  1. well I knew my husband for a very very long time before the whole immigration BS (dated when I was in high school overseas) but i can tell you something. after I came back for UNI, EVERY SINGLE TIME I visited him was like the first time I met him. I would often daydream or put myself to sleep at the thought of going back and visiting. It is exciting and just plain fun like you get all these butterflies every time you step on and off the plane. One time I just randomly went to Amman and surprised him haha. That was very very fun. I always wanted to do it but could never keep a secret once i booked my ticket! that time was the last time I went to visit Amman before he was approved for the visa. I called my dad after my internship one day and just told him that i want to go and I have the money. My dad was in Amman at the time, and i convinced him so he called his travel agent and booked/payed for my ticket. the agent called me and told me that I have an hour and a half to be in the airport to check in! I ran home and packed the quickest suitcase ever and rushed to the airport. Not a soul besides my father an cousin knew i was going including my mother haha! when i got to Amman my dad called him and asked him what he was up to in order to find out where he was... i drove over there and walked into his work and it was just crazy... like bliss haha. anyways from experience... every time is like the first time. Butterflies, nervousness and just about the best feeling on earth! good luck and I hope you get to visit your man and get to experience that amazing feeling!

  2. Alhamdulilah we are very fortunate and he works with my dad who owns a few businesses. But i would say depending on if he has a degree (or a transferrable one) maybe try to find work in his area of expertise. If not usually labor jobs. I know it sucks, but it is the way life works. My husband didnt go to school overseas, and he just decided that he wants to go to college! we are very happy for that! just keep calm it takes alot of patience and hard work but eventually it will all work out just have some faith and be sure to encourage him every day. Moving to a new country can leave someone to feel very helpless, even though he has you as a support system it is very hard not to have family around. When the time comes you just have to work with what you get and hope and pray things get better. I dont give a ####### about how bad the economy is... because i personally believe that if you are hard working no matter what happens you can make a living. He has one advantage, I have noticed that the men from america are actually kind of lazy... the men from overseas are used to working 80 hour weeks... so in a sense it does give them a sort of advantage! good luck!

  3. So my husband had gone through AP with 221g but he wasnt missing anything... from what I understood its just additional processing. So law ana ma7alk bab3tlhom al wra2 ili bdhomya b2asra3 wa2et. For my husband it took around 6 months for the additional processing. it is because you are a male from the middle east for the most part. the only thing that really stinks about it is that you have no clue where your paperwork is at and the only thing you can check is the online database. So make sure you set up the text and email notifications, and just keep checking and Inshallah it will happen as fast as possible.

  4. Hello! so you need to do the medical exam before he goes to the interview date. in the package they sent him, it should have all of that information on it. Like where he should go to get the exam done and when he should do it. You should read that first. The doctors i think are in the Arab medical center if i am not mistaken, my husband said that they were really nice to him, but anyways i think the doctor is assigned so you cant really choose one.

  5. Hi all! Going back to see my hubby again in a few days. I already have presents for my hubby and his brother. Any suggestions for my in laws?

Hmmmm well when i went back to amman, i brought my mother in-law like a lotion set...and his sister some perfume... why dont you just ask? ask him...or give her a call and ask her... whenever I go back i do, she loves the vitamins from walmart lol so that is usually what she wants... I would just ask him if you want it to be a surprise

I'd suggest something they can hang up on a wall maybe. Something that defines your state?? My in-law are from Wyoming and are originally from South Africa, they have family all over the world so as gifts they send out large tapestry type thing with 'Wyoming' 'Cheyenne' 'America' on them and picture that define the state, you can hang them on the walls and they look really nice. They have them in their house too and I've been to family in South Africa who have them and I really like them. They'll be able to hang it up and think of you and their son.

think 'arab' lol... beauty products, lotion, perfume, even makeup...trust me

  6. a good example is this, the ankara embassy requires a packet 3 for all beneficiaries, but the abu dhabi one doesnt ( i used these two because i specifically know about both of them ).

youre all good, dont worry, just have everything with you.when you do have to send the packet three in,they usually email you and let you know if you missed out something and tell you to bring it to the interview,it doesnt cause much delay.but if you dont have a packet 3 then you have to have EVERYTHING at the interview

    What consists of everything?

I have all of the forms stated on the checklist they sent me and the NOA1 and NOA2 but unfortunately I dont have the I-129f etc that I had sent out originally...My lawyer flipping lost my file when he was moving offices :/ (sooooooooooooo pissed about that... and that douche supposedly is a supreme court lawyer...) but yea and I have proof etc...even more than in the beginning because i had gone back after i sent out everything twice... and it is all very neatly compiled into a binder-- in an extremely impressive manner I might add

  7. Wow, I can understand how that is hard. And expensive. I know I spend a lot just for me to go to Egypt. And of course I have children that would love to travel with me. But with school for the kids and me working, there is no time or no money...lol. Hang in there it will all work out.

    I hope so...

  8. some consulates in middle east, mostly arab countries dont have a packet 3,they require you to bring everything and i mean everything to the interview, they have probably attached a list of documents needed to the interview letter.its not abnormal

Yea they did I have everything very organized too I might Add... but it doesn't seem odd? how can they confirm the information?

