  1. VERY Many Thanks to all VJ Members for all the help from start.

My fiance finally got his passport with the long awaited visa. After 3months and 3weeks of administrating processing we finally got it! To all who are waiting best of luck and my prayers from the bottom of my heart. I know how frustrating it can be. We got to be patient.

Again, I have a quick question: My fiance is booking a one way ticket to NY on K1 Visa. Is that okay? I heard that US visas need 2-way ticket, but it doesn't make sense for k1 visa.

    Any suggestions or advice?

Once Again Thank you for all the help

  2. pointed questions for DoS Hotline, when calling back (daily)

    --when were items received?

--when were items put into the casefile?

--when will the items be reviewed?

    --what is current casefile status?

--what were the last 3 prior status changes, and when?

Call daily, note the answers on a paper notebook, compare the answers over a two week period. You'll see some changes in the answers, specifically the last item, over 2 weeks.

    Good Luck !

    Thanks Darnell

What do you mean by "DOS Hotline calling back" Do you mean I have to call the dos hotline? The everytime I called i tried to get a live person.

  3. My fiance had his interview on August 27, 2010 in Chennai. Everything seems to have gone well except for a document missing. They took his finger prints, made him swear and all. Then they kept ALL his originals and gave him back his passport and a blue slip stating that he needed to send them (US consulate of Chennai) via VFS the missing document and his passport. So he did that on August 30th. Now the consulate has his Passport and all original documents with them and we are waiting to hear from them ever since. I have called and emailed both the US Consulate and the DOS asking for the status and they aren't able to give me no info except that it is on administrative processing. I even went to Chennai website looking to find the status of my case on their AP Processing report, but couldn't find his case# . Should I start worrying about it and take action? Or do i wait a little longer?

If action needs to be taken, then what do I do? Any advice please. Thank you all; and whoever is waiting for their loved ones wishing them the best of luck!

  4. Hi Journeyman and welcome to the JOURNEY! CherryXS gave good answers, if I may add to them...

<<a. How do you get such detailed information like File left NVC, File reached consulate etc...>>

I called up the NVC (603-334-0700) to get the info about when they received the file, when a file number was assigned and the day they sent it to the Consulate. In the past we could track packages and we would know when they reached the Consulate, but that is no longer possible.

<<b. How do I know if the Chennai consulate received it ?>>

Please send an email to ChennaiIVU@state.gov and ChennaiIV@state.gov. Ask if they received your file and assigned an interview date. Put your file number (beginning with MDR) in the subject line. In your email also include case number, your name (petitioner), beneficiary name, date of birth, and that you are applying for K1 visa. Chennai answered my email within 24 hours giving our interview date!

<<c. Does Chennai consulate mail the packet-3 or not ? (Since packet-3 is not on their website and Mumbai consulate website has it)>>

Chennai is NOT sending out Packet 3 lately. Maybe they did it in the past but not now. As soon as they received our case from the NVC, they assigned an interview date and sent out Packet 4 to us. (My understanding is that Packet 3 & 4 are nearly identical. Packet 3 gives instructions to mail back a couple of applications and a checklist; Packet 4 gives an interview date and detailed instructions of how to get the medical, etc., done.)

<<d. Do we have the option of choosing an interview date or we just accept whatever the consulate provides,>>

The Consulate provides a date but as CherryXS said, if it is on an inconvenient date you can write an email requesting a change. It might be changed to something far in the future, though!

<<e. When will they provide the interview date, after sending packet-3 or along with packet-3 ?>>

Chennai Consulate assigned us an interview date before any packet was sent to us. They sent the interview letter in Packet 4.

<<f. When will my fiancee receive packet-4 ?>>

Your fiancee should receive packet 4 soon after they receive the case from the NVC. Packet 4 has all the info for the interview, like lists of required documents, how and where to get the medical done, etc.

<<g. What about the VFS office, Do we submit the documents to VFS office or just take them to the interview ?>>

Generally they are handed in person 10-15 working days before the interview, to the VFS office. Any documents not ready can be given at the interview.

Chennai sent me Packet 4 via email when I wrote requesting it (because it was late in getting to us by post). If you PM me your email address, I will forward it on over to you.

The above details apply ONLY to Chennai Consulate. Delhi and Mumbai both have lengthy procudures of sending out Packet 3 and not assigning an interview date until the applications in Packet 3 are sent back to them.

Also keep in mind that THINGS CHANGE in the visa journey, any info given here might be old and procedures might be different now!:yes: Good luck with your journey!!

    ELW Thank you, VERY INFORMATIVE

I have a question for one and all about Chennai Consulate process: My fiance is from Hyderabad, his interview is set in Chennai. So that means he'll have to get his pcc from hyderabad but what about his medical? Will it have ot be taken in Chennai or Hyderabad. And how much inadvance he'll have to send all his paperwork? Should he just mail everything from Hyderabad or give it in person, the day of the interview?

