Have any June filers attempted to sign up on uscis.gov for updates on their case and check the status on their case?

We tried and it said the receipt number wasn't recognized. Everything else seems fine - we got the one year extension letter and biometrics appt, and husband had biometrics and all was fine. Figured we'd sign up for alerts/updates, etc. and was surprised it says case can't be found. Anyone else?

You use the receipt number on the Biometric notice, not on the NOA1. It will work.

Booking a hotel and a flight is not that hard to do. If she can't even deal with this, she's going to have a rude awakening when she gets to the US. She's going to get into more stressful situations than this throughout her journey If she doesn't want to do it herself, she can call a travel agency and they'd do it for her. It's probably better if you send her the cash thru western union and she just books the flight herself.

Finally got my NOA 1. Postmarked 8/20. Received 8/22. Well according to them, it's a copy of the notice they sent which I never got. So I'm just happy to get my one year extension. It took me two service requests for them to finally send me my NOA1. So to all those who still haven't gotten theirs, calling works.

As long as they know basic english and can read and write, anybody should be able to navigate through an airport. When I flew from Manila to SFO, it was my first time as well. It was easy and fast. We had no communication but he was waiting for me when I landed at SFO, so it was easy breezy. No need to spend time and money to accompany her. The US is one big place and she can start getting used to it by travelling alone.

Ours took 5 months from start to finish, including visa in hand. Congratulations!

No NOA1 yet, so pretty weird. Hope it comes next!

My wife's visa was approved 2 days ago. She will enter the USA in mid-October. How soon is she allowed to travel outside USA? we want to go to Canada to visit some family and friends.

And is there anything we need to do beforehand in preparation for a trip to Canada?

you might want to check if she her passport allows her to travel to Canada. Since she's not a US citizen yet, and so she has an Indonesian passport. If she does, she might need a visa to enter Canada.

Thanks for the info about getting through to a live person on their 800#. It's such a pain to get to a live person on there....I'll call them on Monday.

If you already got your NOA1, you shouldn't have to call. Your biometric notice might be on it's way. I called because we didn't have a NOA1 or biometric so I got concerned.

Just got our Biometrics notice for 8/30. Yay! Letter was postmarked 8/2. So it was sent out exactly on the day I called

I'm getting very concerned...I haven't received my biometrics appointment notice yet. I mailed application 6/23, rec'vd 6/25. According to timeline, others have mailed since me and received theirs...Should I call them??

Call them. I'm a July filer and sent out ours on July 12th. They received it on the 13th and since then I've never gotten anything but the check has been cashed. No NOA1 or Biometric appt. I got a tip on Visajourney after failing so many times in trying to call. Call the 800 number and then when they ask you to choose a language, don't press anything. They would think you have a rotary phone and will then transfer you to a real person.

When I finally got ahold of somebody, she told me they are reviewing the case but she would go ahead a open a service request. She gave me my receipt number so now I can check my status online. She also said to expect the NOA1 and biometric one week from now

My love is trying to send her items to the US early. She lives in the Manila region, what is the safest method for her to transport those things to the US? Thanks for your information in advance.

EDIT: I guess she needs bigger box's than most. She has some camera equipment, make up, and dance shoes and clothes.

I know Johnny Air Cargo which has an office in Manila can ship a big box for $200. It's bigger than most LBC boxes, I think.

They received ours on July 13 and i was getting worried as I haven't heard anything back. I finally was able to call and talk to an immigration officer after a tip I got from visa journey. Call the 1-800 number and when it asks you to choose a language, don't press anything. They will think you have a rotary and will transfer you to a customer service agent.

So I finally found out that they just haven't sent my NOA1 or my biometric letter yet. But she gave me my receipt number so I can check the status online. You can try calling them and hopefully they can find out something for you.

We had an interview on July 18, and it was APPROVED! Lasted about 15 mins and it was pretty easy. And they mailed out my green card on the 24th of Aug and I got it on the 30th. I was really amazed at how easy and quick it was for us. We didnt get transferred to CSC becoz we got an RFE, plus we live in California. So I am thankful that it was quite a painless process from start to finish despite the RFE. I feel for those who are still waiting though. And I wish you all goodluck.

