  1. Love you hun =).

But, as my better half said, I live about 45 minutes to an hour away in Melbourne, FL. It's a very nice town. I would highly recommend getting a job down here first, especially since the space shuttle layoffs work can be hard to find depending upon your career. I would also highly recommend not staying in Orlando itself but in one of the suburbs. Crime is high in Orlando or at least seems high from the news channels.

I applied for literally a hundred jobs down here in the Orlando region and it wasn't until I changed my address to my parents (they live in Cocoa, FL about 30 mins to the east of Orlando) that I got any interviews.

I just got back from my lunch break watching a pack of 10-12 dolphins in the Indian River; nothing beats that =). Let me know if you have any questions, be happy to help.

First of all, Welcome back from your trip, hope you had lots of fun!

I'm about to move to Melbourne, Florida, about 45 mins away from Orlando, my fiancé loves it, it is very hot and humid and rains a lot though, more humid than Alexandria, Egypt.

And I know that the job hunt there is really hard, it took my fiancé month and month to find a job when he was moving down from Alabama, he had to settle for a lower paying job in Florida, but the cost of living and housing prices went down so that's a good thing.

However, everyone who has been in FL loved it and is charmed by the place.

Do what the other members said, look for jobs online and start applying, you might want to write in your application that you live in Florida otherwise they could filter your application (happened with my fiancé)

I'll ask him to send you and explain to you as he recently moved to FL 4 months ago.

    Best of luck!

  2. You're more than welcome! :)

Did you or Joe call DOS to check your interview review? They usually tell you when the visa is coming exactly and if there's AP or AR. In case you don't have the number, here it is 2026631225

    (F)

I called but was told they didn't have our case yet (???) and redirected me to the NVC. After 30 minutes on hold with them, they told me to contact DOS. So, I'm guessing maybe wait a week or so and hopefully DOS will be able to tell me the status. :Fingers crossed:

Thanks again Aya & John for all the help!

  3. Thanks for quick reply! I was thinking of a cosponsor already just incase they don't honor my financial standing during her interview there (though when i calculate of what i make its passes the 125 percentile poverty level) thanks for the advice!

No problem, glad I could help. The approach I took and seems to be working so far is don't let them have any reason to deny you. Best of luck and a speedy journey!

  4. Hey guys my fiancé and I just received our NOA2 and recently our case was forwarded to MNL consulate, so I started the document that im going to send my fiance according to vj guidelines. My question regarding I134 is that it doesn't state that I don't have to provide an income tax return just a letter from employer and bank statements from bank officer, but the consulate in Manila is asking for one. The thing is that I don't have a recent income tax return yet I've only started working six months ago since I was in school for 5 years and my last income tax file was 5 years ago. Please advise, thank you!

My fiancée submitted the I-134 I sent her and got an interview date a week later. What I included was the letter from my employer and bank and 3 years of tax transcripts from the IRS. I also included copies of my last 3 years of tax returns and 6 months of pay stubs.

My advice would be to get a co-sponsor. When you two get married and file Adjustment of Status (AOS) you will need those tax returns or tax transcripts.

Good luck!!! I hear the Philippines can be a tough place to get visas.

  5. I wanted to share my experince just in case not everyone reads it on the reviews :)

K1 visa - US consulate in Cairo, Egypt.

    The interview 7-7-10

    ....

Awesome review hun! God is so very very good! I was at my best friends house praying for you all night. I don't even know what my company initials stand for and I work there :P hehe.

    Love you bunches!!!

  6. I'm about to send of my k-1 then I find out I need 4 or 8 of the G-325A forms. How many am I supposed to send to USCIS? I thought just one from me and one from fiance, and of course make copies of my entire packet. Then I hear i must fill out 4 of them and he must fill out 4 of them and I send them off. Are they the exact same document filled out four times from each of us? Do we both need to sign each others G-325A? Please help :(

Well I personally just sent one G-325A for me and one for my fiancée. Got approved (no RFE's) and waiting for her interview on July 7th. You need to sign your own G-325A.

