just let them know about the civil wedding
if they ask why the long wait, well let them know your reasons, let them understand that it's real and all.. in the Phiippines, I noticed that as long as you have evidence of financial support, ongoing relationship, and they can see your inlove you guys won't get denied
when I had my interview, there was only one girl who was denied who i knew of, well first coz the age diff was huge! she was 19, the guy was 50 something, and her answers to the consulate didn't really correlate to her supporting documents.
As long as there's consistency during the interview, you guys will be alright
the previous post was right, a yes no is better than storytelling everything coz then they'll have a reason to askk too much questions lol plus the interview is mostly very quick

hi i had my interview yesterday, and the Co asked me if i have a date for the wedding i said yes i showed him the wedding contract of the hotel etc so i guess its a good evidence that ur relationship is genuine... good luck
are you referring of your wedding plans within 90 days of your arrival in the US? or are you referring a wedding in the philippines? Because mine is a wedding in the Philippines Next year, thats the plan im talking and the one in US will only be a civil wedding not much of a preparation.

Sounds good but you may want to word it differently. Speak of it as though it as a ceremony where all friends and family will celebrate your marriage. Make absolutely sure the interviewer knows both of you have plans to legally wed in a civil way within 90 days of POE.
Thanks for the comment! Yes thats what i thought, im afraid it might confuse them because , the wedding im talking about will be next year and not on his arrival. So i guess my fiancee really have to reiterate that its like a ceremony next year and a civil wedding next month! I am really scared to what i read yesterday. tHANKS AGAIN!

Hi everybody, I don't know where to start from about my journey. I am going to be brief as possible. My fiance is a Nigerian resident in Ghana. We had our first interview in Ghana April 12th. I traveled to Ghana for the interview. At the interview, the consular was very nice, we talked about Houston weather. He said everything about our relationship is okay but he is not use to seeing Nigeria birth certificate. He gave us appointment to come back in two weeks (26th april) so he can get in touch with the Nigeria consulate about my fiance court sworn birth certificate.
On the second interview, it was somebody else that attended to us. She was very rude, she said she will not issue the visa from their office because they not familiar with Nigeria document, and will send out petition back to U.S. I started crying than she said the only thing she can do is to send out petition to Nigeria. I agreed and left for u.s 3 day later. We got e-mail from lagos that our interview been set for 6/28/2010, and to redo medical and police report.
My fiance was refused today on the grand that we've been dating for 6 years without marriage. the consulate said " why you not married after dating for 6 years? this relationship is not fake, i am refusing you the visa and sending your case back to u.s" We had every proof ( relationship and engagement pictures, telephone record, bank transfers, letters, e-mails) but she didn't want to see any our prove. I contacted my senator when I first returned from Ghana but she said fiance issue is not her priority.
What do I do now? do I wait for the refusal and appeal or go ahead to marry and file K3? please I need your advice.
I don't know what to do! I have cried my eyes swollen, I am so depressed, I can't eat, o my God i am so confuse.

hello VJ's
My fiance will have his interview in 2 days, there are some issues thats been bothering us! This is our story, my fiance and have been together as a couple for 7 years but weve been engaged for 2 years, we are planning for a big wedding on April 30 2011, with regards to our preparation we had our venue and reception reserved and downpayments have made, save the date CARDS have been sent. Now we know we have to get married within 90 days upon my fiance"s arrival in the united states, which we plan to do it on july 25 it will be civil wedding. Now my question is Can we include the wedding preparations in the proof of genuine engagement considering the date of the wedding? What will be the red flags if we include it? or are we still ok if we dont ? We were bothered since we read one of the case thats was just brought up here in VJ just today that they've been dating for 6 years and they have all the proofs of ongoing relationship but still they denied the visa with the grounds of " when they ask the fiance why are they not married yet and from there they assume its a fake and they denied it. Now we are so confused, we have all the proofs pictures name it we have it all but we didnt plan to include the wedding preaparations coz we thought it might be a red flag to them not until i encountered this case.
pls help! thanks

----That is exactly why im confused because one of the question is where will he live here in US, Yes he will be living with me in the apartment not in the previous address! But i dont want to fill another form for the change of address . In the Visa application we would like to be consistent with the previous address eventhough technically speaking he will be living with me in the apartment. Will that be ok? Im just worried because he is not actually gonna live in that previous address!
@ Andy i would like that but it says that if i change the address i have to notify USCIS within 30 days that i moved by filing a form i think! I dont wanna go through that anymore if its possible. If we will put the new address in the visa application will it not confuse them because the address they have for me is my previous address. Thanks for the reply.

Not a problem (USCIS does not ask for your car insurance), but make sure that the address you and your fiance list in all the paperwork is the SAME.
Next steps:
Packet 3 Forms that will ask for your address in the US: DS-230, DS-156,
They may ask your fiance where you live in the US.
Just make sure your answers are consistent.
