After almost a year of submitting the K1 petition, my fiancee finally arrived from the Philippines yesterday. Great news right? Not quite. The first thing she did was ask where the computer was so she can go on the internet. I asked if she had a Facebook page and she said no but later on I stumbled on the history of websites visited and she actually did have a Facebook page and also a new email address. Her cellphone also had no signal even though her Globe sim card was suppose to be setup for roaming. I thought maybe there was no signal because the cellphone was not setup correctly for the right network. So I check her phone and I stumbled on her saved text messages which had whole bunch of I LOVE YOU messages ..the only thing is the messages wasn't for me or from me. So at this point, despite all the money I spent on getting her here, I can't marry a person who is lying to me all this time. Now do I have to tell immigration that I will not pursue marriage (fill out forms)...and she will probably go back to the Philippines? Because I know I signed an affidavit of support and I don't want to be liable for her anymore. Thanks for any suggestions.

My fiancee also had to take the sputum test back on July 12. The preliminary test was negative but still had to wait the mandatory two months. She was told to call back on Sept 10 but no one answered because the office was closed for the Ramadan holiday... what?!? Anyways she called again following Monday Sept 13 and results were negative. Went back to St Lukes to finish vaccinations on Sept 16 and her interview is rescheduled for Sept 27... You just have to be patient.

On the NOA2 form there is a section under the beneficiary name - Notice Type: Approval notice Valid from 4/12/2010 to 8/11/2010

Thank you everybody for their kind words and advice. Looks like we just have to be patient and wait it out. Unfortunately the visa petition expires on Aug 11 which is way before we will get the sputum test results in September. Can I extend the visa petition and how? Also, is there any fees involved?

My fiancee took her medical check up at St Lukes a few days ago. Unfortunately her xrays showed a tiny cloudy spot which needed additional tests...the dreaded sputum test. Now she has to go back to St Lukes in two weeks and then wait for the results for another two months. Of course we are devasted since we have to go through this prolonged wait. We had to cancel her Embassy interview for July 8. My fiancee works in a hospital and she had additional xrays done yesterday to see exactly what it could be. Her personal doctor said it could be a beginning case of asthma due to complications of allergic rhinitis. Now would that be a reason to show up as a positive result on her sputum test? Aren't they looking for serious cases like TB, bronchitis, or pnuemonia. Any advise is appreciated

Just be patient. You and your fiancee should be getting letters from the Embassy with the MNL number. In the meantime both of you should start preparing the other DS paperwork and affidavit of support documents.
-
No, they are not the same. You and your fiancee should be getting a separate letter from the Manila embassy in a couple of weeks. It will give you a telephone number to schedule the interview and a link to the Embassy's web site so you can gather the required documentation.

Filling out the DS-160 was a pain in the b*tt. The internet connection kept on shutting down and it was impossible to save. Then after we finished printing the confirmation receipt, I got an email response from the Manila embassy saying that the DS-156, 156K , 157 forms are to be used for K1 applicants. Not the DS-160!!! Great ,just wasted all that time and effort. I was just following the VJ posts on these forums to use DS 160 only to get wrong info
-
I know your frustration. I emailed the Manila embassy a few days ago to get the real answer and they replied that only K1 applicants should use the DS 156-157 forms. Also, when my fiancee went to the local Banco de Oro to pay for the visa fee, the DS-160 was not required.
John this is the same exact question I posted earlier. I was looking at the US Embassy in Manila website and noticed that their is a DS-160 form now. I'm really not sure which one the DS-160 replaces out of the 3 (DS-156,Ds-156F and DS-157). According to the website (Nonimmigrant Visa Application Procedures) it ONLY explains about the DS-160 form under the Basic Requirements section and does not mention anything at all about the other 3 forms. HOWEVER, according to the Sample Approval letter (as of May 2010) it mentions ALL 3 forms and nothing about the DS-160. The only applicants who can REALLY verify this are the ones that got their approval letters AFTER the MAY 24th DS-160 change. Those are the people I'd really like to hear from. Please note to the others who have already answered your question, no disrespect to your answers.....Just want to make sure as their is conflicting information on the US Embassy in Manila website and the sample approval letter (http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf). Thanks guys!

I emailed the Manila embassy in regards to the DS-160. For K1 applicants, the DS 156-157 is to be used. Not the the DS160 online

I just emailed the Manila embassy in regards to DS-160. For K1 visa applicants, the DS-156 and 157 is to be used. NOT the new DS-160 online.
http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfniv1.pdf bottom of the very first slide says After May 24, 2010, ALL visa categories will be required to submit the DS-160. Don't count too much on the FAQ at the US Embassy site, it is general info based on the fact that not all Consulates have converted to the new form. The Embassy in Manila has officially converted as of May 24.

OK this is getting to be confusing and frustrating. What are we suppose to use now? The DS-160 or the other DS-forms?
-
Yeah Pateros!!! Hope you like balut...I Use Fedex also

You can't remove the ex-wife out of the account unless you provide legal documents to the bank such as divorce paperwork, death certificate or court orders dissolving the account. Or if the ex-wife willingly removes herself out of the account (fat chance). Who knows, maybe the courts have ordered the account to be intact and the husband doesn't want to tell you. Your best bet is like the previous posts...open your own joint account.

This is still confusing. Under the FAQ for the DS-160 instructions on that link you provided ...
13. When I apply for a nonimmigrant visa using the online DS-160, are additional forms required?
No, with two exceptions. When applying at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate that is using the new DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, you will use only one (1) form. For Embassies and Consulates that have converted to this new process, the DS-160 has replaced all of the following forms: DS-156, DS-157, DS-158, and DS-3032, which are no longer necessary.NOTE: The exceptions are Fiancee Visas (K-1/2) which still require use of the forms DS-156 and DS-156K, and the Treaty Trader/Treaty Investor visa application, which is explained in #14 below.

Where did you see posted that DS-160 form is now required for K1/K3 visas?
I'll correct my own post. Starting May 24 all visa categories require the new form. Aweseome!
-
I wouldn't take a chance. Don't bring it on the plane. It's considered a weapon. Customs will find it and confiscate it
-
Is this form needed to be filled out for K1 Visa at Manila embassy?
-
Thanks. Now to come think of it. Hardly anybody has a landline phone over there. Its all cellphones now.

My Fiancee received a letter from Manila embassy to call and schedule an interview. I was surprised that there was a fee involved. Its $18 if called from the U.S. and P53 a minute if called from the Philippines. I'm assuming that you can call on behalf of the fiancee if you call from the States. Which is more practical or economical ? Or does it really matter? Any experiences from fellow VJers?
-
Can you imagine trying to live off P10,000 (roughly $223 now) in the United States for a month? Practically impossible! Can't even pay rent with that. Yet in the Philippines you can hire a helper and a driver. Interesting right?

watched the show..she looked like she was lip synching..song was ok. I was impressed with Justin Beiber though.

Thanks for your suggestions. The only thing is there is more to this. I've known her for more than 10 years. She lives next door to my grandmother's house in the Philippines. Now of course during a long distance relationship there will be miscommunication, arguments, breakups, get-togethers. We've taken trips to Hong Kong and Macau the past few years. I've paid for her medical bills when she was in the hospital including her asthma medicine which delayed her interview back 2 months. And I admit after all this, I've been taken as a fool. That's why it needs to end. BTW, the texts messages were from her and the other party dated last Friday Dec 3, the same day she left the Philippines.