Just be sure to make copies as you said. I made about 4 copies and ended up having to make some more when I sent my fiancée two copies of the I-129f packet just to be safe.

    Good luck and speedy journey!

  7. Here we go! We are very excited. I checked, double checked, triple checked, and then checked a few more times! Everything is there! We are ready! I sent it overnight. They will receive it tomorrow. Wish us luck!

P.S. I am self employed, and I would like to prepare for the "proof of income" information I will need to provide. Does anyone know when this will be needed, and what will be needed? Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to stop by and say Good luck and a speedy journey!! It can be stressful at times, but very worth it for that special someone.

  8. Sweet story!!! And I remember Montazah Garden VERY well... I beat Adam in bowling both times we went there! We had a lovely time walking thru the whole garden and chatting away miles ahead of his sister and best friend. Montazah is such a lovely and beautiful place!!!! Brings back memories! ... also it was in Montazah where I accidentally lost Adams ID and military cert in the sand after we had went swimming! ... and it was found and turned in and we had no idea where on earth it was at.... a day before our wedding... went to Montazah and the first officer we saw at the gate went inside the office , then a 2nd office passed us by and Adam told him about it and he went in and got Adams military paper out the office then the first officer came out with his ID card! Amazing!

Very nice story! Yes, I loved Montazah as well. The water was so clear and calm. Glad you and your husband were able to get his ID back =).

Trillium, at least from my personal experience he was probably so nervous because he wanted it to be perfect and something you would remember forever. I was fairly sure my fiancée would say yes but I was still a nervous wreck. When you love someone so much you want to spend the rest of your life with, you try everything in your power to make the proposal perfect. As perfect as the woman you are proposing to and as amazing as the woman. At least that's how I felt, but before I met my fiancée I was a hopeless romantic...now I'm just a romantic fiancé =).

  9. Beautiful stories everyone! :luv:

Junita, how did Mr. Greenparot propose to you? :P

    Aya

Well, it's a long story...so please bear with me.

We met online on Facebook and fell madly in love with each other. On her Facebook page she listed that she loved to draw. Well I took a year worth of Art classes in high school and one of my still life charcoal drawings made it into the local art show. So, I prayed about it and I felt God was telling me she would love it if I did a drawing for her. My parents and grandma were constantly bugging me to draw more things but it took the love of a beautiful and amazing woman for me to get off my bum and do it. =)

So, I spent 3 months practicing graphite drawings. I picked out a picture from my first trip to Egypt of her in front of a very nice bridge in Alexandria (Stanley Bridge). And for 1 month non-stop I worked on drawing that picture. I must have put in at least 100 hours into it. But of course I couldn't work on it while talking to her on MSN and on video camera, so I had to work on it during my breaks at work and some before bed. When finished, I had it custom framed and I entitled it "My Habibi".

    * The key part of the drawing was i drew a ring on her ring finger. *

I also wrote 2 poems for her and printed them up. When I came back to Egypt for the second time, we sat on a bench near the same place we had our first date at in a park called Montazah. I read the 2 poems and brought out the drawing. Well, my parents also came with us and were supposed to make themselves scarce but ended up walking up to us as I was pulling out the drawing. Luckily she didn't see it. So my parents left and then I continued. She saw the drawing and I waited a bit for her to ask about the ring on her finger. She didn't so I asked her, "did you notice something on your finger?". She said "Yes". And that's when I brought out the rings and got on one knee and proposed to the woman of my dreams. Thank God she said yes =). She was so happy and excited =).

Sorry for the long story, but I love telling it; it lets me re-live that magical day when we are so far apart during this long visa process. Here's a picture of the rings:

  10. I actually went to Wal-mart and just bought those cheap clip report binders. This was before I found out they discarded them upon receiving. But, I still would have bought them. It helped me to stay organized and verify I had everything I needed (no RFE's). I even re-verified I had everything while waiting at the post office line a few times.

So, do whatever makes you feel comfortable and less stressed...if thats putting all of the papers in one huge stack, then go for it! =) In the end USCIS doesn't care...

