  1. I want to know how much it costs

Can someone clearly state what is needed to get your postal id besides your marriage certificate?(so you can change your name)

And how much does it cost to change your passport? because you changed your name

Requirements of postal id: barangay clearance, 2 passport picture, marriage certificate and P250.00

Requirements for passport: original marriage certificate, birth certificate, old passport, if previously married- annulment decree, previous marriage certificate duly annotated and P900 for E-passport - regular processing; additional P300 for expedite.

  2. First of all I would like to know if 5000 pesos is considered a fair amount of money. In the US, for me atleast, 500 usd is alot so what would be a pretty good amount in the phil

P5000 could be a lot of money to some but not to others. it depends to the lifestyle of a person and where she lives. cost of living especially in manila is high. if she lives in a far flung province, maybe 5,000 is enough for her basic needs.

  3. Ok,...it also said about the $10,000. I think she was planning on bringing at least $40-50 US just in case.

She cant bring $10,000 out of the country. Below this amount, she can bring it. Its also safe to buy traveller's cheques so in case she lose it, she can report to the issuing bank for replacement.

  4. I write this with a heavy heart.

With an interview just a few weeks away. First- I am very happy I have met all of you. Its been a hard road and a long one and yet we all made it. Our motives are many! but the biggest one is love.

This journey has taught me love.

My husband has decided that he cant leave his kids. He doesnt feel we will be able to make it financially and is having some regrets now. Call it cold feet? I do not know. All I do know is that I dont think we will remain married because how can we living so very far apart? I wont make him choose between me and his kids. I cant convince him otherwise.

I love all of you! And wish you all the best. I dont honestly know what I am going to do now. I guess find a way to pick myself up. I can consider this an accomplishment. A sad one.

    God bless you all.

All things happen for a reason. God does not throw stones that we can not catch. When He puts tears in your eyes, its because He wants to put a rainbow in your heart.

  5. Hi, are you serious? she paid 30k? I thought 213 including everything?

when your friend had her medical? I might have my medical on tuesday.

You have to pay for every additional tests they require when they find something abnormal to the basic procedure they will do for $213. Their procedures are more expensive than the normal fees charged to patients. She paid P30K because her hemoglobin was low. She was given series of tests.

Try to be healthy on your exams. Be extra clean when collecting urine samples.

I heard one patient was referred to a dermatologist because her face was reddish from applying astringent. It cost her a lot.

  6. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you, Lily! Stay strong. You're almost at the end of this road.

Like you said, your sons will always be your babies. I'm sure they can visit you from time to time.

    Good luck!

When I fight, I fight like a tiger. I am strong willed woman and never a quitter. The hard experiences and struggles I went thru made me a stronger woman. What I did not learn to overcome is when my love ones are concerned.

My husband knows what I am going thru. He is supportive to me. He saw the love, care and generosity I gave to my boys and family. He felt how a filipina wife loves and cares her husband. He understands well my mixed emotions leaving many things behind and joining him for a lifetime journey.

Thank you for your moral support.

  7. Awww, sorry to hear all that you have to leave behind especially your precious kids. Hope they will be able to join you in no time!!!!

P.S. Can't you bring the dog over?

    Good Luck!!!

    Fingers Crossed!!!!

    Good morning.

Mrs. Wife told me that your husband was on a J1 visa before. I told my boys that we will look for a way where they can get a J1 visa. This is the first time that we will be apart for a long time. I will worry a lot to them. Filipino mothers are so caring and protective. Can you give me some information about the program and where to apply? I am seeing hope that we can be still together in the US even in a different state.

I wish I can bring my dog with me. I have to look for someone who has a big heart to take care of her like a family member in case my boys can also go.

We only have one set of parent in this world. My father is 94, mother is 72. I feel sad to leave them also and not see them alive again. I fear calls from here about them.

There is no other place like home. I will surely miss my good life here. In the name of love, I need to sacrifice like my husband did when he left US for me.

  8. Tigerlily, you have some very wise words in there. (F)(F) My heart goes out to you. I wish you well in your new venture, and pray that you will find comfort.

I am the lucky one, I get to stay home, and my husband come to me. It would be very hard to leave my son, and friends. To those who are coming to the US, you have my respect and admiration.

You are both lucky to find each other. I admire you for staying behind your son. You are a good mother. Your husband sacrificed for his love one.

I told my husband before that I am not going to abandon my boys for a man. I maybe leaving them but I am not abandoning them. My boys will always be my little babies. My heart will bleed as I leave and see them no more. Only mother like you can feel this pain up to our deepest soul. The hardest and most painful thing in this world is when you lose a love one. I will surely miss my boys, family, friends and my dog. I will also miss our food.

  9. Good Morning!

    :ot2:

I will be happier when you get your interview. My husband is happier than me when I informed him about my interview because I still have so many things to do and attend. It pains me a lot to leave my 2 boys behind. I thought of sending them to the U.S. thru J1 visa for 4 months. So when they come back, they will not miss me more than I am going to leave them now.

