I am an American citizen engaged to a wonderful man from Brazil. We met on September 2, 2008 in Granada, Spain. I was there going to school (studying to be a Spanish teacher) and he was there living and working. We were together in Spain until June 9th, 2009. I had to return to the United States to work and continue courses at my regular university. Shortly there after, he moved back to Brazil. In December of 2009, I visited him in Brazil for one month and he asked me to marry him! I said yes and we immediately began getting the paperwork ready for the K-1 Visa. We chose to do it without a lawyer, seeing as we are young and I'm a college student with no money! With all the help we found on this site, I knew we could do it without one! It took us awhile to get everything together, but I finally sent in the papers today (3-2-2010). I'm excited that the process has officially started and I'm hoping and praying it goes by quickly and smoothly.
Congrats on your interview date! That is wonderful! We still are waiting on packet 3 and have heard from the embassy that they are booked with interviews (1 per week) until August!!!
