  1. Earlier in this process my husband filled out the DS230 and answered yes to wanting a SS card and #. Now that he is in the states I am trying to find out do we have to submit anything else, because I assumed that would be all needed. Our local SSA don't have the information hitting there system yet, so they want us to give it a little more time. They don't want to risk giving my husband 2 #s. Does this seem correct? Have anyone experience this?

Your interview took 349 days from your I-130 NOA1 date.

When my husband and I went to the SS office, they told us it would take 8 weeks. My husband entered the state of Cali 2/12/11 and it still hasn't arrived yet. The PO has all of whom lives here and still no card. Hate to be a downer, but I wish I knew before that it would take this long...his GC came so quickly I just knew the SS card would come right after, but I was wrong. I'll pray for you and your husband, please pray for me and mine

  2. I have a question and wondering if anyone could provide some answers.

My ex husband who is an American citizen (as well as I) owes back child support totaling over $30,000.00 He currently resides and works in the UK and is married to a British citizen and they have two children together born in the UK. Sept. 2010 his US passport was revoked at the US Embassy and he was given a temp passport to return to the US. We held a hearing in the State of Hawaii in Oct. concerning the support owed and another hearing was scheduled in Nov. During this hiring his attorney reported he has returned to the UK and had UK documents he could use to travel back and forth with. The Child Support Office in Hawaii has reported his US passport is currently still revoked as he has not paid anything towards his owing balance. My question is what papers would allow him to travel? Does him being married to a British citizen allow him to return so easily?

The same thing has happened to Jermaine Jackson (Michael Jackson's brother) and he can NOT return to the states until the balance is paid in full. But if he has claimed he is become a UK citizen he may be covered. Sorry that I don't have the best info.

  3. First of all, all honor and praise to God who I have given all my worries and cares to. He answered prayers and given me many reasons to always trust and believe in only Him, not some CO.

My husbands first interview was on November 8th and received a 221g for call records only. I worked diligently to retrieve those call records and also printed more emails and also a few letters from close friends. I don't know all the details yet, but my husband did say that he was interviewed by a man, I believe the same man that may have interviewed Rominck....either way I thank God that this man saw the sincerity of our marriage and relationship. It has been over a year since my husband and I have been with each other. Our wedding anniversary is next month so everything fell into place, just as God planned it.

Many thanks to Visa Journey, for I would still probably be lost at the starting point. All of you who share your experiences and spread hope and inspiration, I am sure that I am not the only one who is indebted to you. I have gained many friendships, but Rominck you have been a true inspiration and I pray that you and your loved one enjoy many years of happy, joyful, and prosperous years of marriage. To all of you thank you for giving me hope and guidance, for not letting me give up and showing your support. The Embassy in Lagos, it ain't easy, but with God, all things are possible. I will try to get more details from my husband and report them to help later. To all that are still awaiting responses from NVC or the Embassy keep your faith in God, dont' give up!

  4. well from my earlier post you all know about my the request for phone records under section 221g, i have been able to gather as much phone records that i can get my hands on and requested an official call records from my phone company.... my question is should my husband just send Lagos embassy an email with the date he wants, as stated on the letter (221g)given to him, or just ask them to give him an interview date? how does this work? also do u know how long it takes them to respond back?

My husband and I had to do the same thing...I actually sent the email for the interview. In the email I listed some dates that we would prefer, but we received the earliest date available....I requested dates before Christmas and after leading up to New Years, but we received a date of 1/18. At least is not 3 to 6 months away. So send your email as soon as possible. The Lagos embassy actually got back to me within a week. God bless you and yours on your continued journey....

  5. Good Friday everyone,

I am trying to send an email to the Lagos Consulate to request a new interview for my husband but, I receive a response that says the delivery of the email failed. Does anyone know for sure the correct email address? I got the last email address from the embassy information here on Visa Journey, but I don't know for sure if its correct.....suggestions?

  6. Hello

May I make a suggestion. IM sure you can provide E mails

    right or wrong ? ?

I have pictures from visits, E mails and the use of Skype

Why would I have to have proof of phone calls ? ? ? ?

When i can use skype for free they USCIS can check Skype

account and see how long its been working. Save your history

from skype and it show months of IMS usage and chat.

    Also

3 sets of airplane tickets, to and from Ukraine.

Marriage certificate, Lease agreement. Letters from friends

and family my attorney said that was enough its not necessary

to be declined for lack of proof of phone calls.

    Something else is the problem..

    Some things else is wrong.

I never heard nobody ever get declined from that. NOBODY !

Do you have an attorney, if not i would get one and file and

case against the USCIS for incorrect for being declined.

I have newpaer articles of her and I where she works at her museum

and other peoples letters. Even documents on my passport were married

in Ukraine they use passport for proof of ID.

