  1. Cheque details from USCIS: http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD This site USED to say "USCIS" (spelt out) was fine because I remember it distinctly. It's obviously now been revised.

Regardless, always follow the FORM instructions. Not what someone else has said, or mentioned in passing, or something you think you saw a month ago. Save links by all means but remember to double check them (and that you're using the updated version of the form) at the time of FILING, not the time of filling out the forms (I had to redo a few forms before I sent my AOS package because i got a bit ahead of myself and the forms were updated).

I would correct who the cheque was made out to. Check that you've written the amount correctly (as per my link above) and you should be fine. Good luck.

I have just noticed increasing rejections regarding the AOS fee, please see page one after reading this

Same thing happened to me... I first sent a check for $1010 with my application (AOS & EAD) and they rejected it saying that the fee was wrong. Then I sent my application in for the 2nd time with 4 checks for $ 930, $80, $355, $340. I know that I didnt have to send in the extra money, but I am just so tired of USCIS being so ineffective and idiotic. Btw, they cashed all 4 checks.

This is just plain weird, it seems a new directive has been issued, the frequency of rejections have increased.

  2. This is correct. If the check was made out to "USCIS" then THAT is why it was returned. We've seen it happen many times here. The instructions are quite clear.

Side note: I'm a programmer with 25 years experience, much of it dealing with digital graphics. Redacting information from a linear bitmap image that's been compressed using a "lossy" compression algorithm will leave some artifacts of the editing, and it may leave artifacts that could be used to recompose the redacted information. Look closely at a heavily compressed JPEG image and you'll see some 'ghosting'.

Anyway, if you have the original document then you can easily do an uncompressed scan, edit it, and then compress it for upload. There will be no evidence of the redacted information.

    Hiya jim,

I did write out the USCIS in full on the cheque, when it came back it had dept of homeland security citizen and immigration services stamped on it, i think the pdf for the instructions have been revised

i have an older version that says payments should be made to dept of homeland security or uscis(spelt out) , anyway i have written out 2 new cheques as instructed by the I-797C.

Thanks for information for the benefit of the redaction apologists, i guess those who redact till Sunday and who didn't miss classes have much to learn. we have a saying where i come from '' what a young man/inexperienced person see's from the top of tree an elder/experienced person will see sitting on a stool at ground level''

Some people just don't know how to ask questions or give advice.

    Regards

    Blublod

  3. If you were a good programmer you would know how to get rid of any hints. If you can't edit the files to that extent maybe you missed a couple of classes.

You so don't know what you are talking about, if you did you would not have made that comment. lol.

redacting a document is easy, i am not putting my information on vj. period!!! just sharing my experience. if some want to start a pissing contest let them.

Make of it what you want.

  4. Is there a fee for the form I-864? Or do I just send it off as a bundle in my AOS packet along with my I-485, I-765 and I-693?

I am Canadian, but recently married here in the States so the I-864 will be reviewed domestically. I've heard that there is a new $88 fee for domestically reviewed I-864.

So far I have the following ready to send off:

AOS PACKET with a fee of $1010 includes I-485, I-765, I-693 (I-864 sent off as part of packet, or separately with a separate fee?) Anyone out there PLEASE HELP ME TO CLARIFY!!

I-130 is ready to go separately with a fee of $355

THANKS!!!! I'm so overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that needs to be filled out and packaged up... I've been at it for over a month now!

One more thing, if you have doubts about the correct fee with a check, buy a money order. goodluck

Include the I-864 in the packet, i don't know about the $88 though, just review the docs and dates and make a check list. you will be fine.

  6. What's the security issue? Don't you know how to redact a scan of sensitive information? It's really easy and can be done with the most basic of image editing software.

Bob i am a software engineer, all the redacting in the world won't save you. if you have any data mining skills or programming skills you would understand.

I am just letting others know or warning them, i have looked over my docs and i see nothing wrong.

Thanks for the advice all the same

  7. I made the check out to the USCIS (spelt out) and the fee was correct $1010, the date correct (mm/dd/yyyy) i got an I-797C specifically asking me to write 2 checks for $930 & $80.

my 90 days were up on the 06/28/10 and the said package was sent on the 06/24/10, i dont get it but i recall seeing someone complain about his check returned

    2 weeks ago on VJ.

Whether it's a new policy or someone's pedantry at homeland security? its beyond me?! but i have sent two checks this time and hope my eye colour is to their liking.

I would have gladly attached the I-797C and check for all to see and judge for themselves if not for the sticky issue of security and common sense.

  8. Just a word of warning to all AOS intender's, please make out the fee amounts separately, my AOS package was returned because i made a cheque (check) for $1010 and it was returned

i have made 2 new cheques, one for $930 and $80 and returned my package.

All documents seem to have been inspected though strangely enough, so please make two cheques or buy a money order and let them do with it as they please.

  9. unnecessary[/b] RFE for this. So its all up to you, to do or not to do

Thanks ATLR and Vivi6, and everyone else. okay one more question(vivi6) when you filled out AP did you give a reason on a separate sheet or did you just send it in.

why this issue really annoys me is the finance issue, i don't have a job yet and literally down to my last buck.

No matter how much you save its just never enough.

