  1. My husband went to the interview alone since I was already back in my country. I'm not sure as to where you are in the process right now.

They asked my husband how we met? How long we've been together? who did he know in my family? Has he been to my country? The whole thing did not even take thirty minutes based on what my hubby told me

You should bring everything that will prove your marriage is legit. This includes: Joint bank account statements, pictures of the 2 of you together, marriage licence, wedding pics if you had a big wedding. My husband even had copies of planes tickets when he came to visit me in my country. And receipt from the hotel we stayed at. I also had western union receipts to prove that my husband had been sending me money on a reular basis. I also brought birthday cards and Anniversary cards my husband sent me when it was my turn to go to interview.

    Hope I help a little :)

  2. I was deported because my previous lawyer was on drugs, literally. She got arrested at the airport on drugs charges and forgot to send a couple of papers of mine (You can see why). My case ended up in deportation and I had to start everything over again. This is a long story but I was banned from the US so filing a waiver is a must.

i don't have any advice to offer but wanted to wish you the very best of luck and hope you and your loved one are reunited soon.

    Thanks. I sure need it.

I'm not quite sure what this exact quote means. Mexico processed close to 24,000 waivers of inadmissibility last year. If someone is inadmissible, for whatever reason, they will be denied at the visa interview. If you are found inadmissible bc of your overstay, you will have to file a waiver. I'm not sure how long waivers are taking in your area currently, but I would expect to wait at least 6 months or more after the waiver is turned in.

If you simply overstayed your visa, can I ask why you did not adjust status in country. Generally visa overstay is forgiven with marrige to a US citizen. Were you deported or granted voluntary departure?

  3. Look as an Haitian. I do understand your point of view. I was deported last year and now after the earthquake everybody gets to stay. I know it is not fair to other countries but where will they go? I am now in the Dominican Republic because I no longer have a home in Haiti. So what do you suggest I do? Go back to Haiti and try to make it? I can't work in the Dominican Republic because I am on a visa. If it was not for my Husband in the US, I really don't know what I would have done. The prison was destroyed and prisoners had escaped. It terrifies my husband that I can get hurt by one of them. You don't know who is who anymore. So would you want your wife to be in a situation like this?

  4. Thanks for the reply.

Yes I did contat both embassies. The US embassy in the Dominican Republic was not able to help because I am in DR on a visa. They said I have to be a resident in DR in order for me to have the interview there. And Haitian's embassy said that they can't realy help until NVC sent them my case.

As of right now my case has been completed at the NVC but I'm still waiting on interview date. The interview will happen in Haiti.

They said they're is a program called 'Pilot program" I believe but I may be wrong. It is just for Mexico. They file a waiver the same day of the interview and the applicant get an approval or denial the same day too.

  5. Hi everybody, I am new to this but not new to the immigration process. what can I do. I am an Haitian citizen recently moved to Dominican Republic due to the earthquake. My Husband and I are now in the NVC process.

we know that we are supposed to file the waiver because I overstayed my visa ,and I heard that it usually takes about 6 months to get a decision but I was wondering if you guys heard anything about it being less than that especially after the earthquake? I am here in DR alone basically and trust me it is not fun. It is going to destroy me getting deny at the visa interview but I know this usually happends like this unless you are from Mexico. I am really not loking forward to stay here for 6 months but again it is better than Haiti right now. Please help :( Anything at all will be helpful

Thanks Guys. I need a little support please right. :crying:

My Husband and I are now in the NVC process. I have several questions. can I somehow get my interview here in DR and do all the medical exam here since everything is pretty much destroyed where i was and I am scared to miss the interview letter? Do I need a police report for DR too, NVC web said no but our lawyer think we need too.