Everything in my passport entrance in and exits of Ukraine since 2008 until

present 5 times back and forth from Los angeles to Ukraine and back.

Just document all things you can.

Now my wife and I are having our first child in spring also. he will have 2

citizenships Ukraine and US after we go to Kiev enblassy with Ukraine birth

certificate. Plus im living here until her inteview and than moving back

    to Los Angeles.

I would ask for a hearing if this is really the case. And i would be taking

and attorney also. Many of you people are doing your own Filings, and when

these things happen you have no body to support your case. aif you have

an attorney you dont need to worry

$1k plus filing cost for doucments to prepare them and attorney to file

the case and all the way up to adjustment of status.

of status is well worth the funds. I know many dont have that kind of money

but it better to be safe than sorry...doing it alone.

    Good Luck

    Ron

I assure you my husband and I had all emails, all pictures, all documents. He even had his call records from Nigeria and text messages from me. The only thing that the female CO wanted was call records from me. I have a few skype calls but since he is in Nigeria there is a delay and my husband didn't like it so we use yahoo! chat. I have the printouts of my travels there. We were not ill prepared, but rather careful of all that evidence that was needed. It wasn't at the USCIS, this was at the US embassy in Lagos. Trust me, I would have rather not have received a 221g for this issue and would have preferred a approval, but it is what it is and we are working delegently to obtain what is needed. But may I make a suggestion, before you assume that this or that wasn't done, maybe you should check in with all that I have been through first. I do appreciate you response, but can't help but feel a little insulted. This has been very devastating to my husband and I. So before you look down and question what I "didn't do" verify the facts.

  7. I'm sorry to hear about your ordeal. But can you please provide more clarification on your situation, so that we can better know what to share with you.

Specifically, what notice was your husband given after the interview? Is it a 221g notice (temporary refusal, usually due to incomplete documentation), or an outright denial letter (which is usually given only when the consular has reasonable doubt about the authenticity of your marriage relationship).

If it is a 221g, then you have nothing to worry about at all. If it is an outright denial, then you may need some intervention attempt (perhaps from your Senator) or other line of actions. In any case, I pray that God will help you out.

    Please clarify.

I did mention that he received a 221g in my response about 3 spots above yours. All this CO wanted was phone records from me. My husband had his from his cell phone and his text messages. The interveiw went good as my husband says he just knew he would get an approval, but she gave him the 221g to get my phone records. By the way, I am having a hard time getting them because my phone company only keeps records of long distance calls and not free calls( I used calling cards to call my husband). So now I have to get a subpoena in order to get all outing going calls. This is such a nightmare, but I am trying to stay focused and not give in....I want my husband with me! We want to be together now...our 2nd anniversary is in February and I can't be separated from him for that. Please everyone keep us in your prayers!

  8. Good to hear you and your hubby's spirits are lifting.

I have one question to ask though. You mentioned he didn't have to pay a $350.00 fee? What visa fee is that??? I ask because my hubby and I are starting the NVC stage, and with all the expenses, we are budgeting for the various fees.

On the Consulate review for the Embassy in Lagos, it mentions that you must pay a $350 visa fee when you check in...but he didn't have to pay it. We paid the visa fee to the NVC anyway so I never really knew what the extra money was for, but he went with it anyway just in case.

  9. I 100% thank all of you for you uplifts, prayers, well wishes, and support! My husband did have his own call records and text messages from his cell phone there in Nigeria. We had all other supporting documents and my husband said the interview went very well so he felt strongly that he would get the approval. He said she took her time going thru our emails and pictures. Then she asked for the phone records. He handed her his and my calling cards that she rejected without having the phone records. We received a 221g, so we can reschedule for a new appointment (thank God). Oh and my husband did NOT have to pay the $350 USD visa fee. They told him it had been paid already...has anyone else heard of that? It's just really devastating to not get the approval because we had everything else. I'm still feeling confident that the second interview will be in our favor. I have already requested the phone records from my phone company (Time Warner) and are awaiting its arrival. I pray that those of you who are just beginning or are in the process of the interview learn from me. My husband and my spirits are improving, but I can't even try to explain how much pain it is to know one person made a decision that turned my world upside down. You see, my husband and I are a miracle. I'm blessed to have such a wonderful loving man in my life. Mark (Azuoma)has definately been my strength even though I know he is hurting too. I miss him so much already and its past due time for us to start living our lives together. Again, thank you to all for your suggestions and support!

  10. we are preparing for our interview coming up next month for 1R1, i have printed out lots of copies of the phone records from the phone call company online like pennytalk or rebtel?, my question is, do i still have to print record from my phone company e.g t-mobile or sprint, or just call from the phone card company is enough? and if yes how far should i go? (months or years)? thanks

Trust me, go as far as possible!! My husband was denied for not having the phone records from me (US citizen). I thought the calling cards would be enough. Go as far as you can!

