  1. You won't get any traction calling USCIS about your I-485 until it has exceeded their posted goal for processing duration, which is usually 6 months. Any inquiries made prior to that will get a canned, scripted "call us back when it's been 6 months" response.

If it has been 6 months, your best bet is to make an InfoPass appointment. You'll go down to your local USCIS office and talk to an Immigration Officer who may actually have the ability to query and nudge the system to find out what's going on and get it moving again. If that fails, your next best bet is to contact the Immigration Liaison office at your local congressional rep's or Senator's office (pick one, not both) and see what they can do. They can nudge the system as well and are often very effective at getting stuck cases moving again.

Thanky you so much for the information... I guess i have to wait. God Bless You All!

  2. Hi Everyone,

I need some help... I received my EAD card since February 15, 2010 and until not i didn't get any email from USCIS updating me about my status for my I-485. Below is the last message I got from them...

"On February 19, 2010, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action."

What will I do now? Should I call USCIS? How long would it take to process my I-485?

Thank you for your help! I'll be waiting for someone to help me. TY

    Joan

  4. You need some form of identification, and if you don't have a US driver license, the Passport is your best bet. Frankly, I doubt that the bulldog at the door will look at -- or even give a rodents behind -- about its expiration date. Relax.

Thanx Bob for the reply... Have a fantastic Night :)

  5. Will someone help me with my concern.... please

During biometrics do we need a valid passport? because my passport is going to expire on April 2010 and the nearest consulate is 5 hours drive... i have no friends and my husband is very busy serving his country that he couldn't get a leave easily. (My AOS is forwarded at California Service Center and i'm expecting a mail from them soon) I didn't receive my I-765 and biometrics yet!!!!!

Is my passport very important during the AOS process???

Thank you and I hope someone will help me!

    Joe :innocent:

  6. I had the same problem myself with the biometrics. After 30 days past after AOS package was sent to Chicago I called USCIS and told them about this letter delay. They made a service request to the local Immigration Office and on the next day I got my biometric letter. In couple of days I made a walk-in biometric and it went everything just fine.

You should call USCIS ASAP if you want to get moving with the biometrics!

By the way congratulations with your transfer to California Center... it means it should be moving faster now!

I will call them if i won't receive any mail from them so that they can speed up my application. Thank you so much for sharing and i'll keep it n mind!

    Take care Andana... :)

  7. So about 60 days ago (with an RFE in between).

One would assume that since your AOS got transferred to CSC, you could feel confident that they got your response to the RFE and have resumed processing (which is good, since an RFE effectively stops all processing - including on the EAD, until you satisfactorily respond). You should be expecting biometrics pretty soon then - can't get the EAD without it. I'd look for it any day now.

Thank you so much for your reply! you gave me hope and i'll update you soon Karin & Otto...

Again, thank you and take care :D

PS: I'm so happy that i signed up and probably someday i can help...

  8. Hi everyone, I received an email from USCIS stating....

On February 19, 2010, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made.

My Adjustment of status has been based on marriage within 90 days to my husband. We mailed our RFE for I-864- Supporting documents. And until now we didn't receive any update with my I-765 and biometrics. I am confused and no clue what would be the next step. Please help me? when will i have my biometrics? and how soon can i work after the process? :crying:

Thank you and your help is highly appreciated.

    Joan
