  1. So... You just kept waiting for NOA doing nothing or did you call USCIS and they respoded it?

Well, since your NOA date is on June, you are June filer now...?

I was about to do that (transfer to June filers) but I saw ICEPECK for Vermont CSC with June 1 NOA date and yet is still part of May. FYI, I did not "keep waiting for NOA doing nothing". I was following up over the phone but was informed to wait for a 30 day window from the time they receive it before doing another follow up. From the time they receive it and before the 30 day window ends, the ball is no longer in my court. I can understand an instruction when being told. Nevertheless, i will be more than happy to transfer to June. Anyway, goodluck to all may filers.

  2. Check cashed this morning! In regard to tax transcripts/returns here is my 2 cents: I have ordered the transcripts a month and a half ago. They never arrived! I didnt have access to a fax machine either to call them up and have them faxed. So I gave up and I made copies of our tax returns including our W2s and included them in the package. They aren't turbotax returns. However, time will tell if I did the right thing, I guess.

Hi, just want to find out if they did accept your tax returns copies.

  3. Thank God, my VISA was approved last July 1 but I didn’t want to rejoice until I have it in hand. Finally having it today. I’ve known of some cases where visas are approved only to be told later on that they have been put thru Administrative Processing. I was getting paranoid and running all sorts of scenarios in my mind. Waiting for the VISA to be in your hand is just as horrible as waiting for your turn at the consul’s cubicle, lol.

I’m glad they didn’t have any questions about my husband’s reestablishing domicile and had no apprehension in accepting my co-sponsor, my husband having zero income for the last 4 years being a fulltime student. I guess they don’t have this issue with IR/CR categories, only with the K1s.

I would like to thank all the vjers who have in one way or another helped us. Without this support group, things might have been more difficult. Knowing that you are not alone in this journey makes things a little bit lighter. To everyone out there going thru this process, hang in there and be patient. You will get over this.

  4. Thanks for the info but I was wondering if you address the letter to the consul general and what do you address that person as? Honorable Mr or Mrs Whomever? I am going to try and email them to ask the question and see what kind of response I get.

Thanks again for the help!

    You can put there:

    The Consular Officer

    US Embassy Manila

    Roxas Boulevard

    Ermita Manila

    Sir/Madam:

  5. No matter how nonsense a question seems to somebody its not nonsense to me and I really appreciate Bernie C and Trailmix for their replies. VJ is fortunate to have you two. I posted it in this forum because this issue usually crops up for those who filed at the local embassy.

I think Trailmix understands my dilemma because what he stated in the first paragraph is what i'm actually thinking. I'm in contact with Mrs. faith and I'm asking if there's anyone out there who went thru manila embassy with the same concern and who happens to read this post, please message me, thanks.

  6. Instructions for the I-864, basics of proving domicile:

    15. Country of Domicile. This question is asking you to indicate the country where you maintain your principal residence and where you plan to reside for the foreseeable future. If your mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the United States, but your country of domicile is the United States, you must attach a written explanation and documentary evidence indicating how you meet the domicile requirement. If you are not currently living in the United States, you may meet the domicile requirement if you can submit evidence to establish that any of the following conditions apply:

    A. You are employed by a certain organization. (lists organizations on the I-864)

    B. You are living abroad temporarily. If you are not currently living in the United States, you must show that your trip abroad is temporary and that you have maintained your domicile in the United States. You can show this by providing proof of your voting record in the United States, proof of paying U.S. State or local taxes, proof of having property in the United States, proof of maintaining bank or investment accounts in the United States, or proof of having a permanent mailing address in the United States. Other proof could be evidence that you are a student studying abroad or that a foreign government has authorized a temporary stay.

    C. You intend in good faith to reestablish your domicile in the United States no later than the date of the intending immigrant's admission or adjustment of status.

Thanks for your replies. I see other posts on proving domicile here so I assume its ok to post it here. Even if I filed thru DCF my visa category is still CR1/IR1. My husband spent the rest of his life in US except for the time (4years) when he came here to study but he has recently completed his college degree thats why hes going back to US. Thus my questions in the first post. However, if he intends to stay here until my visa is approved but has no voting record, did not file taxes(he has no income to declare and his father will be the joint sponsor), no properties, no bank account, would the document to prove that he studied here be enough?

  7. I have read several threads about members sharing their interview experiences particularly those in Montreal where the interviewing officer suggest that petitioners go back to the US to reestablish domicile before proceeding with the visa processing.

I filed thru DCF in the Philippines and granting that my husband goes back to the US ahead of me a week before my interview (which is silly) just to do away with this silly proving reestablishing domicile thing, (1)does the embassy really take the steps to verify that the petitioner is in the states at the time of the interview? (2)Would a verbal statement from the beneficiary suffice or documentation is still necessary to prove that the petitioner is really back in the states such as taking picture with the US post office as background, huh?

    Any idea?

  8. My wife went to the NBI office and was told they don't issue a ID card. Is this card only issued in Manila or the larger cities

It's initially available in Metro Manila only. Maybe later on it will be made available for the provincial offices.

  9. regarding police clearance from the age of 16..For Philippines do I need to get a police clearance from all cities or places that I lived in?

Or does it cover all the places in Phils the NBI clearance as police clearance?

also, and this may be tougher

another thing...is CFO still needed if I exit in Kuala lumpur? or does it only apply for Filipino who exit in Manila?

U need only one police clearance from the philippines. U may ask the philippine embassy in kuala lumpur if they would require you to attend the CFO seminar.

  10. Hi got the form DS2001 now and compared it from my friend whose DCF filer also. But i have a question, What is a DS-230 Bar coded cover sheet? Is that included in the packet 3 they send you by mail? If so then we really have to wait again for their packet 3 to come and cant just download and submit it??

