Your case was super fast...like 2 months!

The lady at my interview confirmed: it's better to be very thorough and send too much info (as long as it's well-organized), that helps with faster processing.

Oath ceremony was very simple. Arrived, checked in, guests waited separately. Received a packet including:

-Program for the ceremony (Video, Call of countries, Oath, Pledge of Allegiance, Video from Obama, Presentation of Certificates)

-Various info sheets/brochures (how to apply for passport, passport application, voter's guide, voter's registration form, a letter "from Obama")

-a "Citizen's Almanac"

-Pocket sized Declaration of Independence, and Constitution

-Certificate holder for naturalization certificate

After certificates were given out, we were told to check them very thoroughly to ensure no mistakes with name, DOB, etc because if not changed the day of, there is a fee to make changes later.

The officer presiding the ceremony also held a question period. Only funny question was from an apparently hungry man: "Are we getting any food today?" Lol. I thought it was a valid question since the ceremony is held at lunch time...at least coffee/water would have been nice!

Hey everyone!!

Had my interview yesterday, wanted to send a quick update/review of the Charlotte field office.

But first things first.....I AM APPROVED!!!!! Oath ceremony is much quicker than anticipated as well - Tues 3/18 at 12:30pm.

Here is how it all went down:

-Arrived at 10am for my 10:30 appt (my husband came with, he was off yesterday so we figured he should come since naturalization is based on marriage)

-First went through airport-type security and presented appointment letter and green card. My husband also had to present a driver's license for ID.

-Instructed to go to a waiting room with 8-10 windows. Checked in at the first window and the man underlined the last 3 numbers of my A# on my appointment letter. He told me to listen for these numbers

-After about 2 min, I was called up to another window, where I presented my letter and green card again. The lady asked me to look at a little camera/webcam. I assume my picture was taken but I wasn't ready for it if it was haha!

-She gave me a ticket with a number, and I was told to go across the hall to the "appointment" waiting room. There were about 5 others people/familes also waiting. Typical USCIS, no food/drink/cell phone use.

-We waited about 10 min, and I was called in by my ticket #. My husband got up to walk in with me, and the officer waved him back. So back to the waiting room he went :-)

-We walked to her office, she asked me to come in, closed the door, and put my binder/coat/purse down. She asked me to stay standing, and I swore to tell the truth.

-Next, she asked for all my passports (current and expired), my GC, and my driver's license. She looked at them and started typing. As she did this, she asked me to read one sentence out loud (something about the president...). Next, she asked me to write out a sentence as she read aloud (I believe it was "Washington is our founding father")

-Next, she asked me 6 questions from the 100 Civics questions. I honestly don't remember more than 2 of them. Went by so fast. I had studied SO MUCH that was knew all 100 inside and out.

-After that, she went through my application with me. She asked me how many times I'd been out of the country since I moved to the US. She also asked my husband's full name, our marriage date, and all the questions relating to whether I've been in prison, on drugs, a terrorist, etc etc etc.

-Lastly, she went over the oath and had me sign the last page of the application, had me verify the spelling of my name and DOB, and said this info would appear on my naturalization certificate

-She then told me I was approved (I refrained from squealing with delight), and that I should wait in the same appointment waiting room while another officer reviewed my file one more time

-I jokingly asked if she wanted to see all the paperwork I brought with me (wedding pics, originals of proof of relationship and marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc) since that was asked of me in the interview letter. She told me that I had been VERY thorough with all my applications (as evidence by my literal encyclopedia-sized file) and that she didn't need any more proof

-I went back to the waiting room, and about 10 minutes later another officer called me up along with 2 other applicants. She congratulated us on our success and gave us each a letter stating that the date of our ceremony is Tuesday 3/18 at 12:30pm. We have to bring the letter back with us, signed and again stating we've not been arrested, divorced, etc from the time of interview till the time of the oath ceremony.

Sorry this is so long but thought you all would want to know how it went. I'm sure each officer/interview process is unique but everyone's experiences have helped me so thought I'd return the favor.

I do not know, should i send the package via fedex or USPS, i know it is the same, both will deliever, just afraid of USPS to do awful job.

u guys used fedex or USPS?

I used USPS and made sure it was priority 2-day, with a tracking #. I've done that for all my applications with USCIS, no problems so far! But I know that FedEx brings peace of mind to some people....up to you!

Got 2 NOA's in the last few days.

NOA1 January 8, 2014. Application received and in process.

NOA2 January 15, 2014. Biometrics date 01/29/2014. I will most likely go in early because I live 10 min from the ASC.

So much for my theory that my Biometrics from last summer was still valid!

A question for the guys who applied for N-400 this month and their ROC was last year, i heard the finger print valid for 12 mont, u guys still will do biometric ?

