  1. Hello all!

My husband and I are currently living together in Colombia and we have insurance here, but will be uninsured once re arrive in the US. Previously we had always been covered by parent´s insurance or insurance through the universities we worked/studied at. We are hoping to find jobs that offer benefits, however we also want to be prepared in the case that we cannot secure employment based insurance. I was wondering if anyone here had experience with this and could offer some advice.

    Thanks so much!

  2. hi!

i am filling for a k1 visa for my fiance who is currently in Colombia, i Was just wondering if in all the documents required in the packet #3 have to be apostillados? this is like the stamp they put on them. Is this necessary for all documents? i would really appreciate the help, we are trying to get everything ready while waiting for our NOA2 and we are super hopeful and exited we just do not want anything to go wrong and we want to be as prepared as we can!

Nope, none of the docs. will need an apostille.

  3. Most people have the two appointments on the same day. Keep in mind that you have to select the physician first. The lab only does appoitments at 7:00am and only the visa applicant (beneficiary) is allowed in to the office. You should be able to schedule the physicians appointment for late in the day. This allows the lab to get the information to the physician.

In our case, we have the lab appointment at 7:00am and the physician's appointment at 4:00pm. We still left a day open before the interview for any unforeseen contingencies.

    Good luck!

    Thanks so much! :D

  4. Hello there!

My husband and I just received news last night that he will be having his interview on Feb. 1 in Bogota. We are starting to make plans for the medical exam. I know that he has to have his blood work and x-rays done before the physical. I was just wondering if he can do them on the same day or if there has to be a day in between the two.

Thanks! Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Hello all,

I am looking for some advice for my husband and I. We are looking at a January or February interview date in Bogota and my husband would like to finish out teaching next semester before coming to the US for good. The semester ends at the end of May which would be under the 6 month validity of the visa, however it would be cutting it pretty close especially if he gets his visa at the beginning of January. We were wondering if it would be possible for him to enter the US for about a week or so and then go back home to finish out his contract for next semester. Is there a minimum amount of time he is required to be here before he can leave again? Once he leaves can he only be gone for a certain amount of time (days, weeks?)? I will be living in Colombia with him also from January until his contract is through. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

    THANKS!

    Heather

  6. I think I am still the only one from Colombia waiting for Interview Date hahahaha...you guys are so lucky cause this wait finally ended...I am still waiting and I guess I will be the one keeping alive this thread if you don't mind...

Is there any Colombian with case completed in Early Oct with interview date?

We are still waiting for an interview date...case completed on Oct. 15. Based on how long the others had to wait for their interviews I estimate that the earliest my husband and I will have our interview is around January 20th. I am just praying it is not any later than January...

    Good Luck to you!

  7. CONGRATS TO THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE RECEIVED INTERVIEWS!!!!!! It's great to see that it's finally happening! I am pretty sure we will not sneak in December for an interview, but I am thinking January will be our month. I haven't talked to NVC lately...we had a death in the family so I have been out of the loop for a few days, but I will call Monday just to make sure.

    CONGRATS!!!!!!!

  8. Hello Friends

we just got our case number and IIN Number and gave our emails to a live person we logged into the website and we see the AOS bill but not IV bill

my question is can we pay the AOS bill before sending the choice of agent or choice of agent has to go first ?

    Thank you very much

We paid my husband's AOS before we sent in the choice of agent form. You will be allowed to pay the IV bill once choice of agent is received and processed.

    Good Luck!

  9. Thanks, any idea what the email (correct) email address would be?

We sent it through snail mail and by email. The one sent snail mail took 5-7 days to be processed...the one sent through email took 13 days to be processed. I would suggest you send it via snail mail and email and then you are covered. Email is not always the quickest option...go figure...

    It should be sent here....NVCInquiry@state.gov

    Template to follow....http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form

    Hope this helps!

    Good Luck on your journey!!!

  10. So I received my NVC case number today and called NVC to give them our email addresses and I asked the Rep on when I could send the email version of the DS-3032 in. She told me it would take four weeks. So I said that I thought it would take four weeks if I wanted a mailed application. She said yes that the only difference is that now since they have our email addresses they will send application electronically instead of snail mail. This doesn't seem to jive with what I have read from looking at people's time lines and the Wiki shortcuts on sending email of DS-3032. I didn't really want to argue with the person so let it go after I didn't seem to be getting anywhere. Can I send the email as soon as I get the message that my file has been manually uploaded (which is what I thought) or do I need to wait for some message from NVC?