You dont need the bar coded cover sheet. As long as you have the case number, just send the DS230(wih unsigned part 2) and DS 2001 to this address:

    Consular Section

    Immigrant VISA Unit

    American Embassy Manila

    1201 Roxas Boulevard

    0930 Ermita, Manila

    Hope this helps.

  11. The original poster wrote:

We're both living in Manila. Just wondering which address do I need to use, Manila or USA as a Sponsor's Address on Form I-864 (part 4) "Information On the Sponsor"

    Line #12: Mailing Address?

Line #13: Place of Residence? (if different from mailing address)

    Line #15: Country of Domicile?

I am also in the same situation. I am filing for an IR-1 visa for my my Filipina wife. We both live in the Philippines at the moment.

Line #13 (Place of Residence): To be able to use the DCF option with the US Embassy in Manila, I must show proof that I am a "permanent resident" of the Philippines and currently living in the Philippines ... So it is obvious that in question #13 (Place of Residence), I would need to show my residence right here in the Philippines.

Line #12 (Mailing Address): Well, currently wouldn't my mailing address also be right here in the Philippines too, since that's where I'm living at the present time?

Line #15 (Country of Domicile): If you read the instructions, it says the following:

"This question is asking you to indicate the country where you maintain your principal residence and where you plan to reside for the foreseeable future. If your mailing address and/or place of residence is not in the United States, but your country of domicile is the United States, you must attach a written explanation and documentary evidence indicating how you meet the domicile requirement.

If you are not currently living in the United States, you may meet the domicile requirement if you can submit evidence to establish that any of the following conditions apply:"

Then it gives a whole bunch of various situations.

Personally, I am writing "USA" on line #15, and I guess I will need to include a letter and submit some kind of proof that I have taken steps to establish domicile in the United States at a time no later than the date of the intending immigrant's admission or adjustment of status per the requirement.

    Ron,

    .

Thanks Turbota. But as the embassy requires that the petitioner (as sponsor also)should be in the US at the time of the benificiary's interview and which is also the time that the I-864 is submitted to the embassy, wouldn't it be logical to indicate the US address? I'm confused. :-(

  12. I attended the 10 am schedule in PRISM. The guard told me to go to 3rd floor. When I got there, I went to the only window there. The lady asked me about my fiance's citizenship and if I already have my visa. After answering her questions, she gave me a form, asked me to fill it out and to give it back to her. After filling out the form, she told me to proceed to the last door. There were already several people there, most were females. Some of them are going to other countries in Europe and Southeast Asia.

The seminar started with an introduction of the organization, which started around 10:25. It lasted for about 10 minutes, it was very brief. After that, they explained about the offer of BDO to Filipinos going overseas. They explained what it was. It took a little long because we had to fill out the form from the bank.

Next was the group counseling. All of the USA bound people were asked to stay in the room. The others were directed to other rooms. The discussion started, they then gave us printed papers about the discussion. Just the things that we have to bring and what to do on the day of departure and arrival. Other things discussed were US immigration policy, getting settled, and naturalization requirements.

The last part was the one on one counseling. Here are some of the questions asked:

    1. What is the maiden name of your fiance's mother?

    2. How long have you known your fiance?

    3. Where did you meet?

    4. When did he visit you?

    5. Is he divorced? If yes, how many times?

    6. How many kids does he have?

The lady asked my for my fiance's divorce paper, photocopies of my passport and visa. After the counseling, I was asked to pay for the certificate at the window. It costs Php 250.00. After paying, I had my picture taken. Waited for a little while then got my certificate. I was out there around 1pm. Went to BDO to get my ATM card, however, the line was very long. I had my lunch and when I went back, line was still very long. I asked if it's possible to just withdraw my application to open an account, they said yes,so I took my ID.

I took a taxi going to CFO (the girls told me that a pedicab in Quirino Ave. costs about 60 pesos). I only paid 40 pesos, cheaper than the pedicab, hehe. There were a lot of people in CFO. The guard asked for a photocopy of my CFO certificate. He then gave me an ID then told me to go to window 1 for verification. The woman gave me a form, I filled it out then gave it back with my passport. Next was payment, then I waited for maybe 15 minutes before my name was called. They gave me back my passport, and other papers about immigrating to the USA. I was done by 2:30 I was only there for 30 minutes.

Can anybody attend the seminar without the VISA and just come back for the CFO sticker?

  13. I know the US Embassy controls the medical exam at the country in question. They also have approved medical facilities that are allowed to perform these exams. I think medical exam information is sent out along with the appointment interview notice but I am not sure on that.

My wife is currently working in her country but will stop working once things get close to VISA Time. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the exam performed in advance at one of these facilities while my wife still has insurance coverage from her place of employment?

She can have her medical (walk-in)as long as she already has the case number. Unfortunately, her insurance may not be used to cover expenses for the medical.

  14. it depends in the doctors what vaccination they will give. She will have a blood test, xray, urine test, immunization interview and physical examination. I had my vaccination when I was young but when I went in my medical last week they gave me MMR and anti tetanus..

Did you bring any record of your previous vaccinations? If you merely say you had it as a child and has no record to bring, would they still administer? How about the one for chicken pox?

  15. Hey Thanks for the quick reply ! yea I already shot them an e-mail but calling the call center is like talking to a robot, they have canned responces only and when you ask them a valid question they tell you to call the embassy and you get a recording telling you to call the call center blah blah blah, I just thought I saw another VJ'er with this same issue but I can't find it in a search.

    Thanks again ! :)

It's ok to fill up the new version of DS230. When my husband first secured a form for the I-130, they also gave him an old form but we did not use it. Instead we used the new and downloaded form for I-130 and it was accepted anyway.