I guess I'll wait and see if they send me a Biometric appointment letter....hopefully not, I just got mine done this past summer. Although, I've already paid the Biometric fee included in the $680....so if I don't have to do the Bio appointment, think they'll send us a refund? LOL!

I was only going to send tax return transcripts, copy of birth certificate for our daughter (born in 2013) and maybe a copy of our lease.

They are not asking for much evidence in the instructions, actually according to it 3 years of tax returns should be enough. I feel like that they got all they needed during the filing for ROC, which in my case was last year. You never know with USCIS though, might be better to send more than what I'm sending.

Never assume USCIS has access to your whole file....or so they say :-) So always better to send more than less, in my experience!

My check cashed this morning! One step in the right direction. Someone asked if you can still file with the old form. Yes, USCIS website states that a new form will be coming out but until it is posted, continue to use most recent version available.

I sent my N-400 packet on Friday. Shows delivered today. Sent by USPS priority 2-day mail. I'm filing based on marriage to USC. We've been married 3 1/2 years.

Here is what I included, I hope it was sufficient:

-E-notification form G-1145 clipped to top of packet

-Cover letter with all items listed (and tabs at bottom of pages to facilitate finding documents

-Form N-400

-Copy of PR card front and back

-Passport photos w/ name and A# on back

-Husband's birth certificate

-Marriage certificate

-Apartment lease contract

-Joint tax returns for 2010,2011,2012

-Life insurance policies showing other spouse as beneficiary

-Renters' insurance

-Auto insurance

-Car lease document

-Statement from bank showing joint account

-Drivers licenses showing same address

-Credit cards showing same account #

-Check for $680

Can someone add me to list of January filers?

RE: Question 10B affiliations, from research I've done looks like it's best to include any organizations, including professional or religious, just to be safe. I'm sure that's not what they're looking for but it's better to be extra honest when it comes to USCIS!

Received my GC in the mail today YAY!! Can't believe it all went so smoothly (no RFE, no interview...last time I had an interview was pre-K1 visa back at the Canadian Consulate). We're so very grateful! Hope all goes well for everyone else waiting on Vermont

Went in for walk-in Bio appointment today. At first I got there around 8am when the office opened. There was a lineup outside, and when I inquired inside, the receptionist said there was quite a wait (evidenced too by the number of people already inside!). She advised coming back around 10:30 am. So I returned at 10:15 am, and was in and back out the door after fingerprinting and photos by 10:35! Well worth going in today, so I don't have to take a vacation day next Monday from work. So long story short, Bio is done, as of today, 8/13/2012.

Got the bio letter this week. Appointment is Aug 20. I may try to go in earlier than that on a day I already have off work. Any comments on the statement on the NOA about this (It says that you "MUST wait for your appointment notice before going to the ASC for biometric processing")? Do they frown upon going in early for a walk-in? I take this to mean you just cannot go in before you have a letter, not that you can't go in early once you have an appt letter... I see other people are doing it without a problem...Any feedback is much appreciated :-)

Mailed ROC packet to Vermont today! Here's what I included:

-Form I-751

-Copy of green card

-Apartment lease contracts for 2 years

-Bank statement showing date joint accounts opened with both names

-Copies of 2 credit cards, both our names, same account

-Copies of Drivers' licenses, showing same address

-Joint Fed & State tax returns for 2 years

-Life insurance policies showing the other as beneficiary

-Renters' insurance in both names for 2 years

-Auto insurance w/ both names and showing change of status/name when we got married

-Ticket & photos of trip back home

-2 affidavits from friends, notarized

-Check for $590

I also has my SSN prior to getting married because it is much simpler to get a marriage license in NC if you already have an SSN. So my SSN also says "Valid for work with DHS authorization only". I was told the same thing- come back only with both marriage license AND GC. You should have no problem using your SSN with maiden name up until that time because your SS number does not change- only your name. So just use SSN and show a copy of marriage license to indicate name change. The only place that will require both with correct names is most likely DMV office...at least that is the case in North Carolina!

You might want to check if insurance will cover an international (non-US) driving licence as I know Geico's underwriters state that they can't cover anything but a US driving licence. At least in North Carolina.

We are with Progressive auto insurance, and they will cover my Ontario (Canada) license as it is valid for another 4 years (although you will only appear on the insurance docs in your maiden name as this is the name your license was issued under). I had a similar DMV experience here in North Carolina- they said since my I-94 expires July 10, so would my license, so to wait for a Notice of Action, proving that my Residency documents are pending. What a pain -as was mentioned, we know we do have legal status! Oh and another point - make sure you bring your certified Marriage license with you, not a copy of it, as that isn't accepted.
