  1. Congrats BB and Thansur,

I was getting nervous right around lunchtime and neither of your had updated. See? I told you it'd be a breeze.

    YAY!!!!!!!!!

Aww... we were thinking of you as well, SPSGUY. When we were at the entrance, I was like "oh god, plz let him in" like that. Thank you so much for all your great tips and advices. At least, I had something to expect of since I got some info from you before hand. :star:

One important question is, "when did your wife go to pick up her visa?" Per the CO, they told us to come pick up our visa on Friday at 11 AM. When did you and your wife collect your visa? and how about the passport? Did they keep it with them after the interview? We just wanna make sure we could get it this Friday, and not Friday next week. Thanks, just hoping you would be checking this thread tmr :D hehe

I believe BB & Tharnsur are a husband & wife.

Yes, Tat is right :) We are husband and wife (L) He is right here next to me when i'm posting this ^ ^ (L)

Thank you everyone for the congratulations! it is so heart warming and touchy, we are grateful to be in this journey with you all. Best of luck to everyone who is waiting for the interview. Don't worry, I'm sure you will be fine. :)

  2. APPROVED, APPROVED, APPROVED!!!!!!!!:dance:    We gonna try to write a brief review of what happened this morning haha... The CO and everyone in the room couldn't help but laughing at us! Glad we could bring some happy ending as I was so worried that we gonna have to come back in the afternoon, cuz they called out our queue number VERY close to lunch time! lol... Anyway, everything was "awesome"! Just hoping that we could get our visa in hands this Friday. :innocent:

Congrats to Vivek! We're going to get the flood of approvals as in approved, approved, approved  Thank you everyone, we couldn't have gone this far without you all. All the best to everyone! :star:

  3. BB how are you?? 3 more days?? Jezzzz, I'd be freaking out!

I wish you the best of luck dear!!! Let us know how it went ok?

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweetie, I'm trying to keep myself calm, but fail. I'm so freaking nervous, just wishing everything will be alright. I will surely keep you all posted. Have you got your evidence straighten out yet, Natalia? I rmb you got the majority of them done since we were at NVC stage, didn't you? All the best to me, to you, and every May interviewees. (F)

Good luck to you and Tharnsur........ You guys will do great.

Best luck to you and your wife too, Vivek. We're going to be freaking out together on the same day :P Keep us posted :)

  4. Congrats Esterella on your interview.

Wife is enroute to Chennai with my MIL. Medical tomorrow morning. Wheeew I kept calling her yesterday to make sure she had all the papers and slipped in an interview question here and there between conversations. She was like stop making me nervous ......... Looks like she got it all under control so I am taking it easy this weekend. devil.gif

One of her aquaintance had an CR1 interview in Chennai yesterday . He did not have the 2009 tax documents so they are waiting for him to send it in before they can issue a visa. Folks take your 2009 Tax documnets with you for the interview. If you filed for an extension show proof of that.

    Happy May everybody. yes.gif

Oh my god, Vivek. Due to time difference, I would be going for the war before you :D:( Don't know if I should be happy or sad lol... All the best to everyone of us!

  5. [...]

Tharnsur, your wife is getting excited as this is a special day in a person's life. But no worries you guys will be approved in no time. And I bet you two will be entering the U.S. even before me and my wife this time around. WE don't plan to go 'til later this year. btw, it's Friday, not Thursday when we pick up my wife's VISA. The consulate and I were confused. He wrote FRiday on the blue card but he told me Thursday. Anyways it's Friday.

All seriousness aside, the funny thing is some people on VJ get excited about getting the PINK slip. Here in Cambodia the pink slip is what you get when you don't get approved. It lists the reasonings for a rejection. At first I was excited when people were walking out with pink slips but when a few people that got rejected also walked out with them, it dawned on me when my wife got approved for K3 we were in fact given a small blue card with instructions to pick up the visa.

And it was, look for the blue card. Not the pink slip.

God, give me "blue" slip too, and I'll love you forever!