  5. YAY! Got a hardcopy of NOA2 on July 15, 2010 :D Now happens next? Will I receive any more notices from immigration since I am the petitioner. Or is it my fiance who will now start receiving these notices and all? Are they going to contact me or should I contact them as to find out if our file reached my fiance's embassy. I am alittle confused because in our NOA2 they didn't mention what embassy it's going to. I put hyderabad, India but Hyderabd doesn't have an American consulate that processes k1 visas. So I am guessing they might send it to Chennai, India. What should I do? Who do I contact to find out where is my file sent?

Thank for all the sugesstions, encouragement advice and guidance I have gotten from this sight so far. God bless you all!

  6. Hello, well looks like your fiance's got the similar case with mine. I overstayed my previous visit in 2000-2003, so it was about 6 years ago when we were applying for K-1 visa.

My K-1 was denied and we needed to filed for the waiver, but i see your fiance's is approved, which is a good sign, i hope, because his overstaying was already longer than 10 years ago. I think his ban is already expired. At his K-1 (I-129F) interview, did they ask him anything about his overstaying?

No, he hasn't gone to his interview yet, we just got our NOA2. Now if I may ask how do we go about getting the waiver done if they ask for one? When, where and who provides you with the waiver? Who do we submit to? and how soon does it have to get done?

Thank you soooooo much with all your responses and advice

  7. he will definitely be questioned about it, IMO, the worse that I see is they deny him at the interview and you file a wavier and then he gets the visa...

Thank you very much for your advice

God forbid incase if he got denied where and when do we file a wavier. Does the consulate provide you the waiver sheet? How soon should it be done. Who to submit to?

  8. The verification of employment letter should be something like: RE: Verification of Employment - [name of the employee]

Then it should have "To whom it may concern: The purpose of this letter is to verify that _____ is an active, full time employee of ______. The position held by _____ is ______ (ex: electrical engineer) with an annual salary of $____.

Dates of employment are _____ to present; and the probability of continued employment is ____(good/bad...)". This is what the verification of employment should contain.

You don't need to address it to the consular officer or something. It should be used to support I-134, together with the bank statement, recent pay stubs and income tax returns for the last 3 years(1040s and W-2s).

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you it is helpful

  9. We just called them..sadly a waste of time. They basically told us that there are no steps between them recieving it and their decision, so it probably wont be updated until they decide. They said that the official length is 5 month and if we dont recieve it by September 2nd we shall call again.

Sad..i would have loved somebody actually saying yes, we working on it.

Sorry to hear you are waiting since April too, but atleast shows me that i am not alone ;-)

Well, I just received a text and an email confirming that my I-129f got approved waiting for a harcopy of NOA2. I am praying that yours should be on the way too. Best of Luck!

  10. Hi there,

since filing our petition in the beginning of April, we did not hear anything. Not even being touched in the meanwhile.

I know it can take a couple of months before recieving NOA2, but seeing so many that filed in Vermont (even later than we did) are already approved makes me worry.

Anybody else waiting that long like we are doing?

Should we already call and ask what´s up with our case?

Got NOA1 April 15, 2010 ever since waiting. I know the wait is sooooo frustrating and worrisome especially due to the fact that there are some who filed after us have gotten to the next stage while we are wating. I haven't called USCIS yet, but planning to do so in a week or two.

  11. Wow, congrats to you all. we sent ours to VSC april 27. Received NOA1 right away but since then nothing... Sounds like all the fast processing is happening for people who mailed stuff in around June 1 - i'm interested in hearing from others who sent it in in april/may??

I got my NOA1 on April 15, haven't heard form USCIS ever since just waiting! I hope we get our good news soon

  12. I am definitely NOT the only one worried, frustrated and waiting to hear from USCIS. Really praying hard for all April and before filers to get moving to the next stage. I am not liking the wait, and thank GOD for this website we all can share our frustration and vent out together. Thank you

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF US!

  13. I got my NOA1 on 04/15/10. Haven't heard nothing from USCIS yet, only have been touched once on 04/20/10. The wait is getting too frustrating specially when I hear people getting their NOA2 within a month. Should I start worrying yet? I am wondering how many more sailing in my boat? Let's pray for speedy processing

  15. My Fiancee overstayed in USA from 1986 to 1993 Would I face problems with immigration regarding his overstay? Any particular documents he has to show in the initial stages of filing the i-129F. Oh by the way, he never attempted to enter US after he left in 1993.

I am all ready to file I-129F for my fiance in India. Wanted to know what additional documents I need to send together with the form to show proofs that he has never attempted to come back to US for the past 17 years. And I would like to make sure that this process goes smoothly and he gets his visa Asap!

    I have already filled out:

    1. I-129F

  16. in my opinion I think is an international marriage broker

On their (http://www.shiamatch.com/terms.php check paragraph 4.) website it say

"The Service is an internet information service that facilitates contact between members. The Company is under no obligation to broker any other member or members for you."

Does that mean my question 19 is a NO, I did not meet my fiance through the services of an international marriage broker?