  11. Egypt recently banned International calls through mobile internet connections such as Skype or software like Majicjack. The law requires international calls to pass through state controlled fixed lines and is a monopoly on the communications market there.

Skype questions Egypt ban on mobile Internet calls

Thanks for the explanation. True, Customs has the authority to inspect any package but this is the first one that I know of that has been inspected. I assume they all go under the x-ray machines like at the airports. So listing it as a USB drive probably still would have failed...argh...

  12. Hey all,

I just wanted to let you all know of a little absurd experience my fiancée and I went through recently. I bought a magicjack and got it all setup for use there in Egypt and then shipped it using USPS. On the custom's form where it asks what's inside, I wrote "Magicjack".

So...two weeks later, my fiancée gets a message requiring her to travel to I'm assuming the post office there in Alexandria. She was told "you can bring magicjacks into the country just not ship them". My family and I are still trying to figure a good reason for this policy...because it just sounds absolutely retarded.

So, they are supposedly shipping it back to me. I can guarantee if I do not receive it back they will have an angry American at their office in the near future...the thing that makes me mad is the office was in a bad neighborhood in Alexandria and they made my fiancée go there. A simple phone call could have solved the whole thing.

So if you ship a magicjack to Egypt, just be cautious. If I had to do it over, I would have just listed "USB drive" on the custom's form. If anyone can shed some light on this policy of no shipping magicjacks please do so, much appreciated.

    Thanks and God bless!

  13. My fiancé is American and I'm Egyptian, he always excites me with our future plans, what we will do, where we'll go, like buying a house, going ice skating, going to Universal Studios and shopping, eating out at a romantic restaurant and travelling in America... this all sounds fun and she will start imaging all of this, America is a beautiful country and there's a million thing you can do, see, and buy!

Let her see the bright side for now.

As my fiancée said, try to tell her how you'll help her feel more at home once she gets here. My fiancée will probably be homesick at times no matter what I do but that makes no difference, it's our job as future husbands to do anything in our power to make the transition easier for our future wives. I plan on taking her out on many dates (movies, restaurants, parks & picnics) and coming home for lunch on work-days. Also, Magicjack or Skype could be useful for allowing her to keep in contact with her family if they have reliable internet.

So my advice would be to focus on all the fun things you'll get to do with each other.

  14. It may be harder (at the interview) for his fiance to get her visa if she discloses there are no imminent plans to marry.

Then technically she is not his fiancee and is not eligible for the K-1 visa...unless I'm missing something here on the definition of a fiancee. Not to be rude, but its the people who fraud the system that makes it that much harder on those of us who play by the rules not to mention takes time away from other couples who are serious.

As far as the culture differences, they will be there no matter if she gets to visit America or not. You could try to take videos or somehow capture how life is here in America. I have done a few for my fiancee as she has never been to America. I've even taken a few pictures of Wal-mart, haha.

  15. I think most folks here will agree that you should probably simply invest more time into the relationship, let it evolve, and when she is ready for a an actual commitment only then seek a K-1 visa. You'll save yourself a great deal of heartache that way. Like I said, it can be a taxing process even when two people want nothing more than to be together. So your situation would immediately open you up to additional friction.

Couldn't be said better, the K1 process can be very tedious, long, difficult, and expensive depending upon your financial situation. But, that being said being apart from the person you love is torture...I'd still wait until she said yes though. You will have to sign a document saying you will support her so keep that in mind too.

  16. Thanks everyone. This visa process is very confusing, but your answers are helping me prepare for what we need to do.

    Many thanks,

    Ash and Paddy

Just wanted to say good luck in your visa process, VJ is definitely the site to go for questions and answers. Helped us tremendously. Be prepared for some headaches in the process and the more organized you are the easier it will be. Best Wishes!

  17. It sounds like your fiancee's name produced a "hit" or multiple "hits" on the databases they search when performing background checks. At this point, instead of waiting another 6 months I would give your Congressman or Congresswoman a call and have him/her see what's up. I'm not sure that will help any but at this point it couldn't hurt. Sorry to hear about the delay, hope it goes fast from here on out.