  6. Hey group! Can someone post the link to the required vaccination schedule, I can't remember where I saved it and am too tired to search :help: My husband never got the Hep B vaccine, he'll call in the morning to clarify everything and get it done ASAP if needed. It's 3 doses, so he's worried there may be a waiting period between doses.....figure it out tomorrow...YAWN!!!

    thanks group

It is 30 days, 4 hours, 13 minutes and 51 seconds until Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 9:00:00 AM (Tirane time)

At the place where I got my medical check up, those who are above 18 won't be required to take Hep B vaccine. They would give us 3 series of vaccine though, and even if his country requires that, he can just take the first shot, and takes the next 2 shots when he's there in the US. Good luck

  7. SPSguy - CONGRATS!!!!!!!! My wife basically woke me up in the middle of the night saying that you got approved!!! Now it's our turn. I'm hoping and praying that our interview went as smooth as yours.

:D Sorry sweetie. I shouldn't have done that this morning lol... I'm praying the same thing that everything would be fine. (L) OMG, 7 more day!!!!!

  8. Sorry freinds. I DID NOT HEAR THE WORD APPROVED this morning. But here's what happened:

We woke up bright and early. My wife puts on her professional outfit, pulled out a nice business casual suit for me to wear ( THAT'S WHY I LOVE HER SO MUCH ). We arrived about 50 minutes before appt. time. There were about 20 scheduled interviews. Although some people were sheduled for 7 AM, 8 AM, and 9 AM, the actual interviews didn't start 'til about 9. The consulates were probably still eating breakfast between 7-9. The local staff basically took our photos, email, phone bills, etc.etc.. We are then given a number to wait for finger printing, and again asked to wait for the interview. I was told by the clerk to go walk up with my wife ONLY if I am asked to go by the consulate. BUT I KNOW BETTER.

BY THE WAY THIS IS THE PART THAT THE US EMBASSY IN CAMBODIA NEEDS TO MAKE CLEAR BEFORE PEOPLE SHOW UP FOR THEIR INTERVIEW. My wife was asked for 3 passport photos when we checked IN and asked for her Cambodian national ID card. Fortunately, my wife had this hunch about the passport photos and took them a day before. Otherwise we probably would have been asked to return another day with the photos. SO MAKE SURE YOU SHOW UP WITH 3 PASSPORT PHOTOS EVEN IF THE APPOINTMENT LETTER STATES THEY HAVE EVERYTHING ALREADY.

While we were sitting for the appointment and finger printing, some people could not check-in and had to go home to get basic things like photos, birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.. I think VJers are smarter than the average person when it comes to knowing what to bring to the interview.

We were able to listen in to a few interviews as the interviews were conducted through windows. Many K1 Visas were rejected. One K1 visa guy was told that the consulate did not believe a word he said. He lied about when they met. He lied about first time they met. He lied about ...... And was asked if the engagement ceremony was a fake.

An elderly woman was rejected a visa to go visit her son in the states. The consulate expressed her remorse and said she was sorry to have to do it since the woman's son was ill in the hospital. BUT, she had to reject the visa.

Another lady for CR1 went up for a 20 minute interview and was rejected. I did not hear the details but overheard her asking the consulate if she could return for a second interview. The response was no, that it was the final interview.

Some people waiting for their interviews "appear" innocent just like you and I but through their responses, it was EASY to detect that they were not telling the truth. Some of them did not know how they really met their loves ones, did not really know who or how they were introduced, petitioner lacking financial support, etc.. Basically of the ten people ahead of us, perhaps 2-3 were approved.

I do not want to jump to a conclusion but after sitting, waiting and listening to others for about 90 minutes, it seems those that are legitimate and able to move on in life in America were approved. Those that did not respond smoothly, or truthfully, or lack financial support, were rejected.

For me and my wife ( God, I still love her ), but we were so excited and anxious for her interview this morning -- get this --- My lovely wife forgot to wear her wedding ring to the interview. After her morning shower and going over potential interview questions she totally forgot to put her ring back on. We did not notice it, until ten minutes before her interview, when I looked over at her finger and there was nothing there. So I quietly whispered to hear and told her if she is asked to tell the truth. Just say we were excited about the interview and forgot to put on the darn thing.

