  1. I live in the US now married, my permanent resident card expired end if August which I renewed a couple weeks before it expired. I was just told it could be up to a year wait for my new card.. All my family of course lives in canada and I had plans to go home for the holidays. Can I leave the country and still get back in with the recipe of renewal although it only days pending and or just use my Canadian passport? I really need to go home for the holidays. Please help me!!

  2. There is a place here in FL that specializes in buying and selling used cars of all types so I will see if they have issue of the speedometer.

I am more concerned about ownership issues....I can't remember if New York gave me a title for vehicle or not....but they wouldn't have allowed me to register without proof of ownership, right??

  3. Hey everyone! Not sure if this is best spot for post, but my (now wife) is Canadian and so is her vehicle, so thought it would be best to get some info from all of you!

We were married officially last summer, but we officially imported her vehicle into New York state where we were initially living. I got a letter of emissions from Mazda and that was all ok, we did the import and car was all registered fine in NY....fast forward one year....we are now living in Florida (moved here not too long ago) and the car still has NY plates and registration on it. We are looking to sell the car.

Do any of you know what all is involved and what kind of a process that would be since it is a Canadian car?

Again, we have the emissions letter, the record of importation when we did that, the NY auto registration, and of course the legal license plates for the car.....

What else, if anything would we need??

The car is collecting dust sitting in our driveway and we would like the cash from selling it :)

    Thanks in advance!

  4. We just checked the USCIS web site and my wife has been approved for her Travel Document and EAD....here's my question....the USCIS site says this in regards to her travel doc:

"On May 17, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT. Please follow any instructions on the notice."

What are the instructions that are usually included? Does this mean the travel document will not be in the package they send? Can she go someplace immediately after receiving that notice to pick up that document?

We have a trip planned to the Dominican Republic June 8 so fingers crossed we get it before then!!!

  5. Got biometrics appt in the mail today for I485 and I765!!!

that is 2 weeks from tomorrow...

Can we expect to get her travel doc in the near future too???

How long have some of you seen from time of biometrics until green card or interview for green card?

  6. yea figured green card would take longer than others....can my wife leave country and re-enter with travel document before green card arrives?

She would love to visit fam in Canada before green card comes!!

  7. luckily enough, my wife got the text messages last night from USCIS...they received and had established case #'s for all of the petitions - AOS, EAD, and travel document....you know we will be checking every day now haha

What have people been seeing for turnaround times as far as how soon until they either get those docs and/or have to go to another interview before they get them?

  8. ok so I'm not sure if I should post this in AOS forum or this one because my wife is Canadian...anyways, sent in AOS packet, it was signed for and received....where do we check status? I know it's too soon to check but hey, we can dream!! haha

anyways, where do we check status for AOS?

  9. Thanks for those replies!

On her vaccination doc, under results, doc check the boxes which state the following-

"Application may be eligible for blanket waiver as indication above"

"Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver (s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate."

Under that same area, there are two other boxes, neither of which are checked that say, "vaccine history complete for each vaccine, all requirements met" and "applicant does not meet vaccination immunization requirements for one or more vaccines and no waiver is requested."

So it looks like she is fine?

Do I sent the x-ray in addition to this vaccination record??

@pocheros thanks!! You must have been typing at same time as me haha

I think we should be all good.

Last but not least....am I making this whopper of a check out to Homeland Security like I did back at the beginning?

  10. ok this helps!

what I have in my possession:

    x-ray

a paper from the doctor labeled CML Healthcare and it gives my wife's name, info including the doctor, type of exam, date of exam, passport #, film number

completed vaccination documentation medical worksheet two - this lists all the vaccinations and checks of my wife and the doc's signature.

The exam was in July, 2011 so it is within the 1 year timeframe.

Does this help at all? what to do from here?

  11. hello all!! Been a few months since I have posted anything. Here is my newest issue....and I am very frustrated because not sure where to go from here.

