Passed the test today!!!!

Atlanta was really busy. Appointment was at 1:30, hubby didn't see the IO until 4:00 or later. When he arrived his number was 145 and they were on 80-something. I saw a post in a different topic that a morning Atlanta appointment was quick. I guess the lesson is if your appointment is in the afternoon, be prepared to wait. When he did see the IO, she was exhaused (as was my hubby), but very nice. She did check our marriage certificate, tax returns, child's birth certificate, asked where he worked etc, was he a terrorist, drug user, would he take up arms or support the US in a military conflict etc. She then asked 6 questions and did the reading and writing part of the test. The entire thing took 10 minutes.

He got a paper saying he passed the English, US history and government tests and had the 'recommended for approval' box checked. He should get the oath letter in the mail sometime very soon. Good luck to everyone else!!

as long as you have met once within two years, as you stated you have. What i think will be important is that you have plenty of evidence of your ongoing relationship

Agree with Leon and Mylen. Country and Consular specific, after the basics are covered, don't listen to rumor seek the information your self. Lots of us met only once, it is what you do after that to support an ongoing relationship.

Keep records of ALL of your communication; Skype logs, text messages, emails etc (with all the details including date, time etc). It is the evidence that you have a bonafide, ongoing, legitimate relationship and constant communication that they are looking for, not the number of visits. Hope this helps. Good luck!!!

Never mind my question. I checked online and saw the following love note from USCIS:

On August 20, 2013, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Yes. It helped. They can tell you stuff at infopass that they can't tell you on the phone. Get an early AM appointment. Expect to wait at least 1 hour past your appointment time. Be friendly and polite. They can help you.

Hi August filers. My hubby is filing for citizenship based on 3 years of marriage to me (USC). Assuming he gets the pictures taken this weekend, it will all go in the mail monday. We are sending in the following:

Application

Copy of green card (front and back)

$680

Proof I am a USC (birth certificate)

3 years IRS transcripts

Marriage certificate

Our child's birth certificate

3 years of bank statements (staggered by approx. 6 months)

Beneficiary statement for life insurance

Should be enough. I'm sick of this process and writing checks to the Department of Homeland Security.

The green card should be shipped with a USPS tracking number. Make sure the zip code on the tracking matches yours. If not, see my saga on 'wrong address' in this forum. Infopass appointment would be your next step.

Just to close the loop in case if anyone else has the same problem. The green card made its way back to St. Albans, VT. It was put in another envelope with our correct address on it and arrived today. Funny, the green card was still in the plastic baggie and was still stapled to the original piece of paper with the wrong address in North Carolina on it. So much for personal security. Anyway, it took 1 infopass appointment, 2 referral numbers and a small miracle over the span of almost 2 months to get the green card to the correct person.

Here's the latest on the wrong address saga.

Green card arrived today!!!!!

USPS tried to deliver it to the wrong address twice. A week ago it was finally delivered to St. Albans, VT (small miracle here) and it arrived today!!!!

The address still wasn't 100% correct but it was correct enough to get here :-).

Latest update in the saga of the wrong address:

Today, May 9th we received a letter from USCIS dated April 30th stating that the green card was shipped to the wrong address due to a clerical error on the part of USCIS (No kidding Sherlock!!!). We are welcome to apply for a free replacement card by filing an I-90. We can request expedited processing, which may or may not be granted.

We have one more service request number out there which should be answered by the 21st. Hopefully we will get a better answer from the second service request or will get a response from the Ombudsman's Office.

Congrats to everyone else who has been approved and actually received their cards.

Still no green card. It was marked undeliverable at the wrong address AGAIN today. We have contacted the Ombudsman's office to get the matter (hopefully) resolved. Good news is the green card is in the hands of post office. Bad news is the green card is in the hands of the post office.

STILL waiting on green card to arrive. Today it was marked as undeliverable AGAIN at the wrong address . We have called USCIS at least 3X, had 2 referral numbers and 1 infopass appointment. Tonight I composed an eloquent 'nasty gram' to the Ombudsman's office. I'm shocked at how easily our address was changed and what a pain in the rear it has caused.

When going through the K-1 process my now Hubby had all of his original documents officially translated and notarized. This was 'relatively cheap' in Tbilisi.

For example his Soviet Birth Certificate 'official document package' looks like this:

All of the pages are held together by a green ribbon threaded through a hole in all the documents which is sealed to the back of the package with a sticker and a notary's seal.

Page 1 - photo copy of birth certificate document with a rectangular blue rubber stamp (in Georgian) and a round notary stamp with signature. The back side of page 1 has a series of bar codes and more information.

Page 2: Transltion from Georgian into English of the Birth Certificate. This also has an official translators stamp on it. Back side of page 2 is blank.

Page 3: Document in English and Georigan signed by a notary stating that this notary was applied to by the translator to certify the authenticity of her signature on the translation. It goes on to further state that the translator presented her certificate and he was convinced she was a capable translator and he certified the whole package for a fee of 2GEL and 36 tetri.

My Hubby got the eye rolling thing too but when he explained why, everyone was happy to help.

I would double check with a travel agent or the airline to make sure this is OK and they won't treat it as 2 one way tickets. Just as an FYI. When you buy an international 1 way ticket (which is how I suspect the airlines will look at the tickets in different names) they will put you in the most expensive fare class. For example if you bought a round trip economy class ticket on Delta you could get a 'T' class ticket (cheapest available). If you bought a 1 way economy class ticket on Delta they will bump you to a 'Y' class ticket (most expensive).

My hubby isn't on the mortgage but is on the title. We included a copy of the title showing joint tenancy and survivorship and got approved without an RFE.
