  1. Hi everyone,

What could be used as 'another form of valid ID" as mentioned in #4 below? Appreciate your assistance? Currently, my fiancee has only her passport.

    Regards,

    1.

The SS-5 form you downloaded and filled out (they have some at the office if you forget).

    2.

your Passport (with the K-1 Visa in it)

    3.

    your valid I-94

    4.

another form of valid ID (as defined in the SS-5 instructions)

    5.

You should also bring the document RM 00203.500 that you printed out

  2. My wife finally got an interview date at Islamabad Embassy in October. I searched through the forum and found that some people were taking copies of forms submitted to USCIS and NVC, such as DS-230. Is this really necessary? I'm thinking of having my wife take only the most essential items, such as: photos, telephone call records, financial support, passport sized photos, copy of marriage certificate, and copy of birth certificate. Anyone who has been to Islamabad Embassy for an interview please share your experience and what you did to prepare for it and what items you took to the interview. One last question, how easy is it to change interview date?

I am also from Afghanistan, and my fiancee had her interview in Islamabad. Please have all the copies even though she may not need them. Also, have some pictures from the ceremony. The consuls have more respects for the Afghan women since all the men go for AP for sure. So, they will get easy interviews including the same day visa. I hope the same thing happen to you too.

    Good luck!!

  3. It seems like you had similar issue. Looking at your timeline it took USCIS one month to send your petition to NVC. Please share your experience with us. Who did you contact and how long did it take NVC to get back to you? NVC responded to me via email a week ago that they will contact USCIS on my behave.

i went to my congresswoman but the reply i got from NVC was faster than the congresswoman's office. so, it will take two to three weeks to get a response. good luck.

  4. Already did, last week and got a reply that they will contact USCIS on my behave.

However, USCIS already told me they don't have my file and to reconstruct my petition.

yasar I already called and emailed everyone (USCIS, NVC, Deputy director of USCIS, Congressman, 2 Senators) who can be contacted regarding my case.

NVC will take care of you. You have to wait a while since it takes time for NVC to contact USCIS on your behalf. Good luck!

  5. Hi All,

My fiancee has lost the CD (I think the CD had medical exam record, X-Ray...) that she got from the doctor's office. Would Immigration Officer will ask for the CD at the POE, or that is not needed. Appreciate any advice.

    thanks,

  6. it's been almost 2 months after passing the interview, and my brother hasn't received the oath letter yet.??? what should he do? any suggestions as to what should b done???

Tell him to do an infopass. they should be able to answer his questions. also, the paper they gave him after the interview should have some information too. what does the paper say? does it say he should hear something within sixty days?

  7. Yea, but I mean whenever they want to contact her for an interview, how will that be done?

The reason I am asking this is because my friend who is also bringing his fiancee here just went thru the process, he got his visa, but he said he wouldve gotten it sooner if it wasnt for the fact that the embassy sent his fiancee's interview letter or something like that to the wrong address twice, and his fiancee lives in the neighboring country to my fiancee's. So I just want to prevent something like that happening to me

Don't worry. I am also from Afghanistan. When the paperwork gets to Islamabad, just email 'PakIVQuery@state.gov'and they will send everything to you and your fiancee/wife electronically.

    Good luck!

  8. A faxed reply might cause more confusion then resolve the issue or the fax might not even catch up to the case file. This is not considered a material misrepresentation.

The best approach is to have your fiance(e) hand carry the corrected G-325A unsigned, Then offer it to the COnsular Officer only if this very minor issue (mistake) arises in the conversation. He/she can then sign the G-325A in front of the CO replacing the current one. This will be the least of their concerns considering the country of the fiance(e).

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, it seems to be minor. I will do as advised. Actually, my fiancee and I are from Afghanistan, but immigrant and K-1 visas are still processed through the U.S. embassy in Islamabad Pakistan. They may move the immigration visa unit to Afghanistan sometime in the future.

  9. I wouldn't worry about it, I made mistakes on the G-235a and corrected it on the DS-230. If asked about it at the interview, simply answer honestly that it was a mistake and the information on the DS-230 is correct

    Good luck

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply. I was really worried. So, would it make any difference if I fax a corrected one anyways? I just want to clear the issue in advance.

    Thanks again,

    Regards,

  10. Hello there,

I just noticed that I have made a big mistake in filling out both forms (G325A and DS-230). There is information mismatch (places and dates where my fiancee lived and went to school). Now, the case is already in consulate and the interview date is coming. Please let me know how I can fix this? Can I send an updated G-325A to the consulate?

    Appreciate any help/input.

    Regards,

I just double checked. Actually, only one date is wrong (somehow copied and pasted from somewhere maybe). Can I fax a corrected copy to the embassy?

    Regards,

I can do the translation myself for her birth certificate any ideas if that would be good enough for the NVC?

I write down the translation of her birth certificate on piece of paper with the attached note discussed above and do you think that would be sufficient?

    Thanks

I am not sure about NVC, but my friend was dealing with the U.S. embassy in Pakistan. He had K-3. As the other member stated, i am sure you should be fine. good luck!
