Hi,

I just found out that my work is moving me to puerto rico this spring. I am just about to submit my application for a K1 VISA for my partner in Peru, if approved will he be able to join me in puerto rico or is that a completely different application??? Can my address be a puerto rican one or will I have to have my mail sent to the USA interior?

i have been searching the forums but have not found a good answer to my worries...

my peruvian fiance of several years has had some difficult financial problems this past year since he had to leave his job due to health problems...

he is now in debt to a government-owned bank and also behind in paying child support to a child from a previous relationship... i want to continue with the application for the K1 VISA for him, and his best chance in getting out of this financial dilemma is working in the US... many have written in this forum that an applicants debts are not considered in the application process, but can the Peruvian govt intervene and prevent him from leaving the country and going to the USA since the bank is of the peruvian govt? it would be a horrible blow to us both to pay for all the application fees if in the end he is not allowed to leave due to his debts.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

i need some answers from someone with experience...

i met my peruvian fiance in april of 2008 in the US when he was working there on a J1 VISA that has a 2 year requirement that he cannot return to the USA until then... but i am confused as to if this means 2 years from the day he entered the USA or years from when he left and returned to Peru.

assuming that the application process takes a minimum of 5-6months to approval, would it be OK to mail in our application 5-6 months before his 2 year requirement is completed? or must we wait two years before sending in the application?