  10. I have my check up done and DS-3025 all filled up nicely by the appointed surgeon in Singapore in November 2009 so it is still within the valid 1 year time frame. But to reduce any potential RFE, when I filed for my AOS, I still went on to file the I-693. Because in the USCIS website it's clearly state that 'Even if a new medical examination is not required, you still must show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS-3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original, overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case you are required to submit Part 1, Information about you, Part 2, the vaccination chart and Part 5, Civil Surgeon's certification, of Form I-693.'

There are people who have their medical record lost during their AOS process and USCIS does not bother to take full responsibility for it. So to save the stress of a RFE, potential missing of your medical records, IMHO, just get on with the I-693. Get a appointed civil surgeon at your area and have him/her to just transcribe your DS-3025 record into I-693. You may need to spend a little more time finding a HONEST surgeon who doesn't rip you off. There are surgeons who still demand that you do a full medical examination when you don't even need it.

Thanks a million , i did call up a civil surgeon an they charge $75 to transcribe your records, made an appointment for the 22nd. my I-94 expires on the 06/28/2010.

one more thing in your I-765 did you request a new EAD or renewal? when i called to ask USCIS because of the obvious expiration of the I-94 soon the lady tells me she

cant tell cos of reliability, how the dickens is that helpful or answer the question?unsure.gif

  11. The DS-2053 (medical) and DS-3025 (vaccinations) are accepted by the USCIS IF they were included in the POE packet and for the DS-2053 less than one year old and for the Ds-3025 is complete.

I have my DS-3025 original.does this mean its not in the POE packet or a photocopy is in the packet. cos if a copy was made then i guess i can go ahead and send the AOS application

BTW my DS-3025 is complete as in i have no pending shots to take, it says i may be eligible for a blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as indicated above).

As indicated above showing all checked off vaccination(s) taken.

Will add a copy of the DS-3025 just in case as i send in AOS

    Thanks

  12. Okay people, its the most asked AOS question.

Whats the situation on this civil surgeon issue, i have my DS-3025 worksheet and according to what i have seen and dreamt no one has a definite answer to this problem

some say you dont have to send in an I-693 if you did the medical abroad - i did and have all my vaccinations. All you need is to send the I-485 in and the paper work will be in the

sacred scrolls(Brown do not open envelope) at the POE.

I called USCIS and the lady there says the DS-3025 is a US dept of state document, and the I-693 a USCIS doc. Now i believe the USCIS and US dept of State are in the same USA

Unless they transcribe it to aramic when you get here i really am at a loss.

My take in all this is , sending the AOS without an I-693 is a gamble. If am gonna pay more money to have it put in another document/language then it does not matter if its done after

an RFE or not, i still pay the surgeon right?

In the present situation with immigration causing an uproar a la Arizona and another fee hike in the works i rather have my application at USCIS before something unthinkable happens.

Ewok i know you have a detailed answers about this but when you call USCIS the situation is very different.

All informed responses are well come.

    I rest my case

  13. Congratulations Blublod!!! :) :) :) :)

I know I was in shock all day yesterday and extremely tired waiting for the courier to arrive. The shock wore off a bit last night, but it still feels weird... Like there's something more we need to do, lol.

    Congrats again! :)

    .

Congrats everyone, and to all waiting just be patient it will come. I just cant find a flight to newyork this week.

  14. I agree!!

Thanks, and good luck to the two of you as well - any news?

I had a 221g as well and wrote an email which was deleted and not read, called up and lady told me it would take 10 -15 working days which in my calculation ended

on the 17/3/10, decided to call DX on the 19/3/10 since their tracking service doesn't tell you anything nor did I fancy calling the eye watering 090 number and to my surprise

the gentleman i spoke to tells me the embassy says my package is ready but not physically with them but would be delivered Mondayblink.gif!!!, i asked for a redelivery to Scotland

and will receive the package on Tuesday at no extra cost.

Try calling DX 1st before calling the embassy, just in case.

    Goodluck everyone

  15. My dear effieb,

Girlfriend Im so sorry this is happening to you and your fiancee. I know EXACTLY how you feel. Im sure its been awhile since we last so our SO but girl just know that you and your husband will be together soon. This visa process is so frustrating and depressing. Im praying for the best for you girl. Take care

    Nwanyioma

Nwanyioma kedu, effieb everything should be okay don't worry. I did my interview in London 29/1/10 got a 221g to redo my Nigerian police report which i sent back on the 22/2/10

called on 4/3/10 and told it was being processed and would take minimum 15 working days which ended 17/3/10.

Called up courier first before calling embassy 19/3/10 only for the courier to tell me my package will be delivered 23/3/10.

Don't know if it was denied or not yet?

Its frustrating and makes you want to pull your hair out.

But in the end it should come out okay. hang in there

  16. I had my K1 interview on the 29th of Jan. 2010 in London, got a 221g cos my fingerprinting wasn't done in a UK police station (didn't know you had to have it done there from July 09), sorted it out and mailed back to the embassy on the 22 called up 5 working days after to check on it and was told it would take 10-15 working days ending on the 17th of march.

The lady i talked to when i called the eye watering 090 number said it was going through processing (AP???) decided to wait till the 19th before calling again.

Called the secure couriers before trying the dreaded 090 and guess what my package is coming on Tuesday 23/03/2010.

Point is AP is rather vague could take a week or take 3 months.

A whole lot of permutations regarding what triggers it but honestly only the embassy can elucidate.

While i tear my hair out, can anyone please tell me if your application is denied will you get a call, email or letter.

    Am in angst.

    Its the waiting that kills.
