  1. Hi everyone!

I am an August filer too. We sent off our AOS on August 23rd and I know it was received on the 24th. I saw others posting that it was taking up to 14 days to get the text/email notice of receipt. We still have nothing and we are at 18 days. Anyone else waiting still? Have to wait this long? I have thought about calling USCIS, but I don't think there is anything they can tell me because it won't show in their system at all until it has at least been received.

  2. I JUST RECIEVED E-MAIL FROM THE EMBASSY THE VISA WAS PRINTED TODAY...SHE WILL BE ABLE TO PICK IT UP WEDNESDAY...:dance::dance: So happy I get to bring my baby home. Plus I took a gut shot and purchased tickets on Tuesday with Jet Blue, I couldn't pass up the price. A round trip for me and a one way for her only cost $462. I am so relieved...Hope everyone is having a good day.

YAY! Super happy for you guys! Congratulations!

  3. Ok, I am officially SHOT. I have been trying to track my fiancee's passport and visa delivery on DHL which would be great if I was actually punhing in the right number...Yes, for the last 8 days I have been seaching this number and today I asked my beautiful fiancee to read me the number just incase and low and behold...WOW, what a relief. It is still in Kingston on hold but sooooooo happy atleast I can track it now. I guess it helps when you have the right number...

LOL. Hilarious. Glad to hear you figured it out and can now track obsessively :)

  4. Hey there everyone. I have a question regarding the delivery of the passport and visa to my fiance. Has anyone else ever encountered not being able to pull up any information when you put in the tracking number on the DHL website. I recived an e-mail from the embassy on Monday stating that they were currently processing Kaci's visa. ut shouldn't I still be able to pull up some information with the tracking number we were given? All it says is its an invalid airway bill. Do I have to wait until DHL scans it in once they recieve it from the embassy before I will be able to start tracking it? Thanks

Matt-ours was scanned on the day of the interview and we could track it on DHL. It was still considered under processing at the Embassy, but you could see that it has been scanned. Might want to call DHL to make sure you have the correct number. I know there are a few of us that had issues with DHL/Embassy/Visa delivery so you might want to just verify to make sure.

I hear you on that! My TV turns on every morning at 6am. I'm a soccer fan too- but at 6am? Don't know about all that...

  6. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Based on my experience with our interview, I doubt they will even notice something so minor. If they do, just explain the situation. But honestly, I don't think it is something that will even come up or cause any problems for you guys.

    Right Q 2007 was a heck of a year....

Yea. I was with him! It was terrible. I was sitting there waiting for him to come through the visitors section of immigration for like an hour and finally some officer came over and said he was being detained, sent back to JA in the morning and his visa was cancelled. They took his phone so I couldn't even talk to him until the next day when he reached home. And you know all they gave the man to eat all day while detained was a cheese sandwich! Nice hospitality huh? We thought we were fine if he abided by going home before the 6 month limit each time- guess not. They said he was behaving an an intending immigrant who was just vacation back at home. GRRR. Oh well, all past us now thank God.

I do event planning for a living so I had our whole wedding planned in about 2 weeks! LOL. Its an afternoon wedding in Lincoln Park Zoo overlooking the flamingo pond. Then they have a little reception area that is right there too. We will have about 25-30 people there. Hoping some of his family can get visas approved to come over and enjoy the day with us. Fingers crossed. Open bar, lots of food- his friend is DJing for us and playing the sax for the processional (should be nice). Its a great venue because all of the flowers and decorations are already built in. I am just hoping it is not blazing hot at the end of July. But hey, its Chicago- I will be surprised if we reach over 75 :)

  8. But the EAD is only good up until the expired date on the I-194. That is the down side, so if you have not filed for AOS and have received an new EAD or GC by then, he will have an expired EAD.

Oooohh! Thanks for the heads up on that one. Wasn't aware of that!

ALREADY!! that will work out perfectly.. i mean he will make the $300 back very soon if he finds work quick enough..

    That's definitely the hope!

  9. Sowwy!!

I just remembered that I thought it was a waste of money because it expired so quickly, and then would have to file again...but the good thing is that it is now included in the cost of AOS, so not like you'll have to pay another fee when it expires....

Yup! Exactly. Thank God- as this whole process is about to drive a girl broke! Haha.

  10. I may be wrong but I am sure you can apply for AOS but NOT an EAD. If you can apply before filing for AOS, I would be AMAZED if was BEFORE getting married! Do keep us updated though!!!! Would be nice if you CAN apply before!

Here is what is says on the 765 instructions. So, I think we are good. Got the NOA1 that is was accepted. Guess we will see :)

K-1 Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) of U.S. Citizen or K-2 Dependent--(a)(6). File Form I-765 if you are

filing within 90 days from the date of entry. This EAD cannot be renewed. Any EAD application other than for a replacement must be based on your pending application for adjustment under ©(9).

  11. oh.. i saw you sent off for ead?? i thought you had to wait on the wedding to do that?? maybe not.. i didn't do k1 so mi nuh up to di times..

    congrats!!

I think it is a little different. When you come in on a K-1 you can apply for an EAD right away. A lot of people don't because if you file with your AOS, there is no additional cost for that document. If you file them separately its an additional $340. My fiance wanted to get started working as soon as possible rather than waiting almost 2 months for our wedding and then another 3 months or so for the AOS and EAD approval. If all goes well, he should be able to start working as soon as we get back from our honeymoon!
