  1. And just in case the OP does not know what an infopass is (the account was barely registered this morning), it is a way to make an appointment online to get help from the USCIS when you are unable to have your questions answered in any other way. And you can do it here https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

Thank you for all the quick replies but I did specify in my original thread that I went on Infopass few days ago (went on the internet and set up an interview with immigration officer last week at Newark office). Pretty much they were useless, they were repeating what I have already heard over the 1-800 line and whats worse is that officer in the first window said that my case has been already combined/approved and I should receive invitation letter in mail soon BUT officer in second window said that they just sent the request to combine both of my A-files and pretty much it will take god only knows how much longer. It's really ridiculous. I understand that they are busy but I already had my interview and exam passed, someone at USCIS didn't combine both of my A-files PRIOR to setting up the original testing/interview, in my opinion all files should have been ready at the time of interview. Right now I am afraid that my case has been thrown out of the system and is stuck somewhere.

  2. Hello,

I have applied for naturalization in April of 2009 and had an interview on September of 2009. I have passed the english/history test but I was given back form number N-652 stating that "A decision cannnot yet be made about your application" and in interviewing officers hand writing "Related A file Request", I guess they messed up and didn't combine all of my files associated with my case BEFORE the interview. Now its almost April of 2010 and I have never received any note from them in regard whether my case is moving or whatever.I have emailed USCIS a couple of times, I have called the 1-800 number numerous times asking them whats the status and basically every time they said to "wait", and recently I even went on Infopass interview and met a bunch of nasty uninformative workers that also had no clue what they were doing. So anyway, basically its taking a lot longer to combine both of my files than from the point of applying for the naturalization and getting an appointment to the actual interview :S On the bottom of the N-652 form is a note stating that if USCIS will not make a decision in 120 days from the date that is stated on the application, I have the right to request a hearing in front of US district court but from what I understand there are fees involved and possibly need of a lawyer, plus it looks like it will take up to 6 months to actually be standing in front of the judge. So my question is, is anyone familiar with similar cases, what is the usual waiting time? Are there any time limits? What options do I really have? I have dealt with USCIS on couple of occasions and for the most part they handle cases in specified time frames and I don't have any complaints. But in this case looks like someone has messed up on their part and I am afraid that my file is lost somewhere in the piles. If I wouldn't have called/emailed USCIS, they would have never send me any case status letter which makes me nervous. I have a pretty much straight forward case, everything done by the book, everything legal and yet I guess I had bad luck this time. Any help/comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