So finally our number got called. My wife walked up by herself to the window. But remember when the clerk said not to go with my wife unless I am asked, well, I didn't listen. I told my wife to go first empti-handed like she had forgotten to bring some paperwork and stuff , then about four seconds later, I walked up with the rest of the paperwork for her. The consulate had just finished greeting my wife and there I came with the rest of the paperwork. He greeted me as I brought the stuff and I just stood there next to my wife.

The interview lasted I am not kidding. ABOUT 3 MINUTES. I waited 90 minutes, spent hours preparing paperwork, stressed out for weeks over all the what IFs for a 3 minute interview. We were expecting 10-20 minutes like the other people but we were asked only a few questions:

The consulate initially asked my wife to sign the DS-230 application and took the oath. From there on I basically answered every question on behalf of my wife. My wife was surprised because it seems the consulate was not even interested in hearing my response. Before I could finish answering his questions, he went on to the next. He simply asked how we met, how we initiated contact, what I do for a living, what she does for a living, what will my wife and I do when we arrive in the U.S. I could see the confusion in the consulates eyes regarding the fact that my wife had already have a K3 but he did not ask much.

Three minutes later, the consulate ask if I had seen any changes in Cambodia since I left at a young age. I told him that I am an American but I have had this gap in my heart to give back to Cambodia for two years and now I am ready to go back.

    HE DID NOT SAY APPROVED.

What he did was took out a small blue card and wrote a date and time and said come pick up your visa on Thursday at about 11 AM.

    That's it folks!

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I am a business advisor, trainer and consultant. Others get nervous around me. But I could feel my right arm shaken this morning. Whewwwwwwwwww! God bless everyone.

OH MY GOD, Congratulations to you and your wife! I have been looking forward to hearing from you all morning  Honestly, I feel even more nervous after reading your review. My hands and feet are getting unusually cold now as a result of nervousness:(

Anyway, you could go in with her? One silly question, what language did you choose to have your interview with? Khmer or English? Could we choose the language of our preference?

  9. Good luck to you.

Keep in mind when coming in contact with Cambodian workers ( based on my experience ) they tend to act like they know more than you. It's almost tabboo for them to admit they don't know or might lack information. So ask them what you can show as proof in the United States vs. telling them they are wrong or attempting to rationalize your need for the form ds 2053.

Have a safe and happy Khmer new year!

True  I've noticed this too hehe... Thanks for your advice. Happy Khmer New Year to you and your loved ones!

  10. Many people can start a new health file without problems. All you do is pay a fee to have a doctor do the checkup, and blood test but you have to pay. It's cheaper to get things done in Cambodia. The thing is when you go to the U.S, nobody knows which shots you've gotten or any detail re. your health. This form is basically a formal document stating what your health condition is and serves as the offical record for you. Thus, hospitals and clinics can use the form to start a file for you.

Since you will not be adjusting status there is no need for a second medical checkup.

Since IOM has already completed the form, the best step forward is to "ask" them what you can show to hospitals and doctors in the U.S. as a health history for you in Cambodia.

I'll ask them for that when I go to IOM again this early May for another vaccination shot. Thank you so much, SPSGUY :) Really appreciate your help.

  11. The DS 2053 is filled out by the medical examiner. When you ask for one, they will make a photocopy for you of the completed form. This is what you need to create a health record at the State Health Department where you will be living in the United States. Otherwise, they will ask you to pay for another checkup to establish record.

Everything you NEED to pass your interview is inside the envelope. Just take that to the interview.

As for me, my wife went in for her checkup on Friday. The poor service provided at SOS clinic is something to reckon with. They could not find her previous record and her vaccination history, took them a few hours to sort things out. Now just yesterday I get this call from the clinic that the doctor wanted to see my wife a second time. We don't know why and they didn't tell us except my wife will have to come in on Monday morning.

I tell you, nothing is scarier than having a doctor call you to come in for a second visit after having given a blood test.

    SPSGUY,

I was worried when there was a one day delay of the result that i'm supposed to picked up. I thought there was something wrong, but in the end, everything seemed to turn out alright. I'm not surprised that you both were scared and consider all the "what if" scenario. Glad to know it wasn't something that may hold up the process.