My fiance at the time was approved for her K-1 and she entered the US and we got married within the 90 days. This was back in the beginning of September. Because we didn't have the extra money to file for AOS until NOW, i am finishing up her AOS packet. Yes I know her I-94 has expired and she is in limbo state right now, as well as being "stuck" here in the US. I am putting together the AOS packet and noooowwwww I realize we are missing something.

My wife had her medical examination and all that and it was fine....but the physician never gave her a completed I-693; not only that, the envelope we have with her physical results was already open (doc never sealed it). If I am reading this all correctly, no way I can get her to be approved for AOS without that completed I-693 form from physician in Canada. 2 problems with this; #1, we live in Florida now (Canada is a LONG ways) and #2, if she were to hop back over to have another examination, she'd be stuck there until she got travel document/AOS.

    WHAT DO WE DO???!!!!

  12. Quick question we need help on....

my fiance (now wife!) entered here into the US on July 28 with her K1 Visa. There are two docs in her passport....there is the I-94 document that is written as a K1 visa and says October 28 as the expiration date....there is also the new page with her US visa which shows an expiration date of January 2012 in it.

We have now been legally married and have certificate and license in hand, and we are about set to get all paperwork sent in, in the next week for AOS and all that good stuff....

but my question is, how long do we have to be able to file for the AOS....is it the October date or the January date? I know with the fiance visa you have 90 days to legally MARRY, but didn't know if it was also 90 days to have all your paperwork submitted for AOS....

    Thanks all!!

  13. I will ask this question too, as my fiance just entered the US on her K1. When we apply for her adjustment of status, do we NEED to also apply for EAD, or is the EAD automatically included when we apply for her AOS??

I feel like it would be extra money if we apply for them separately....

..so the short of it, is what is included in the adjustment of status? Does it bring the ability to work with it?

  14. @edsotherhalf that is awesome, finallllllyyyy!! Congrats!

I'd love to take the time to ask everyone for advice....waiting for my fiance's K-1 Visa.

    Here is where we are....

Had her interview on July 11 in Montreal. Sent an email to the Montreal consulate email addy like everyone suggested on Wednesday, July 13....then got a nice email back on Friday July 15 which said the following:

"The visa should be printed today, it has been approved but hasn’t left our office as it must be cleared in our system

as done with every case. I’ll keep you posted.

Thank you for your continued patience.

    OP6 "

Here we are now, July 27, 12 days later and my fiance has not received an email or phone call from DHL (we are registered with both an email and 2 phone numbers on CSC and DHL site) and the CSC site is still showing no update.

I feel like based off of that email from Montreal, we should have at least seen an email with a waybill number on it by now.....

Advice????? We are extremely anxious (going on 3 weeks of not seeing each other).....

    Thanks all!

  15. They are extremely rude on the phone and one guy Matt that keeps answering for me just blatantly lies and tells me he cant see any info.

I feel like its pointless to call DOS.

I e-mailed the Montreal-IV line and got a nice pleasant response that I had been approved and it was being processed and printed and should be sent out within a few days. Our interview was on the 15th though, so I am doubting I will have it mailed by Tuesday like I need.

YA.. they told me they were printing and mailing mine last friday via email.. hate waking up and checking and finding nothing. how is it people are interviewing and getting their visa that quickly! im so confused. Happy for them.. but not happy about my situation right now. I interviewed july 11th.. i live right outside toronto.. how long could it possible take?!

  16. I know... They are sooooooo rude!! I asked the same questions and the lady was so snarly with me so I asked why she was coming down on me and being rude, I said it's hard enough on us waiting and going through this process... She then hung up! Rude! They told us last Friday when we emailed the consulate that it was approved and should be printed that day.. That was this past Friday! We have not received anything thus far.. No notification from DHL! :( Seth is in Florida as we moved there and I'm stuck here in Hamilton! Sucks. Going on 3 weeks! So much for what i thought was gonna be 5 days!