  11. Ooh, in Lagos, they always demand the call records.......you need to somehow get the call records, and ask them to give you another appointment. Exact same thing happened to my friend last year...but her husband was able to get the call records from the phone company, though it took them 2months to be able to secure another interview appointment, but she was approved the moment she presented the call records. Don't give up.

....for all of us waiting on the CR-1 visa, they will not accept call cards as evidence in Lagos, the USC needs to be sure he is able to produce records of calls made to the nigerian. the more records, the better..

thank you! I can't give up...I miss my husband and want him here with me so badly. It's just not right, but I am definately going to give them what the want and get our approval. We have just been through too much to let this be our end! Thank you for the response!

  12. We were denied because my husband didn't have call records from me. I never called him direct, only used phone cards and they rejected those. My husband said that she was giving him a denial letter but, if I can get the call records even with the 800#'s on them, they would accept them. I am very sad now and really trying to keep my spirits high for me and my husband. God is still God and he is awesome, and I know I know I KNOW this is not our end, so I need your help VJ family....what's my next step?

  13. I am not sure you get pkt 3 and 4 when filing an IR-1/CR-1 but I am not 100% I think pkt 3and 4 is for us K-1 folks.....but FYI pkt 3 in terms of K-1 visa is the email they send you there is a link and you go to the link and download the paperwork and take with you to the embassy on your interview date, and pkt 4 is the interview date they send you in that same email so there is no actual pkt 3&4 in naija when it comes to K-1 it is just the email they send with the interview date and the link to download DS 156 and 156K and some other stuff like where to do the medical and get the police certification. Good luck with everything maybe someone filing Cr-1/ir-1 can come along and clarify things for you I hope I didnt confuse you... :)

ok that what I was thinking and you didnt confuse me at all...actually cleared up what I thought was right. I appreciate it and thank you.

  14. We received our interview date via email on October 9th from the NVC, but I have not received anything else from the NVC or the Lagos Consulate. Should I have received a packet 3 or 4? Should I be concerned? Oh and my husband thinks he needs to get ANOTHER birth certificate and new Police clearances just to go to the interview even though we had the originals already submitted to the NVC. Included with the email it had a document legend and a list of items, but everything was submitted in the beginning and nothing additonal was requested. Please help!

  15. Hi,

We got turned down for a California drivers license for the second time today.

I didn't think it was a big problem, and I work, and she stays at home and

studies english (she is the K1 visa holder). She went to the CA DMV with passport

in hand, including attached I-94 form, and they sent her away and told her

"you cannot get that until you are married".

Well, now we are, and I found out that they had no reason to deny the license

from another office. So I went in with her. This time they said the I-94 is "about

to expire", and they won't issue a license for it. They tell me that the I-94 is

only 60 days (she arrived here August 20th). As for the employee that sent

her packing the first time, they told us "tell is the name and we will inform

her of the policy", ie., they won't do anything for us.

Is there anything to be done at this point? The only obvious alternative

is to wait for the AOS, get a permanent resident card, all of which is a few

months and an interview. Is there another way?

    Thanks,

    Scott

The I-94 needs to be valid for at least 90 days, especially since it takes up to 90 days just to get the hardcopy in the mail. As long as her name is the same on all documents they can give the DL in her maiden name then when you get married, you will have to go back to the DMV to change it. You can apply for the DL if you have 60 days but it will be a waste of time if you cant produce an extended document to complete the application. Sadly you cant even get an ID card until the legal presence doc is extended. Good luck and hope this helps

  17. So I deceided to call the NVC's automated voice response (AVR) again today to see what the status is now and to my surprise the case was completed as of September 22!!! I am crying, laughing, dancing, screaming, shaking, all at once. This is been the most stressful time in my entire life! It's been a year now that I have been with my husband and now I know I only have to wait a short while now to see him and have him in my life permanently!! God is so good and I knew he would answer our prayers! He will be here for the holidays to share and be with me to start our life, with over a year that we have been married!! I know he still has the interview, but I'm not worried about that at all. To all that are still in the beginning stages, if you know God, keep praying and believing! Even if you don't, stay positive, be patient, and know everything will be alright!! Thanks for all the help that members have given me!!

  18. Good morning,

So on yesterday, I went to the sign in page just to see :innocent: if it showed failed. To my suprise it did!! So I start doing my dance, but then realized I didnt receive an email from the NVC to tell me the case was complete so I called the AVR which says when the last date the received my infor and it would be 6-8 weeks. What??? So then I call to speak to and operator and she then tells me that the case is in its final review. Thats all she said! Am I too anxious or is this normal?
