  1. Glad you came by Happy Girl!!! You can't leave us hanging!!!I try not to think about it sometimes too, hoping that one day we will be surprised. Today we contacted our congress person and we also have an appointment June 26th...

    Good luck with that! :)

I've just heard from the congressman that USCIS still hasn't updated my case yet. Apparently they have a backlog of stuff they need to get into the system and so she couldn't give a time frame on when I'll receive my GC.

    At least it's some news....

  2. Hey there!!! I was asking about you the other day. I am so sorry you're having so much trouble. We are still waiting for DH's green card its been over 5 months ( however thats nothing compared to others waits). Please keep us updated. I don't understand why they can't get their thumbs out and get us our greencards.

    Hey! Thanks for the support!

To be honest, I tend not to hang around here much because I've been trying really hard not to think about the whole immigration mess - some weird idea that if you're expecting it, it won't happen, lol.

Well, that obviously hasn't worked, so here I am!

As to my case, I contacted the congressman again, earlier today - he says he will email USCIS again. So hopefully, that'll get things moving.

  3. Well, it's been awhile since I posted here, so I thought I'd update you all on my immigration fiasco..

I originally filed for AOS through DORA last July and was denied in January of this year because they didn't receive the evidence that I'd sent them (how surprising!). I filed an MTR which they lost (though they did manage to cash the $395 check), and so had to re-submit it.

I had been in touch with my local congressman and he mailed me a copy of an email he'd received from USCIS. This was back in April -

"MTR for **** ****** was granted on 4-10-06. Also, the I-485 and I-130 were approved. The file is intransit to have this information updated in our system. The applicant will receive notification when all this is complete."

Obviously I was overjoyed, but since then, I have heard nothing - and I have had NO official anything from USCIS since my case was denied, back in January.

I contacted the congressman again, and he has told me that it's not uncommon for them to take this long. When I asked him if I'd actually been approved (as the email suggests) he said "it is all very unclear".

I am a little more than pissed off!

Sorry for the rant. On a happier note, it's good to see that alot of you are having better luck than me!

  4. Well, USCIS are really messing me around!

The last time I posted here, I think I'd said that my AOS had been denied because they hadn't received the evidence I sent them - despite me having tracking numbers and such to prove that I did.

Well, I filed a MTR in February, and received the receipt telling me that the $385 check had been cashed. I decided to contact our local congressman again to see if he could find out how long this would take (my initial DORA interview was back in July 2005), so as you can imagine, I'm getting quite impatient!

A couple of weeks later, the congressman informs me that USCIS have not received my MTR. That's the second time they've lost something I've sent them. Of course, though, they've cashed the check. Anyway, I've now faxed over the MTR to the congressman, who has forwarded it to them, and they are now saying that I should hear in about 30 days.

What I'd like to know is, when were they going to tell me that they hadn't received my MTR, or would I have only found out when I got the deportation notice?

Sorry for the rant, but this stuff makes me so mad!

  5. Thanks for all of the positive responses.

We're going to have to go ahead and file a Motion to Reopen my case. I've already spoken with my congressman, and he's under the impression that there's not alot else we can do.

Even if it is their mistake, I doubt they'll admit it - and not until after they've received the non-refundable $385.

Oh well, I'm off to get my wisdon teeth pulled.

    Really - I'm not kidding!

    This hasn't been a good week. :(

  6. Is this what happened:

    - RFE received in August and evidence submitted;

    - Appointment in September -- no mention of outstanding evidence

    - 70th letter appointment -- still no mention of outstanding evidence

    ?

Yep, that's exactly what happened. I had wondered, also, why no mention of this way made at my infopass appointment, or with the 70th day letter.

Oh well, we'll just have to see what happens. Doesn't look like there is any way of getting around the $385 fee it is going to cost to reopen my case, though.

  7. Well, what a mess.

I got my decision yesterday telling me I had been denied due to abandonment. They say they never recieved the additional evidence that I sent in. What I would like to know is, why did it take them this long to tell me that they hadn't recieved something in August?

Anyway, I can file a motion to reopen my case, which i am going to do.

Does anyone know which form I'd need? The letter was very vague.
