I am aware of the process of obtaining an F-1 visa, when i say POE i am referring to the questioning upon entry with the i20 in hand.
I currently have a job with my employer; but would have to quit if i went. Other than that my ties are very limited as i am only 22. What kind of stuff can i do to show ties?

My friend has an approved I-130 from 1979 and is currently in the USA; he want to adjust his status for a green card. Heres The story: The petition was sent to Libya in 1979 and was not received by the beneficiary because the US Embassy in Libya was burned down. My friend entered the US the same year as a visitor and went to the US Consulate to see what could be done of his case. They quickly told him that he was misrepresenting himself and told him that he would not be able to adjust status.
30 Years later...
My friend was able to enter the US recently under an L1 and wants to use that I-130 approved petition in compliance with is sponsor to adjust status. Is this possible? Would the past misrepresentation case be brought up again? The sponsor is his brother.
Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Just wanted to provide an update. I was sent to secondary inspection and given an I-94 with a 20 day B2 visa. The border officer really liked the employment letter and the itinerary which showed my round trip ticket. Hope this thread helps anyone with similar issues.

Hi 7 months ago i was denied entry into the USA due to lack of ties to Canada. I have visited since but have been sent to secondary inspection before being let through (and given a I-94 with a 20 day visa). What kind of problems would i face if I attempted to attain a F1 visa at the POE?

In October 2009, I was denied entry to canada because of lack of ties to canaada. Upon further inspection the border officer discovered my US Degree, she asked me how i was studying and i explained that i was under my fathers visa in the past (however there was no visa's under my name). Anyways, the officer told me that i was NOT banned for overstaying my visa which she could not find, and sent me on my way with a letter stating what i should bring next time to ensure ties to canada.
I am planning to enter the US on monday and want to visit some family i have down there. I have the following things to show ties:
-job stating my vacation time of 1 week
-phone bills
-gym membership
-new lease i just signed
- voter registration card
-my recent work schedules
my qeustion is, what should i expect when i go on monday???? i am very stressed because of this and any help would be greatley appreciated!

I will be obtaining a loan from Ontario, and want to ask my employer for a letter which states that I will/can work after my studies. I hope that will be sufficient. The school is in the Atlanta region and yes they have given me a conditional acceptance. I am going for a masters program; do the border officers question where i obtained my bachelors?
