiences of my own and my customers we do offer other options for mailing to other countries. :)

My husband has never recieved any mail I sent, just letters and cards, postage was correct, address in Arabic and English, return address, but they disappeared never to be recieved or returned to me. I have important papers he will need and afraid to mail. any suggestions? Thank you

  12. Hi Ruby~

It sounds like you are waiting for the I-130 NOA2. If that is so then you are going for the CR1 visa (spousal visa). Once you get the NOA2, your "packet" with application will go to the NVC. You can follow the NVC guidelines and get majoritiy of your paperwork and your SO papers together to mail them in when they ask for them.

I know what you mean about the mail being horrible there. My husband would get my mail but ended up paying way too much for the little stuff I sent to him.

There are some great information you can find here about the NVC and getting ready for the next step in your journey. Just google James' shortcuts or Lingche's shortcuts.

    Good luck with your journey!

Sorry was away last night thank you so much for your help.

  13. Sounds like you've got the time to do the needed reading. I would get acquainted with the members and subject matter discussed in the Middle East, North Africa regional forum. Just scroll down the forums list to find it. You've got a difficult case.

I spent many months researching and reading everything I could get my hands on before I even went over there. I really love Egypt and spent three months there. So any info other than what I read every day including their news will be of great help. Thank you I will go to this forum.

  14. If her income is sufficient to qualify based on her own household size plus the intending immigrant, then YOUR FRIEND is the qualified sponsor. You also provide an affidavit of support but are not qualified. "Cosponsor" is a misnomer but commonly used here and at Consulates. The object of the whole affidavit of support exercise is to establish that the intending immigrant is unlikely to become a public charge. It's a subjective decision, not a simple minimum requirement that, if met, scores you a visa.

Forget all thoughts of "shouldn't that mean....?" It means whatever a Consular Officer decides it means.

I kind of thought that but makes no sense the word co-sponser, but I do agree it is whatever they decide it to be. I'm really aware of so many factors are involved here. My alternate plan I may have to move their to be with my husband is very real but either way the fight will continue. Thank you for your response and may have more questions in future.

  15. They won't combine your incomes. The qualified sponsor must qualify based on their own income. Financial qualification is only one issue among many to consider.

Ok Im confused full sponser has to be family member, co-sponser can be other, if they call it co-sponser then shouldn't that mean co (together with mine?) anyway she makes enough to support 2 ppl. So r they going to use just her income? (my friend) Yes I know many issues to consider also.
