  2. Hi

I received an email "Testing and Interview

Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from December 7, 2011, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address."

Can anyone please let me know as to how many days it took them to receive the actual notice of the interview after this email was received ?

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I'm confused, is this status same as, in line for interview or the interview is already scheduled........ Any thoughts, I did my Bio Oct 20th

No this email means you have already been scheduled for an interview and you will receive the interview letter withing 14 days .. good luck

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

  5. Whats going on with us in the northeast!!!??? Seems like we have fallen into the USCIS slowest and laziest hands. I guess there will be plenty of service requests placed pretty soon. Its really frustrating, and with the holidays coming up next month and in december, i predict most of us will be done by late january if not february.

they have hibernated , winter is round the corner

  6. I agree with you...I'm not in a big hurry to have my interview until after my 3yr green card date. I'd much rather have interview and oath the same day, than to have to wait. That's why I didn't try for early finger prints...doesn't seem to make any sense to rush the whole thing when citizenship can't happen any earlier than that 3 year date.

I am just tired and want to get over with this immigration thing and move on.. I am just fed up and tired...

  7. Thank you for that info. That was very enlighting. I guessed right we are of the same line of work. For a little while there when I was reading your last 2 sentences explaining how those 2 numbers tie up - I thought I was reading the way I would explain how some parts of the system works to somebody.

Anyway, what I learned from that link is that... (at the bottom part) mentions that we can only use the APP ID when querying the status in the automated system. But when we are using the phone to query the status, we can also use the NBC$ apart from the NBC*.

I am just trying to be optimistic,i can be wrong , i read on several forums that the $ to * replacement works..you may be right , it can be just another receipt number.. at this point i am just fed up with the immigration process...

  8. The NBC* number that I am using coincided with the NBC* number that is in the Application Number of the very first letter and fingerprinting letter we got from USCIS. They are showing us the correct status all the time when we use those NBC* number to check our status. We do have the NBC$ at the bottom but I don't think that has any importance. When we did our fingerprinting, I specifically took note of the NBC* to make sure the person who was doing our fingerprinting did not make any mistake. The person told me the system automatically puts our NBC* as our reference number so there would be no manual input therefore will always be correct.

NBC$ does have a significance , it is actually the Unique pay id which is tied to the application num , the unique pay id tracks the fee paid for the case.. uscis uses claims 4 mainframe system for n400 applications which uses these two numbers to track cases

  9. Hi,

    Yes, it's works.yes.gif

I check my status at this website https://egov.uscis.gov

Which website did you use ?

    I used the same website

but what was astonishing was that I got completely different results using the numbers

when I used the application number starting with NBC* i get " finger print notice sent "

when I used the NBC$ number at the bottom of the receipt and replaced the $ with a * , i get "placed in line for interview "