You will be next to get an interview. I am congratulating you now. Smile.

  10. Congratulations to all the Pinay who got their interview and other VJ who got their interviews as well most especially to Sachinky who unselfishly shared knowledge and comfort to our pains for waiting and RFE.

Our ordeal to USCIS and NVC is over. Our patience and love was tested for our beloved. We are now heading to a new chapter in our tiny lives as we leave our families, friends, culture, heritage and country in pursuit for a lifetime journey with our love ones. We feel the excitement of being with our partners and live in a foreign country where we think it offers a good and comfortable life.

For me there is pain as I leave many things behind especially my family and 2 boys aged 20 and 21. I will miss my dog who is already part of our family. She gave us joy and put a smile in our faces. I know my heart will be shattered into pieces as I bid goodbye to my love ones. I will cry a lot alone in my journey. I know also, when my husband welcomes me with a big hug and kiss, I am a whole person again ready to face new life and share with him the rest of the journey. I believe that LIFE IS MATTER OF CHOICE AND NOT BY CHANCE. I also believe that there for every sunshine is a message from God and every sun dawn is a signature from God. God Bless to all.

  11. Natalia--So you're saying I should have my cousin write a statement that he is unwilling to send his stuff for privacy reasons and attach that and my FIL's stuff and submit it to VFS on April 19th. That way the CO has some time to review the papers before the interview and hopefully, there will be no last minute hiccups.

Thanks. Probably sounds like our best and safest option as of now.

My husband does not like to disclose so much of his information. If not only for this petition he will never do it. After my interview he wanted me to shred or burn all his documents he sent to me.

Whenever I wanted a concrete answer where USCIS and NVC can only answer me in a general way or sometimes in their own opinions, I called our embassy here. Since you will be dealing with the consular there, you can call their immigrant specialist. It was not easy for me to get thru them because the operator always refer me to their call center. I write all my questions before I call them and take down notes. It helped me a lot in answering my questions and work on to our petition. I want a concrete answer and assurance of what I must do. I dont mind if they told me that they know me already.

I do believe that your consular can help you deal with your problem by asking them what you must do in lieu of your cousin's adamant refusal to share his 2009 tax for whatever reason he has.

  12. Thank you tigerlily!!

Its good that she has a corrected NBI clearance. The immigrant specialist at the US embassy Manila told me that they are so strict with NBI. I got 3 NBI clearnces with 3 different last names.

NVC told me that April slot for interview is already full. She told me to call on April 15 to know if I can have a May interview. I still call them everyday. If only its not holiday at the embassy here, I will also call.

I just wish I can have my medical even I dont have letter from the embassy yet. I dont know how the wife of Scott-Mhay had her medical even their case was not completed yet.

  13. There's noway of tracking your package unless you call the NVC operator and they tell you specifically that your package was shipped on a certain day. I've try tracking my package only to find out that it's someone else. I've given up on tracking it altogether.

I agree with you. I also wonder how will I know if that is mine since there is no name. I will just call NVC later. Thank you.

  14. I'm still debating between buying the ticket to Chicago now or later. Prices will definitely shoot up with the onset of summer.

Mumbai let's you pick up the visa on the day of the interview itself. If not, they DHL it within 2-3 days. What do you folks think? With a May 12 interview, should I be okay for an estimated departure on the 17th or should I play it safe with the 19th?

Good morning Sachi. I am tracking my package to Manila. Am I going to use the date my case was completed. Sif - 3.30.10; case complete 3.31.10. For tracking EXP 31 Mar 2010A. Is this correct? I found one going to Manila.

  15. Hi Guys,

Got it Got it Got it.....Sign In Failed at 6 PM EST...Wooohoooo......Thanks a lot people....Thanks a ton god......I am flying......

    Raj

Congrats to you and Doctor M.

I find hard time calling AVR. Touch tone cant be recognized. I got tired calling so I talked to the operator. I asked for my completed case. Case complete on 3.31.10, Sif on 3.30.10.

I was informed that April interview is fully in Manila. Hopefully I can have a May interview. All I have to do for now is wait for my interview.

To those who will be interviewed ahead of us, can share their interview experiences and questions frequently asked.

  16. You brough up a lot of good points. Will just have to figure out the NVC part. Thats the last thing that I want to dely my case.

The court dismissed my petition for annulment when my lawyer failed to comply to the return receipt sent to the Solicitor's general. He giving me money to re-file my case. I told him that I am going to file a disbarment case if he can not revive my case. I will really file a disbarment case so he can not continue to damage other people who has trusted him to fight for their case. The motion of reconsideration was granted. I got another lawyer.

As long as I know I am right and have substantial evidence to prove my claim, I fight for justice. Its the lawyer's job to perform his job according to the oath he took.I agree that simple submission of documents and petitions should be meticulously prepared and studied. The law does not excuse ignorance to anyone especially to lawyers.

I believe that your lawyer committed negligence. You can either sue him for damages he caused to you or just forgive and forget.