Woohoo! Just got my AP today and my interview notice for 8/18/2010. weird coz there was no update online except the one from a month ago when they said they have recieved my RFE response. I was starting to panic since we havent heard anything after that. But when I got home there it was, our interview notice. Now I can relax. or maybe not since our interview is coming.

Our case has been in limbo for about a month now after we sent they acknowledged our reply to the RFE. Today, I called USCIS about my AP since its been 4 months since we filed and we are beyond normal processing time. I called around 7:00 PM. and the lady sent in a service request. But just now, about an hour and a half after, voila, I got a text saying my AP HAS BEEN APPROVED. hahahah. are they even working at this time? Im very thankful, but I still think its so funny.

From everyone's experience, would it be possible for then EAD to arrive before August 2nd, 2010? This is when my wife's job offer expires and all we are waiting for is the EAD.

Timeline:

- May 24, 2010: AOS / I-765 package received (we applied from her K-1 visa)

- June 25th, 2010: Online notice that I-485 was transferred to the California Service Center from the NBC

- June 28th, 2010: Biometrics done in Baltimore, MD local office (for both I-485 & I-765)

- June 28th, 2010: I-485 and I-765 touched via "Last Updated" status online (presumably due to Biometrics completed?)

An aside, can she start working once we get approval or only when the EAD is in hand? Not clear if a approval notice or card product document is sufficient to being working.

It would be horrible to lose this wonderful job opportunity..

It might make it by that time. I filed for EAD Feb 3 and received it in April, thats fast considering I had an RFE which took 20 days. so if you take out the 20 days, it was approved in as little as 30 days. and she needs the actual EAD before she can really work. they would want to see her documentation before anybody will hire her. but the EAD arrives quick. Mine got approve on march 25 and I received it on April 4. good luck. im pretty positive she 'll get it by Aug 2nd

Request for Initial Evidence of my Form I -485 , but not mentioning about my Form I -765, What a Frustrated night to recieved a kind of Alert like that, Now i have to wait again to recieved that letter in a Mail , my days will be keep thinking again < What would be the Initial Evidence about Form I - 485??????/ well just like to express my self , hope if should be not a big Problem, Is there any one experienced ? to what i am facing right now? but still my faith stand firm. thank you guys in reading this.

You should wait till you get the letter. who knows it could be something as simple as a signature that you forgot to make or additional papers. I got an RFE too right after my biometrics. it is frustrating but they give you ample time to reply. I had 87 days and I replied to it 2 weeks before my deadline and a day after, they sent me an email saying they have resumed processing of my case.

I am a K1 visa holder and I have a quick question about filling I-864 by my future wife.

Between marriage and due date for filling AOS I will have only around 15 days.

If she takes over my last name should she file I-864 and entire AOS application based on this name? Or maybe she still can use her maiden name since she won't have any ID with her new last name?

She is supposed to used her new name (married name) in her application. That's what I used. This name will appear in all her IDs issued by USCIS such as greencard and EAD.

Congratulations to everyone who's seen some action. I have been reading everyday and seeing everyone's progress eventhough I havent posted anything in a while. I've been busy working. We had an RFE on Mar 24 and just let our time pass and only found time to submit everything yesterday. Hopefully everything turns out okey for us. Congrats again to everyone!

Yes that does sound a very good idea and I also got a RFE saying that they needed more information since I didn't have an AOS pending yet. But undortunately I already sent thosse additional information a week ago and I guess that was a second mistake. Probably they gave me an other chance to submit my AOS so I would get this EAD for only a couple days.

But I wasn't thinking and I wanted to start working as soon as I can and I wanted to be very quick sending those documents in. I should've waited then.

But I still hope that even this EAD will be issued for me now and I havw to apply for an other one with AOS application it won't take that long since they already accepted the same application once so hopefully it will benefit me a little bit in the future.

Unfortunately, they don't give you a second chance when replying to RFEs. You only get one chance. Once the deadline expires, they decide your application based on the documents you've submitted. they wont ask for more. I guess you can just let the EAD pass and then just send in the AOS papers with another EAD application