  9. Ok so I applied for the k-1 visa in February. everything was fine, i did get a RFE, which was quickly submitted. We received the NOA2, great...but about a month ago they sent us the packet 4 directly with the interview date etc. This is without sending them anything else besides the initial forms... so like no packet 3 was sent to my fiance or anything, and therefore he didnt send anything back to the embassy... I thought this was normal but now that I am thinking about it...it doesnt seem right... like how are they going to verify everything at the time of the interview? --which is Monday btw... like the affidavit of support, police clearance etc... all of it is with my fiance, they have never seen it before...am I just being paranoid? or is this normal? just in case our stats:

met while I was in Highschool in jordan

    Both Palestinian/Jordanians

I was Born in the US

dated fr 2 years until I came back to the US for University

I am about to graduate this year... together 5 years almost now

    He is 25 I am 20

we have plenty of proof, and I have visited back to Jordan plenty of times with my family

    common friends overseas etc..the works

I hope someone could help me out because this is really confusing me

  10. Congratulations on receiving your NOA2..that is great news!! Inshallah, the rest of your journey will go quickly and smoothly. That is funny about the text you received during class. =)

Haha thank you very much! interview is on Monday Inshallah...im seriouslt freeaakinggg out! I am sooooo happy I did not do the Kitab by the way... God has a funny way in helping people out al7amdulilah. So we had some problems with the Kitab when my dad came to jordan, and we ended up not doing it and my dad made me come back to america early :( I was really really really sad and depressed about it... it was all from his crappy sister inlaw i swear she is the worst person i have ever met...and I dont hate people never have..but her i can honestly say I HATE... but anyways when I got back to the US it just bothered my how things went down, and it made me second guess everything between us.. and ofc i had everyone constantly telling me to "make sure" and im like dude we have been together for 5 years I AM SURE, but still it was in the back of my brain. So during Ramadan I was seriously thinking alot, and I am not a very religious person...but I ended up praying salat al Istikhara like 5 days in a row at fajr (for those of you who dont know what that is, its like a prayer where you ask god for guidance, and to help you or give you a sign to help you make a decision, it can come in a dream, or something may happen suddenly, or even way into the future and you realize like wow! God answered my prayer and helped me go down the right path.)Anyways, about 2 weeks after I prayed Istikhara, I was on facebook and I have the Jordan embassy as one of my pages so i saw a post that they had updated something on their website with the K-1 Visa... So i opened it and then they had officially posted that Katib al kitab is seen as a legal marriage by the US and Jordan therefore if it is done you have to like reapply do the Cr1 or soemthing like that... That day I cried, and was so thankful to God. When everything happened I hated life and I was so scared that I was making a mistake, but then its like a bright light appeared before me. Like WOW this horrible thing that happened, actually helped me alot.. just goes to show you never know what life can bring you!

  11. thanks your habibak is lucky coz your dad help him im happy for him

Thank you... wallahi it is so hard but Inshallah you will get through it...trust me no matter what there is work... you just have to find it... you might not make that much but working in general will give you experience and a first hand input on the language, so you will learn much faster if you get out and work then if you are just at home! Good luck!

  12. According to Egyptian law he cannot stop her from leaving. She is citizen of the U.S.; any questions she has about this will be fully answered if she calls the U.S. Embassy.

yes but with the Kitab in the country it changes things... I am assuming she has become part of his family book etc. Us marriage is different then a Marriage in egypt (Us marriage alone actually isnt even recognized in egypt when it is with an egyptian man/woman) this is why in the ME you see alot of men marrying someone in the US and then marrying someone else in their home country with no problems...Unless you have our kitab/legal marriage in THAT country

  13. At the USCIS level there not through checks, where AP the FBI does the back ground check. Oh believe me I understand the wait, it really puts stress on the best of relationships. I am not sure my husband is going to make it and we have not got our NOA2 yet. But I have faith we will make it through ok. Just make sure he is prepared for that interview ;)

Honestly it just has been so hard making the trips overseas... like I can only go for a few months during school breaks and even then my dad wont let me go alone (or stay with my family over there) because of people talking etc. so when i go i have to have a parent with me and it is so expensive like renting a car and cleaning our house, electricity water etc... literally every time i go we spend over 10K at least... It just sucks because i went from seeing him every day when i lived there to like only having a few months in december or the summer...at one point i went for 1.5 years without going to amman... and i am kind of over amman anyways like most of my friends and classmates from back then are like out of the country now, and life goes on... so i spend most of my time just waiting for him to get off work, or with my cousins who are like younger then me... im just sick of Jordan in general and want him by me now... He was at my HS graduation and I really want him at my college grad :'(

  14. I am not sure about Jordon. But it is a middle east country so I am pretty sure he will have to go through it. May I ask, what actually you are worried about in AP?? Is it the extra wait or your afraid they might discover something about him or what??

Plus i didn't even think about AP at all before... I kind of thought it was only for like special cases you know? like maybe people not knowing each other alot, or age differences and stuff like that, or like meeting online or something which is not the case for us... so i didnt think we would have to plan for AP... meaning i have been thinking and planning everything according to my timeline which does not involve AP so that is why I am a bit worried...because I had my hopes up for a certain date... I had plans for certain things at different times etc. so I just want to know if it like HAS to happen for middle eastern/ Jordanian men if it isnt something that is mandatory, or happens to everyone then I am not worried

  15. I am not sure about Jordon. But it is a middle east country so I am pretty sure he will have to go through it. May I ask, what actually you are worried about in AP?? Is it the extra wait or your afraid they might discover something about him or what??

lol it is the waittttt im so sick of waitinggggg! Especially because he is supposed to be with me in my brothers wedding!!! Like I said waiting seriously suckkssssss...im not worried about anything but time...the wait is absolutely horrible...honestly i dont get it dont they do background checks in the USCIS anyways?

  16. good luck guys! it feels like it takes forever but it really does go by pretty quickly... I filed in february and interview is on monday... one word of advice though, check here quite often because these people have great advice...and in reading this stuff alot of questions may arise that you may not have had before... knowing the answer to anything that may happen throughout your journey is a great plus... again good luck!
