  1. I would call the USCIS. # is on their website

Thanks very much for the suggestion, I just tried calling USCIS (three times just to be safe!). They can't help with older versions of the forms.

The first person I spoke with said the place of filing would be the service center that processed the petition.

Any suggestions on how to find out which service center processed petitions for Colorado back in 2003? CSC / TSC?

I've tried looking through the timelines but they don't have much info from back in 2003.

  2. I'm helping a friend fill in his I-129F.

Part A, question 11 asks if you have ever filed for this or any other alien fiance(e) or husband and wife before. The answer for him is YES, in 2003 he filed an I-129F for a previous fiance (now his ex-wife).

Since his answer is yes, he needs to provide the place and date of the previous filing. Unfortunately he kept no records and his memory is shaky, all he can tell me is that it was back in 2003 when he was living in Denver, Colorado.

Is it reasonable to put Denver, Colorado down as the place of filing? Or should the place of filing be the address that he sent the I-129F to?

If the latter, the address he sent the I-129F to must be in the I-129F instructions from 2003... any chance anyone knows where I could get a copy?

  3. We had our interview last week. Our interviewer was very unfriendly to the point of being rude, which made for quite an unpleasant experience.

I had the same interviewer a few years ago when I applied for US citizenship and she was just as rude then... it seems like she hates her job, or maybe just all the people she interviews.

She asked questions about how we met, how many times I had visited my wife before filing the fiance petition, why I filed the petition, where we got married, where we went for our honeymoon etc. She asked for joint financial documents so we gave her joint bank account statements, utility bills in both our names, insurance showing my wife as beneficiary, etc. She wasn't interested in letters addressed to the two of us, or other documents that showed my wife's married name. She asked if we had any photos of the wedding, so we gave her around 40 photos of the wedding and honeymoon.

After about 20 minutes she just said "I'll need to look through this (the application), if I need anything else you'll hear from me. The exit is behind you".

Its been a week now. The interviewer's attitude aside, everything seemed to go smoothly so I have no idea what she/they are waiting for. Hopefully the limbo will not go on for too much longer.

It feels good to vent... thanks for reading :)

  4. I just got my NOA 2. It seems CSC are pretty fast at processing responses to RFEs - it only took 8 days from the day I sent it to getting the approval email, and that includes a public holiday!

In case anyone is curious, the RFE was asking for more evidence that we had met in person in the last two years. It was a bit of a surprise as I'd included lots of evidence in the initial petition - passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipts, ferry tickets, photos, etc. In the response I resubmitted all that plus more receipts, credit card statements, flight itineraries, letters from people who had seen us together, more photos, etc. It came to an extra 170 pages... thankfully the adjudicator saw sense in the end :)

  5. Aww, I sent my I-129F package the same day as you, and my check still hasn't been cashed... But I see you are closer to the CSC then I am, so your package probably got there a little faster. (Well I'm guessing you probably live in or close to San Jose if your Local Service Center is San Jose. I used to live in San Jose CA! I like it there) Well I'm hoping my check will be cashed in a few days.

Yep I'm living in Mountain View, posted the I-129F in Alviso since that's close to my work.

All things being equal, they should be cashing your check very soon. And then the real waiting begins :)

  6. Write Vancouver where asked.

Thanks very much for your reply.

    Are you sure?

I'm just paranoid about what might happen if it turns out Vancouver won't process the visa - if it could cause any big delays, or my worst nightmare is that she goes to Vancouver for her interview then during the interview they realize she isn't a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and they reject her.

  7. I'm trying to work out if my fiance's K-1 visa can get processed at the Consulate in Vancouver, or if it has to be Montreal. Our preference is Vancouver if possible, since it would make it easier for me to attend the interview with her plus of course Vancouver is likely to be faster than Montreal.

    She is living in Manitoba.

She is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. She is in Canada on a working visa, but her job is considered a permanent position and she will be authorized to remain in Canada for more than enough time to complete her K-1 visa processing.

The wiki says that Manitoba goes to Vancouver: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada

The Vancouver consulate says that Manitoba goes to Vancouver but only if the fiance is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident: http://vancouver.usconsulate.gov/content/c...document=fiance

Other websites say that if the fiance is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident then Vancouver will consider them on a case-by-case basis: http://www.visapro.com/Immigration-Articles/?a=463&z=36

Can anyone clarify what the reality is? Have any non-citizens/non-permanent residents had their K-1 processed in Vancouver recently?
