  1. It went fine. No problems or anything. He was asked if he had a birth certificate and he said no, but they were still able to process the request and we were told he will recieve his card in two weeks.

Woah, Congratulations on that. I shall apply for his on Wednesday. Was there any restrictions on his SS card eg "not authorized for employment" etc. At least with an SS, he can get his drivers lic etc done.

    Thanks,

  2. Hello all,

He was finally called up on Tuesday everning to come pick up his visa at 4PM Thursday (10/14/2010) which he did.

We got out of AP in 8 weeks, basically it was just to verify one or two documents. God is good.....all the time.

AP is one HELL of a place to be in, having to call the embassy almost every week etc

Once again thank you all for the support, wish you all the best.

  3. Hi guy, please help me understand this delama.

I am fron Cameroon. i file for a K1 visa for my fiance, which i visited only once last december. we made a mistake by did not taking a lot of pictures. her k1 visa was approve and send for an interview in cameroon. on the interview day, she answer all the question, still they gave her a yellow paper and ask her to come in 3 months. the yellow paper saying: " Additional proof of your relationship, such as photos, phone record, or other proof unique to your situation. if these are not avalable, DNA testing may be an option." my question is:

    1) has any one ever received a yellow paper before?

    2) can they realy perform a DNA test as the last obtion of evidence?

    3) i send them all the picture we took except one picture on which we were kissing on. do you think that if i send them that picture, it mind save our case?

thank you in advance guy. i realy want to hear what you think.

Well, I know someone who has the yellow paper but not for additional proof of relationship.

I have a couple of suggestions

    1) Go to cameroon and do a traditional enguagement

    2) Get certified affidavits from family members and friends. Her father could write one and someone from your side of the family can write one.

    3) Emails are good but phone records are better, it show how serious the relationship is when you spend money. Emails is a free means of communication. So have good phone records.

    Best wishes

  4. Hello all,

We have been on AP for close to 8 weeks now, but three weeks ago we were promised by the embassy that within 2 weeks, we shall hear from them. It's been more than 2 weeks and nothing from them yet.

I contacted my congressman, and they emailed the embassy got a reply saying we were still on AP. My congressman rep says they can only email the embassy, they can't make calls to the embassy. How can I convince my congressman's rep to call rather than email?

Can I use my senator as well or that will be too much?

I have decided not to call them this week hoping we hear from them.

    Please advice.

    Thanks,

  5. Congratulations. Holding your passport is a very good sign, I am sure as soon as you get the right police report, your visa will be ready. Good Luck

Thanks everyone - well it didnt go as smoothly as I hoped. Basically they didnt accept the New Zealand police check I provided in packet 3 as it was issued by the Ministry of Justice, not the New Zealand Police and apparently the only people who can get my police check from the New Zealand Police is the consulate.

So I was approved but visa issuance and passport return wont happen til they get the police check back, however in saying that I was given a refusal worksheet lmao - yeah I'm confused too. But I heard the word approved and they're holding my passport so I'm kinda happy with that :D

  6. OMG.... well from what i read from someone here at VJ AP at NVC are pretty fast. Just keep your faith alive and pray. It should not be there for a long time. Enjoy your weekend and celebrate the approval forget about the AP for this weekend.

Can this process get any better?

Just got off the phone with NVC. I have my Bogotá case number, but was also told that my case was in "additional processing." what this means, I have no idea. Neither the reason nor the length of time.. I've looked around VJ and have seen some delays of 2 weeks, others of 3 months. :wow:

    I honestly just... don't.....get.... it...

  7. My fiance was married before and is now divorce. he was required at the embassy to bring his marriage certificate as well as his divorce certificate.

Thank you for your response. I think we will just submit his divorce decree and go with that. I too could not figure out why they would want something so old. Thanks again and best of luck. Debbie

  8. I feel your pain in regards to emailing people who have gone through this process before from Liberia. I am going through that same problem at moment. You email others from your country expecting to read or get some assistance from them, but no reply. I admire how the Nigerians and Ghanians on this forum support each other. I wish other Africa Countries can be that supportive as well.

Well, I think you might just have to try again next tuesday. Good luck

  9. Thanks belinda63, I surely will shoot them an email every now and then, so they don't forget about us. I was actually looking at letting my congressman call them rather than me. But atleast I will give them some time to do what processing or background checks they plan on doing.

    Thanks,

ahhhhh misunderstood the AP-oooops. The embassy will continue to renew it until the AP process is complete. Wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email every now and then to let them know you are still around.

  10. Thank you so much Darnell, I will keep waiting. One part of this journey I am scared of, reading people being on AP for 8 mths etc. Well, I hope we get out of it ASAP.

    Thanks,

hey - just reviewed yer timeline - thanks so much for updating it.

re: petition validity - yer ok - that dates covers 'up to interview date' and if needed (prior to interview date), can be extended.

Since you've already had the interview date, the 'validity duration' is null and void.

Currently, since the casefile is under 'administrative review' - is different process, and in the end, if the visa is issued, this 'petition validity' notice is ignored, has no bearing or weight on the matter.

    Good Luck !

  11. Finally Ryna, congratulations. So happy for you. Things will move very very fast now. Good Luck to you.

Any April flier on AP? That is where I belong now. The worst place to be at, not knowing why, not knowing how long and again not sure what steps to take. Please pray you are not on it.

Awesome.. :wow: I am really happy.. I was really feeling bad about your case, but that just made my day to hear about your approval.. But I would certainly keep an eye on the old mailbox as well... lol...

Anyhow, that gives you something to celebrate in Colombia... You know what they say, the only risk is, not wanting to leave..

    Awesome News ! ! ! !

  12. Thanks Elya,

Does that mean, after your interview the Consulant office communicates immediately to DOS the decision or status of your interview? Can they(DOS) tell you why you were put on AP?

yES, I plan on start calling the embassy after a week or two, I hear in my country you have to call and get things moving.

At what stage can one get the congressman or senator help?

  13. Never would I imagine that I would be on VJ sharing what I'm about to say. For those of you who know me, you know that for the most part, I've always had good things to say about my husband. Long story short .... it's been almost 2 weeks since my husband of 4 years walked out on me and our 2 month old child. No good byes, no warning, not even an argument between the two of us. He received his Citizenship less than 2 months ago. And .... he left the country. Please keep me and my entire family in your prayers.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. So sad to hear that. Again the evil that men do live with them... he shall be rewarded.
