  1. Passport delievered! I had to check the embassy courier website, but the couriers delivered next day. Was told it would take 7-10 days, only took 6!! I fly tomorrow!

Congrats! We finally received the German police certificate yesterday- THANK GOD! and have translated it. Just need to get it notarized and call the courier to pick it up on Tuesday. Hoping to get the Visa and passport back in a few weeks. Fingers crossed!! I will let you know how it works out.

    Thanks!!

  2. Are turn around time from the time courier company got it to the deliver time is 2 days.

So glad things worked out so fast for you. We are still waiting for Germany to send back the police clearance form. God I hope we get it this week. I am so frustrated with this whole thing. We have a November wedding date and the honeymoon set and paid for. Fingers crossed we get everything really soon. :(

  3. At our interview we were told that our Visa was approved pending receipt of police clearance form from Germany (My fiance was stationed there whole in the Army). My question is, how long is the turn around to receive our Visa and passport once the courier picks up them up? We were told it would be a simple process and should only take 3-5 days once everything was received by the Embassy. I am hoping to get some "real-time" experience from VJ users, as we are trying to arrange for him to move, set a wedding date, and purchase plane tickets, etc.. Thanks!

  4. I interpret it to mean that they are not that restrictive in what they accept. I would expect 3 pieces of paper. The original German document, the translation, and the statement from the translator which certifies that it is a true translation. The third page when signed under the "sworn" statement that the translation is true must be notarized.

The absolute worst case is that at the interview the person says it's not good enough. Then the beneficiary will be standing right in front of a live person and can ask specifically what is required and what is deficient, and correct that. Just a few days delay. I know it sounds bad, but it is totally manageable. Not worth panicking, promise!

Sorry if I sounded needy, honest. The thing is we had our interview last Wednesday and was told we needed this document to get the approval. We asked what was required and they gave us a print out of the same information that we all have googled. They really gave no explination of things. I worry about sending in the wrong thing because I am tired of the "one step forward two steps back" dance we get from the Embassy. I just want to get this right. Thanks so much for all your help. I think we are going to do some calling to companies in Manchester that do translations. I was hoping someone from the UK forum had some experience in getting docs translated. I am just ready for this to be over and start my life with my love. --- Thanks again, Heather

  5. Interview was last Wednesday. German police certificate was needed since Daz was stationed in Germany while in the Army. Embassy said everything else was perfect, and Visa would be approved once the police certificate came back with no indiscretions. Hoping to get this cleared up within a few weeks. Gutted that no visa was issued that day, but thankful it's something that can be taken care of. Think happy thoughts - think happy thoughts..

  6. Call the National Visa Center: 202-663-1225 press (1) then (0) - given them your LON number. Ask to verify whether the London Embassy has received your packet 3. If they haven't received it I would suggest that you resend it via certified mail, so they will have to sign for it. Call the NVC at least once a week to keep updated on the status of your case until you get an interview date. That is an extremely long time to not have heard anything. We sent ours in weeks later and have an interview date set. It also could be that they have set the interview, but you haven't received Packet 4 with the interview letter.

You can schedule the medical as long as you have the LON number - it is good for up to one year.

  8. Comparing timelines here...

They received it the same week, yet you got your interview letter a week later and Rob got ours today.

    But...

Our interview dates are 6 days apart.

Kind of makes you want to beat your head into a wall.

Oh, wow.. I didn't even notice that. It seems there is no rhyme or reason to the madness. :bonk:

  9. London received our file on June 12. We were told by the NVS that P3 was mailed on June 25, however my fiancé has never received it. Luckily, we were prepared and went ahead and sent the forms in before we even realized P3 was never going to reach us. Once the NVS confirmed the Embassy's receipt of P3, I waited about a week and called back and was given our interview date.

We did, thankfully, receive P4 in the mail a few days ago.

    Best of luck! :star:

  10. My fiance received the Packet 4 letter in the mail this morning. Listed on it are the names of his childern as traveling applicants. His children do not intend to move to America with him as they are older and in university/army training. We never indicated in any paperwork that they had intent to move. Is this normal procedure or should we contact the Embassy to inform them that they will not be attending the interview? We were both surprised to see their names on the letter.

Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  11. I think you should take the advice of the person above and call the Department of State. We mailed our Packet 3 to London on July 14. Yesterday the Department of State confirmed that London had received it and are were logged as eliglible for an interview. Most timelines I have viewed that had interviews scheduled already received their Packet 4 in the mail within 2 weeks of sending in Packet 3. I am hoping our interview date will be set next week. Best of luck!

  12. I was thinking too about the American celebs who marry someone from other countries. For example, Katy Perry is engaged to Russ Brand, who is English. Are they having to go through the K-1 or CR1 process? Why would the be exempt? If they plan to live in the US then they should have to go through the process like everyone else. Just sayin'.