Second question since you are all here, do I call the phone number to see if the AOS bill is ready to pay or do I wait for an email? The Rep said again that I just wait for an email.

    Thanks

I sent my husband's DS-3032 through snail mail and email. The snail mail DS-3032 was processed first (about a week)...the emailed one was processed after 13 days. I would send it both ways to cover all bases. Good luck on your journey!

  11. Hello there,

What was the date that NVC said they sent the package?...it could take about a week to get there...it took mine about 5 days. We sent Choice of Agent through email and regular mail. The hard copy was accepted before the one sent by email which took 13 days to be confirmed.

The only way to get an update at the NVC stage is through the AVR or speaking with an operator.

Check out LingChe's shortcuts which details how you can get everything ready and shorten your time at NVC.

    Good Luck on your journey!

  12. You may actually never recieve anything from the Embassy.. Everything is available online.. and if your case was sent to NVC sometime ago, your clock is ticking...

We did all our Packet 3 from the Bogota website, http://bogota.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html, Once you know the Embassy has the Packet from USCIS, you should download everything from the website, complete the DS230 and DS2100 return it to the Embassy by email then an interview will be scheduled..

Make sure to start gathering all required items in the instructions...

I would not wait until you receive anything. Our packet 3 did not arrive until 4 days before our interview.. so waiting for the Mail would have put us beyond the 4 month expiration date..

Alright, well...just called NVC and I was told....NOTHING :bonk: (not that I'm surpised) The operator said that she has no info. on whether or not there is a delay in Bogota and that there is no way to ever predict an interview date or when the case will be sent out. It is simply different for every case. (Response I expected)

As for our other docs. and DS-230...since we are CR1 they already have our DS-230 and all other docs. for the interview (except 1, the medical and our photos and such). We have everything ready except the medical of course (waiting on letter or case number to show up on embassy interview schedule).

So, I guess for now it is time to get ready for another prolonged wait  filled with lots of calls to harass NVC and DoS.

Trying not to get too frustrated or disappointed since I know there are people that have been waiting a lot longer than us.

Thanks and good luck to everyone! Will update any info.

  13. heathercita

Have you called NVC to find out if your case was recieved, then forwared to the Embassy, and if the Embassy has your packet? The NVC will know all that information.. If an appointment was scheduled by the Emnassy, NVC will also know that information...

If not, you should call them today..

    Kenny

Thanks for the fast reply Kenny. I hadn't called to speak with anyone yet since my case complete was so recently, but had seen that it seems the last IR1/CR1 interview was in July. There are also people from Aug. and Sept. with cases completed still waiting on interview dates so I started to get pretty nervous. I may try calling today or tomorrow to see if I can get any kind of info. at all. Thanks again! :)

  14. Hello all-

My case was just completed on Oct. 15 and I have been checking out some of the timelines and it seems as though Bogota may be slowing down or just putting spousal visas on the back burner. I was just wondering if there is anyone that has recently received an IR1/CR1 interview or if there is anyone going the IR1/CR1 route that has also recently had their case completed. Trying to gather some info. and check in with others to try and gauge how long it may take. Thanks!!! Good luck to everyone!!!

  15. hello

    CONGRATS

yes.... when i got my sign in failed on FRIDAY 10/15 i called the NVC told me the document is in final review..

then i called MONDAY they said they complete my case on MONDAY 10/18... till now AVR still not UPDATED

CONGRATULATIONS! I had SIF on Oct. 15th also! For me the AVR updated the next day saying that case was completed on the 15th, but any other time it definitely took the AVR 2-3 days to update. Happy about the case complete, but a little worried because it seems the Bogota Embassy is slowing down...has seen it is taking some Colombians about 8 weeks to know interview date! Good luck to everyone!

  16. Hello all,

My husband and I have submitted all documents to NVC and we are now beginning to prepare for the interview. I have gathered all chats and emails and they total about 3000 pages. I was wondering what would be the appropriate amount to print out and take to the interview. I am assuming they are not going to read our 3000 pages, but I do not want to go to the interview unprepared either. I would really like to avoid having to print out all of this and drag it to the interview. Any suggestions?