What I don't understand is when I asked them, the IOM staffs, for a photocopy of the form ( or perhaps I wasn't explaining them precisely), they told me that I can't obtain any copies of the medical record, but to simply give the consulate officer that brown sealed envelope on the day of my interview.

So are you telling me that without that form, I would have problems later on in the future with the Sate Health Department when i'm there? Did your wife request for the copy of that DS-2053? I'm thinking to go back to IOM, and asked them for that if I have to. I definitely don't want to repeat this medical exam process :(

Thanks...We have been going over all the evidence of relationship. I know we have more than enough, but i want to have more than needed so there is no question. Mhay is getting ready to call on the CFO seminar at PRISM...hopefully she can knock that out on thursday too. This week is going to be draining on me though...at least I will be pretty busy at work, but wednesday evening it will most likely drag on until I get Mhay's text to call her. There is quite a few interviews this week, so it should be a good week for everyone.

All the best in the world to you and your wife, Scott. Can't wait to hear good news from you.

  12. That sheet is the vaccination documentation sheet which was filled up by your doctor and is presumably in your sealed medical package.

    Don't worry about it.

They also gave me a copy to look over it so that I knew how the medical was going to be set up but they told me that I don't need to fill it up.

It's all in the package, and you should be fine.

Thank you so much for the instant response. I'm feeling a lot at ease now. I'm glad to know that I don't have to fill that DS-2053 form. :) I have one last question, dear. When i was doing the research, I've seen some people are having trouble with the RFE at the adjustment of status or some sort, and it had something to do with their medical exam history. Do we have to keep any forms or records for future use? To be honest, I definitely don't want to have any potential problems back here in my country when I can't do anything about it. Hmm...

P.S I feel like when I need help, you are always there for me (F)(L) Thank you so much <3

  13. To Sachinky, SPSGUY, VJers,

I have some questions guys. Do we have to do something with DS-2053 form? I may not have done enough research regarding this form as in whether or not I have to bring it with me on the interview day. Can anybody tell me if we need to fill this form? (FYI, that form looks complicated to me)

I got my medical examination done, and already got the result with the brown sealed envelope in hand. I remember SPSGUY suggested us to request the copy of the result or some sort, and I did ask them so, but was told that the result is meant to be kept in secret except to the surgeon and the consulate officers.

They gave me the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet, but  I have no idea if the DS-2053 is in that sealed envelope. Is that form required at the interview? :help:

  14. Good morning, everyone.

Tatyana, I'm soooo happy for you!! You made it for May!!! So in the end, did Husby take it better? Silly boys and their silly boy reactions. Hehehehe.

Jaxson, you're next! Are you ready?

Tharnsur and BB, I'm glad it was your package they sent yesterday. Have you guys organized your evidence and all? Any New Year celebrations? Family get togethers? Husby wants to put me on webcam and introduce me to the family I didn't get to meet yet. I haven't given him an answer yet. I hope the new year brings you joy and prosperity!

Husby's giant gift arrived last night. A TON of yarn and other crochet goodies. 15 lbs of it! Yay!

Dear, we're still haven't got all the evidence straighten out yet, still in the process. I'm thinking to include some of our posts on VJ thread as well lol.. that way they would know how out of mind I had become during the "waiting" process lol... Do you think it's a good idea?

As far as the plan for new year, we still haven't come up with any. Hubby wouldn't be here with me until early May when we have the interview. Awww... I just can't wait to see him. Miss him sooooo much :(

Do you speak Thai by the way? No need to think lol... just get on the webcam and speak with them :D All the best to you and your "prince" ;)

  15. I wish I were one of the April interviewees, but well, early May isn't that bad since my country has a whole bunch of public holiday in April :)

To SPSGuy: I hope I can learn from your experience since your wife will be having the interview 1 week ahead of us. Please give us some tips and advices, we just wanna make sure we didn't allow any little spaces for the CO to doubt our marriage :) Keep us posted of your interview result, ok? Thanks
